  1. only first two lines will be accessed by SID so no configuration is needed. In the main.asm should be selected 2x20 LCD
  2. So, we are both on exactly same track! ;D I did that too, and been talking to the wilba about possibility to organize batch for them. Acording to prices of other Re`an knobs these should be inexpensive too. And they are just perfect for any encoder MB project. I just love these. :)
  3. The buttons on my PCB is all aligned so caps can be rotated 90 deg. and I add a pad on power line on IO PCB so no trace cutting is necessary to ad a switch. Well, not really. mine is bit cheaper, especially if you are somebody living in Europe Well, for me it was the price. To order the PCB from US cost much more than to make it locally, and when I making it locally it is understandable I will offer it to the other interested people. There are more than 10 builders here in Serbia, and for us it is much more cheaper. As the PCB is bit different, I wanted to provide panel and some custom backlit buttons and possible complete custom box if people are interested. Full customization is possible for much less money. The main reason for me was not to earn money on Limor`s design, rather to make everything as cheap as I can and, of course, to make it look much better so some small PCB modifications were necessary. Well, custom buttons caps wont suit original x0x buttons. As far as I know you cannot find rare parts in France, but I might be wrong. There is not much to compare. As I said... only buttons alignment and added pads for power switch connection. But the look of my finished x0x will be very different to the original x0x.
  4. Thank you. I`m looking for compatible Albs pot right now in mouser. I feel it better to find one with shorter shaft so no cutting needed to have same length. I am talking about trimming shaft for x0x project. http://www.ladyada.net/make/x0xb0x/fab/prep/index.html
  5. Hello julienvoirin. Parts are not a problem. Yes. I expect some to arrive these days thanks to b-funk, and some bit later when Huck ship them to me. yes You can program it yourself connecting it directly to the parallel port. probably One of the reasons for building it myself is the waiting list. another is... I can do it much better. ;) If you are really interested into x0x, I advise you to read all the posts here. If you still need more information, feel free to ask. Just for your information, this is final stage of collecting money for PCB ordering.
  6. Thank you nebula for your detailed answer and for sending me sample. ;) I appreciate it! Inexpensiveness and small footprint is what cough my eye, and wobbling it what I afraid of. These type of pots is originally used on x0xb0x and maybe is a good idea to change them with Alps. I think they make very similar pot.
  7. Anybody ever used Panasonic EVU-F2LFL3B14 pots? How are they build quality and turning feeling... how smooth they are? Would you recommend it?
  8. And bigger. ;)
  9. Tkanks Tob, I got bored with my old avatar, so I attach some wings to it for a change. ;)
  10. I know Albs are making some of those 12x12, and I think they are rated as dust proof, but don`t take me for sure. I read somewhere on ladyada forum that buttons on original x0xb0x started to malfunction after a year of usage, and somebody advised same type made by Alps. I wanted you to be inspired, and you should think of appearance now while waiting for PCBs and parts. I would really like to see some nice looking x0xes after ugly originals. We can do it better, I`m sure ;)
  11. Thank you for the harder part of job. I`m sure there will be more SEQ, LC, FM... boxes because of this 40x2. MIDIbox of the week is pretty much dead lately.

    trig.com

Never heard of trig.com before, but as I never liked myspace I might register on trig.
  13. I chose white because I like it to be that way. It was easy to read it in normal light conditions. When there is no enough light small letters are all more less hard to read. Only full time back illumination helps in low light situations. Some lamp is always necessary above the gear in dark clubs. I have a dream to make fully backlit panel for a long time but never had chance to buy special back side engraving material that should be suitable for that use. It is textured scratch resistant plastic, but I`m not sure how fine labels will bee because of that textured surface.
  14. I would not organize bulk order myself because people want to use only paypal, but I think these knobs are just perfect for any encoder application.
  15. Until I checked Re`an knobs I thought there is only one D shaft style shaft. So, which of these options is North orientation "A" or "B" Also, does anybody know where can I find Re`an P675 knob. I managed to find it only on http://devicemart.co.kr but I`m not good with Korean letters. Check out this nice pointer-less knob from same website. Also Re`an. It could be just perfect for SEQ as it is just 10mm in diameter and it is SOFT TOUCH :) Maybe we could organize some batch order from Re an? I would buy much of these 10mm softies in black colour.
  16. Yes, with these LEDs you dont anything than nontransparent walls around each button, so light can`t run away and illuminate what you dont want to. But these LEDs seams perfect for panel illumination.
  17. Or cast the crystal cap with integrated prism? ;D If you make the simpler design with good lighting result I would be glad to make it for testing. OK?
  18. ;D ;D ;D people seams still remember that. me too :'(
  19. Light diffusion is not even. These are 3mm LEDs on the pictures. SMD LEDs can be used when needed even shorter buttons.
  20. Yes, it have Atmel, but you can burn it by connecting it directly to the paralel port with few resistors. SMD chip is not necessary. You need it if you want to upload new or custom firmware. You can just left the SMD chip out of the circuit. I never soldered SMD before, but I think it is final time to start. I`m getting new soldering iron from my girlfriend for birthday, so I will be ready. ;)
  21. Arto, I`m not sure about costs. Illuminated buttons caps seams far away from this point, even I did some tests. I will not offer the buttons too, these are common 12x12 easy to find membrane type buttons, and LEDs should not be something special. I want to see some movements first and we can talk later about custom parts like buttons, panels and such. In second round of payment we can sort the rest of the payments over ebay, so I could spend it online. As you was one of only few fair people that payed for PCBs long time ago you will get special discount for these buttons. Also will b-funk and unit-sound if they are interested. ;)

    They can be silenced. ;)
  23. Maybe this could be solution: http://misusage.org/wordpress/?p=19
  24. Yes, actuator is glued to the switch, and it is just wide as switch (not case with the one I made for testing) actuator so it is not a problem to position it perfectly. Engraved diffused part can be glued just after it or after panel mounting. I think it is better to do it right after as the length of top part is same length as the actuator, so matching is not problem. I will try to make some of these actuators with square cut at top for the buttons with square locking "thing" so fixing could be even easier. But for applications where not enough place from the PCB to the panel it is losing of precious space, so it is better to use standard 12x12x4 buttons without square on actuator.
