  1. Yes, it is back-painted 3mm clear acrylic, but for real I will go with some kind of "smoked" acrylic. It is transparent but slightly darker so it looks better. Yes, kris I agree this world is definetly crazy. I know that econimic situation in India is even worse but it is hard to find comfort in that, but thanks for words of currage. Apreciate it. ...And dont be sure you wont be bombed too. There is alot of dusty bombs out there gethering dust... >:( I couldnt belive myself that is really happening after all previous shit that happened here, but better not to continue with the politics. Lets try to enjoy what is worth. This is one of not so many places I feel good.
  2. Cool, thanks.
  3. It is legalised in AU? ...why not ;) I`m open minded when it comes to papers. ;D You know stryd, I think I becomming to like you, alot! ;D And now, as I promissed... some pics. The picture is kinda fake as it is just a engraved test plate, no encoder, knob or LEDs are mounted but it is good enough to see the results. The picture in the middle is illuminated with 3mm LED, and I must say, in real it looks much better. Here is the attachment...
  4. It is large community because much Serbs get into some imigrant refugee program because of the local war. I am refugee too, (used to live in croatia ex yugoslavia) but was under age than to apply for imigration, now is too late. :( About mining industy... not problem for me... I am earning 250 EUR per month here, so you got the point... Lots of people tried to come over regular imigrant program but not much chance if you are not very qualified or you have job offer. No need to say you have to pay all the papers which is not cheap, and it is not guarantie you will be acceped. I think Australia will stay just an dream for me and all connection I have with it is my beloved didgeridoo. But, what can I do... life is a bitch.
  5. No, it`s not all bad but I would rather "hairstyle" australian sheeps and make some boxes in freetime than be here, but it is almost impossible to get there without job offer. :(
  6. I just remembered the maker of x0xbox are doing laser engraving. Here is the link, but I would never do mailorder engraving. http://www.adafruit.com/laser/ You must be seen this at make`s website
  7. Thank you stryd. Sure you have seen it before. It is well known Richie Hawtin aka Plastikman logo. It is designed by his friend from high school or something. Maybe you have seen it on his covers or in one of his videos (Plastikman - Plastique) I just love the design, just right for that name. :) I advise you not to google, rather take a walk in some shopping mall or wherever you have shops like copier services, photo stores stamp service or such. Don`t look for sign laser engraving. Just look for engraving service and ask about techniques they are using. Mechanical, laser, etching... Ask them, they know about they competition so they probably can direct you to somebody. I maybe confused you when I said express stamp service. I tried to google it and I mostly get post stamps. I had in mind this kind of stamp: Maybe they are comming by other name, but my english is very limited. I can tell you again. In fucked up serbia there is alot of engravers, stamp services sign makers, and most economical way is to use laser cutters. Try to find a company that can make you acrylic illuminated panel for your business. Only acceptable way for them to make it is using laser. Mechanical CNC cutting would be slow and thus expensive and it is reserved mostly for metal. Sorry I cannot help you enough, but I personally didn`t know they exists until friend pointed mi out, so now I can find and chose the cheapest one. Price and quality have nothing in common for cutting, when it comes to engraving the bigger resolution the better. I engrave in resolution 700lpi. I hope I helped a bit.
  8. I hate blue light, but when I imagine those LEDs green or red it looks just great!
  9. Deadbeat, Swayzak... you people are playing with some serious people. That is great! Matrings, you are definetly having PSU with not enough power. I had the same problems like you. As stryd said... get your meter out and check how the specs are wrong. ;) Mine was also declared 1500mA I am really sorry you didn`t make it to finish your box before gig. There is too much stress involved if you have deadline so you can make some errors. Also when you don`t sleep enough, even more errors happens. @ Patstormont When you say I tought you are speaking about some other source as this hungarian shop have prices in EUR.
  10. Thank you kris, controller is almost finished. All electronics mechanics, few subpannels, but big job left to do is panel LED illumination. The problem is mounting so many LEDs for illumination. It takes 2 LEDs per pot window, and so little space to position it. Also, I make one error designing the acrylic subpanel and place the hole too close to the window, so we are pretty much stucked now, but we will sort it up somehow. Hey, I am making this controller for him! He don`t own waterjet machine, but his father have friend who made us small favor. It is really not big deal for them. While they are cutting some big job they added 2 more panels. ;) NeurDis, I`ve done some thinking and experimenting with backlit illumination and it is not so complicated or hard to achieve. First, I don`t think you can make it using handcut paper stancils. You can if your letters are pretty big but still not out of paper. For making proper stencils use PVC sheets cutted on PVC cutter. Those cutters are not so hard to find, all sign making service have one of those. You just give them a vector drawing and that is it. Bare in mind that you cannot have super small letters with this technique. Here is the picture of the coaster I`ve made using PVC masking. I tried to cut it by hand but I wasn`t satisfied at all. ...back to your question. Once you mask your panel you can spray it black in two layers and it will block the paint perfectly. If you want to use lets say white paint, paint your panel white in two layers and after it paint it black. This is only useful if you are painting transparent panel from back side. I always force people to try laser for this kind of job, because it is cheap, quick and very precise. Again... all express stamp making service own laser cutter/engraver! Having your lettering or signs illuminated is very easy and quick. You just spray your transparent acrylic panel with few coats of paint and give to the engraving service to engrave it. It will burn it just slightly to take away the paint and make it transparent. I will post an image of experimental piece of board I`ve done it some time ago when I get back home.
  11. Sorry patstormont, but where did you find that price?
  12. Hi Tibbon, welcome aboard. I understand your needs to recycle iPod. I love to recycle, but sometimes fitting all parts in perfect recycled box involves too much energy and work that is better to make custom box from scratch. Apple`s design is great, but I`m sure you can make better looking box for SID than the look of iPod if you spend some time designing panel and hunting "perfect" parts. Big percentage of time I spend just drawing and reorganizing panel layout. Once You are satisfied you have most of the job done and you can make your panel or even whole box using laser cut acrylic (cheap) or aluminum CNC milling. Fitting everything together, once you have got all your machined parts in front of you, is pure fun. Wiring is something else, but for step A CS, you don`t have much of it.
  13. That looks interesting, and idea for mushroom is even cooler especially if you are into psychedelic trance, but in that case you need to add some heavy base to support it. And don`t forget to put the labels on ...stryd loves them ;D Good work!
  14. Congratulations. You did it really quickly. I like how those wite cap knobs goes with the case. PS. It would be better if you attach jpg`s rather than zip, so people could see and zoom it on this page.
  15. Matrigs, those buttons looks really nice while illuminated. They looks the same as those DT6 used by TK for his boxes. I wanted to drill the cap of DT6 for 3mm LED, but it can`t be done because of different cap construction than I expect it is. Some stupid spring is where I wanted to put LED. :( Highly KS01 have exactly the same out construction but inside is obviously different. To bad. Thanks for the info about that hungarian shop.
  16. Sure stryd, how can I forget it ;) Unintentionally is same as misunderstanding. That is why I try to explain what I exactly meant. I`m glad to hear that. Smash, you can always switch to some non chinese factory, but china is much cheaper. You can`t have everything. :)
  17. I think as popularity of different SID synths grows it will be more hard to find them, and sure prices will get higher. It is strange that nobody produce some modern all in one synth chip similar to SID these days.
  18. Looks great! Never thought that bargraphs could looks so cool! Whas that panel white or it is natural aluminum? Are those double white buttons illuminated?
  19. People on this forum are from so many diferent countries, and tone shouldn`t ever be considered. Contents should be what matters. Not? To me, smash seams more frustrated about my wondering than I projected my frustration to him. :| I am really sorry, my english is not perfect, but in same time far from provocative sounding to me. You, english speaking people are just lucky by nature most of the world speaks english, and you simple get used to it wherever you go and take it for granted . You are probably learning French in schools... how meny of you can properly speak french? I`m out... Peace
  20. Chill Dude, what tone are you talking about? Read again, and you will notice I was just wondering. If you don`t want to do endless help, which is understandable, than you publish both .brd and .PDF schematic. If you publish files on Wiki (PCB Layout Improvements), nobody would bother you with questions regarding Eagle. Sure the are for pro fab house, but there are local services that have proper equipment to do it. Using their service to make PCBs you designed could be the solution to have quality boards. I cannot order from you, and if I could, shipping would cost more than making it locally (Serbia). I can do my regular boards at home, but rather have some of your quality, especially those DOUT boards because they have so many bridges. Nobody is here to serve, and nobody here expects something from anybody! It is all about sharing. I think It would be nice to have access to all files involved in this project. If TK can publish all his work, why is so big deal for you to publish your redesign? ...wish you all the best
  21. The best way to know it is to try it yourself. I tested Live 5 with midifeedback command and it light my LEDs. Live 6 supports various control surfaces that sends midi feedback. I tried LC emulation and MB64 with Mackie control selected in the Live. So Traktor 3.2 does sends feedback? (ok, resend same MIDI to out) Didn`t know that. I don`t understand why you need anny C coding when you can configure MB DOUT registers to react on MIDI in. I tried it?
  22. I wonder why Smash TV never released .brd files for all his boards? If MBHP is open source project everything shuld be published in case somebody needs it. I asked him that over email few times but never got an answer :(
  23. They look great! Thanks sneakthief.
  24. I respect Native Instruments very much, but Traktor sucks! Why... simple because not supporting MIDI good enough. I think current version is 3 and no anny kind of MIDI feedback. I switch to Ableton Live because of that. Not that it supports MIDI... it supports it very well. Be sure to check Wild Weasel pages about Denon conversion: http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=wild_weasel http://stud3.tuwien.ac.at/~e0327352/
  25. Hey sneak, I already checked your links but there is no knobs I see on this picture: Dont you worry about my comment, I am slave of colour minimalism. :P For club useage color coding makes much more sense.
