  1. Moxi, I think only one that trully deserves that gift is Thorsten. None of those big fancy and ugly cheep recycled boxes could be posible without his work and dedication. About the poll, there are poll scripts on the net, but you need to ask administrator Twin-x to do that for you, as it needs PHP and MySQL database access. There are also online polls around, where you don`t need to mess with scripts and databases. Jim, I think that is great idea. I support it in full!
  2. Jonas, whact could be easier than just connecting the buttons to DIN? Code customisation is not what you need. Belive me. You should really start reading everything you can find about MBHP. There are alot of hints about programming in C and asembler. Also, lots of coments you can find in MIOS and aplication files itself. I don`t think you need to strip down anything, just do some reading, make the core module and one DINx1 and you will have minimal configuration to experiment and get idea what do you really want.
  3. Yes, it would be cool. Some people from comunity already done some RGB LED customisation for their boxes. Also, the Robert Hanke`s (Monolake) Monodeck II has RGB LEDs. Monodeck 2 is actually midibox based. Monodeck 1 was Doepher.
  4. Today seams everybody making MIDI controllers. I think they are not thinking much about potential buyers. I think if you making something like MIDI controller, it must looks great or have great spec. IMO the one of the most unpractical, unergonomic and extremly UNCOOL controllers ever is this MIDI Gun. I see that inspiration came from one of the Prince`s videos (microphone gun) wich have some meaning but this... ???
  5. Ok Jeff, that`s your gear. ;) I also don`t make music nowdays. I must say that`s TK guilt! I spend all my free time learning making and testing different MBHP projects. I`m interested in all of it, so really no time for music. :( But one day, when TK retires and when I build evry MBHP project, I can start making music again ;D
  6. I`m not sure I understand why would you buy this controller if you can make same, or much better one based on MBHP. Eastheticaly it is also not something special.
  7. Maaan, don`t sell the machinedrum! Better buy some 100EUR motherboard untill you save enough money for better one. Machinedrum is on my wishlist of all times. Think twice mate.
  8. Hey Sebastian, nice box. What are all those connectors for? Footswitch? I recognise only MIDI and bankstick. :) Where did you get those LED buttons under the LCD? The rounded case is the best of all! Good selection. Pretty retro. ;) I wanted to scavange my old broken Tesla magnetophone for similar rounded case.
  9. I personally don`t see the point of such thing. Also, if the button lights while you press it, you need superbright LED so you can see it light under your finger. If you want to illuminate all the buttons, so you can see it in dark, just power the LEDs all the time. Simple as that. ;)
  10. I wanted the same thing for my LEDs once, and I had idea of doing this hard way - 555 or something. It is definitly much better to do it using software if you know how, but I don`t :-\ You can also try blinking LEDs, but you can`t change the intervals.
  11. Nice recycled case, but I would really like to see the LCD mounted on the angled area over the buttons. Seams there is enough space.
  12. Thank you. About the knobs... it is really strange that plastic knobs are often more expensive than pots itself. Plastic and rubber is very cheap and making knobs are not so hi-tech. Pots are much more complex to make. Here in Serbia, I can buy almost 3 pots for a price of good plastic knob. ???
  13. ...mmm mahogany with tung oil... sounds delicious! :P ;D Once again, great work!
  14. And I must say something about that knobs... These are best knobs I`ve ever seen. They are from Sibalco and cost 1EUR/piece. They are very well made, soft touch, pretty narrow which is good for dense packing on panel. Really good ones, but bit expensive if you need much. He gave 80 EUR just for this controller. ::)
  15. No, LEDs are just for illuminating. What can I do... he knows shit about electronics, and I am always in the mood to help people with same interests as myself. And he made for me the panel on picture, so he is also good friend too. :)
  16. Stryd. I just recently heard about DCB :-[ Do you have some schematic or something usefull?
  17. Man, for £125+shipping and other importing costs... it is too much for me. I`d rather MIDIfy JUNOs keys. I don`t belive it is good idea to pay that money just to MIDIfy 100EUR sinth. It simply dont worth it. I need to restore all the pots from the Juno (gonna use rotary pots), and I am planing to integrate sequencer and take out the keyboard as all keys don`t work, and some are burned with cigarett. So I am planing ro recycle Juno into something else, but MIDI. To bad I cannot restore the keys, they are quite big and nice to play.
  18. Hey Hexman, this is looking good. What kind of woods did you use for your box? Is is made from scratch or recycled?
  19. Yes. That is some DB type connector. Under the red cap, left at the picture is DCB connector. Do you Jaicen know how to use it for inputing MIDI or CV?
  20. Here is wow I illuminated the pannel of the controller for Ableton Live I am building for my friend. The idea was to illuminate the pot outer groves on panel similar to the original Ableton Live but coloured white. For illumination are used 2 superbright LEDs per pot. The panel is made of steel - waterjet cut, but you can have same results using regular CNC mill. Under the panel is 1st white acrylic subpanel which carries all pot (2nd) subpanels and button PCBs. This is just trieout. I need to finish all the boards and start asembling it, and then I am going to publish the results. For now here is few pics.
  21. Hello Moxi, thanks for the reply. I see now I already understood it, but as I knew juno 60 can be controllerd over CV tought that VCF must be the same thing. Finaly I fount out that strange connector on the left is some DCB - Digital Communication Bus which needs special interface to convert CV and Gate. :-\ That interfaces are extremly expensive comparing to my 100 EUR Juno (not the one on picture). The input jacks at the back reads: TAPE (load, save)|ARPEGGIO CLOCK IN|PATCH SHIFT|PELAD HOLD|VCF CONTROL|PHONES... I tought about midification of keys, but I tought it is not very elegant solution. I am gona check that tread about organ midification to see what I have to do. Thanks again Moxi.
  22. I bought Roland Juno 60 some time ago at local fleamarket, but I am all in MIDI, so I vould like to be able to control it from MB SEQ. I am confused about only one "in" that could be CV but it is marked as VCF controll. Is that a same thing? Can I play notes from the sequencer connected to VCF control imput of juno, or it is just imput for filters. I`ve seen on the web MIDI to CV converter for Juno 60 so it must be the truth. I searched the forum about VCF and VCA, but I still dont understan it quite well. As you can see on the image there is no CV or GATE IN
  23. Stryd, you are right about cabeling, but you can`t say you need to be perfectionist for good SMD soldering. Did you see other SMD PCBs he made. Stunning for begginer even after 2 years of learning! But, you dont need just to learn, you need alot of practice to solder like that. I made so meny PCBs, but still hesitate to try SMD soldering, and I think my soldering skills are pretty good. Annyway, it don`t matter is he really begginer, his work is impresive. Keep on LX! ;)
  24. That is exactly what I tought when saw this boards. I don`t say it is not truth but it is hard to belive. For boards like this, controller should be compleetly transparent. It is shame to keep it in tidy like that hidden. What is the use of housing if it don`t have mess to hide? ;D ;D ;D
  25. I`m envious too, he just needs to climb one floor up if he had something to cut, I have to travel to other part of city. :) but I am satisfied I get pretty fair price from this guy ;)
