  1. Yeah, I wanted to make same thing but I`m not good with eagle. I always stuck while finding the parts in library. I hate jumperwires, and I rather connect 2 boards with wires than jumpwire the one board.
  2. I would go with Bee wax. I think it is best because it can be melted and removed if needed. Resins, and silicone is not necessery. I used to put alot of hotglue and it was nightmare once I neded to remove it.
  3. I love photo tutorials, and enjoing making it myself. It is much interesting then plain text. Also, I think the buttons turned pretty good. What is this PCB? DIN + DOUT?
  4. I am very interested in diferent kinds of light works. I could manage by myself just driving LEDs with MIDI, so I am counting on you to make something I could replicate. This hypnocube is cool but bit pricey. I`m sure MIOS could do better for less money ;)
  5. It is STEC12E07 and the price is EUR 1,20 per piece from Albs. I must say I have good experience with Albs and Mr. Balthasar. They ship to Serbia, unlike Mike lot of other and and it arives quickly. Very good service. Check their current stocklist at http://www.albs.de/
  6. I bought alps encoders and they feels pretty good quality. I also have few bourns and they feels cheaper than alps, but they was cheaper. I dont know how are both of them if you use them alot but I can`t say something bad for now. And now, something about electribe... I doubt electribe encoder is much better quality than pots. Electribe have worst pots I`ve see in my life. They are rocking like crazy... almost comic. I have Korg MikroControll, which has worst encoders I`ve ever seen. I bought a new one ant they started to jump after extremly little usage. So, I am startiong to have a very bad opinion about Korgs quality.
  7. PIC 16F84A can be burned with PIC burner and P18 software. ;)
  8. I think voltage doesn`t metter much when I can`t open the code.
  9. Cool, except panel and LCD screen colour this looks like military design. Robust. Congratulations dcer.
  10. Sorry this post is not exactly about MB, but it is question about PIC burner. I tried to burn hex code on 16F628A using working adapter, and working PIC burner. Brener recognise the pic as you can see on the image, but it stop responding when I load the code. ??? Is there anny connection with this modification Thorsten did on his version of PIC burner? Thorsten said" I tried to understand the sprut website using babelfish but I havent got a clue what should I d to program the 628. Is this (sprut.de): have to do with modification TK did on his PIC burner? Please, anny help is wellcome. Thank you in advance.
  11. I would go with LC. In Ableton Live 6 there is a list of Control Surfaces in Preferences where you just need to select Mackie Controll and IN/OUT. I tested it a and it works OK, but again, it can be used only for controling parameters suported by Ableton Live MIDI. In Live 6 midinotefeedback don`t work and Live reports error. In Live 6 kill buttons of EQ3 are MIDI mappable David, what power button are you talking about? Do you mean Device Activator button on the corner of plugin? If so, it can be mappable too.
  12. Sorry for intrusion, but I am very interested in this keyboard. Could someone please post some info it english part of forum? Thank you.
  13. As I have only one can left of my favourite mat black paint (factory bankrupted) I try to save it. Why I love it... well, it is dry in a 5 minnutes and surface is much more mat than anny other paint I`ve ever used. ;)
  14. The floppy motors are used only as a durrable spinning platform connected to the pot :-[ I was in hurry to finish it so I haven`t got a time to order encoder and configure everithig based on MB64E. But, it is just for quick coarse scanning trough a track. Usefull enough for art purposes. :P
  15. Thanks Alex, I like 2 tone look, but I doubt it is going to be 2 tone box. What is the problem... Well, if you glue engraved acryic panel on the top part of C64, you have to do a lot of sanding all around the joint and you need to paint it after sanding which is problem if you want to fill the engraved letters with paint (a must for engraving). The solution could be screenprint or some very high laser CNC machine which can accept thicker materials (whole C64 top part). Evry CNC laser engraver/cutter accepts only few centimeters thick sheet. Also the, top part should be perfectly horizontal since focus of the beem must be at the same high during dhe engraving. There is autofocus function on the more expensive CNC laser machines but I think it focusing during the engraving process. I think it is done only one before engraving/cutting starts. Correct me if I`m wrong. So you need to build a speciall alignement template for the top part to have perfectly horisontal surface for engraving. I think screenprint is the only real solution except lasertran and such. I don`t like the idea of spraying the lasertraned surface for protection. To me the option is oonly engraving or screenprinting. I`m still not sure what to do with the top part, kida gives me headache. :-\ @stryd Thanks, but what to do with inside? Shots? Paintjob?
  16. Thanks Kris, but I wouldn`t peronally call it art, rather freestyle recycling or something. Lots of people call themself an artists and everything is art today :) I am in first place MIDI boxer/music enthusiast. I hope Device art festival is going to be much bigger in the future, and I wish them all the best.
  17. Arn`t that kind of nonlocalised heat (oven) demaging the components? What is happening to the electrolithic caps? Sure, they are not useful after this techneeque but arn`t they explode or something? Plastic coating must be smelly too, but they can be taked off before bakeing. Never tried this but I will, surely.
  18. Thanks Modnar, but I still dream about Jorges mod. What a beautyfull case, and what a pro work. I would really like to hear some more expert advices from him. I`m sure he can give tons of advices. Jooorgee..?
  19. Here you can see finished bottom part. It is sprayed with primer and mat black paint. I am pretty satisfied with result. Currently there is no anny hole except those two for MIDI in/out since I don`t know yet what I am going to use this case for. The top part is just fine cuted and sanded. It is waiting for the acrylic panel which is going to be united to it using same technique. This is it for now. I`ll post more images, but I need to decide first what should I put in it. ;)
  20. It doesn`t matter, they looks exactly the same. Originaly black case is better than custom made since they put pigment in the plastic in the mixing proces. Obviously C16 wasn`t popular as C64. Too bad. I think it is OK if PSU is in it as long as it is shiedled in some metal housing with ventilation holes. It is more compact that way. You don`t gave to drag around one more PSU.
  21. ;D Yeah, you are right. I found my taste flexibile too. But you don`t belive it till it happends. It is mostly about women ;)
  22. Thank you nerf, SLP. @DrBunsen What is shake 'n bake method? I guess you unsolder components using oven?
  23. That would be really great, but I dont think TK ever suport it as those buttons must be expensive as hell. If it needs another core just to handle it that wouldn`t be problem, but price of buttons. I have never wanted to know it`s price. Which one? Novation ReMOTE SL? I like that controller very muck even I don`t know is there something speciall about. It looks great and which is better it is compact. Those sliders seams small but after I tested 100mm and 30mm i figured out that 30 is not hard to use at all, even better than 100 for some cases. But, I don`t think ReMOTE SL offers something speciall compared to LC. I am testing Ableton Live with LC emulation on SEQ platform I am curently building, and I am very satisfied with it. I use regular 100mm faders which is too long for my taste and if I find the 30mm I will use them instead. Damian, what do you like on Novation controller except look and those displays?
  24. The hole will probably be smaller than ball, so ball couldn`t pop out from the controller. As trackball is optical there is no need to take it out often for cleaning, and when it`s needed there will be 8 screws to unscrew (4 from case and 4 from trackball)
  25. As I promised I made few shoots of electronic parts you can reuse. I think EPROM is great for the use because of the window which is cyber version of diamond. It is advised to bend the pins of regular ICs. For bigger immages check out my flickr page http://www.flickr.com/photos/fibra/ But maybe this is not apropriate for this section of forum as it dont have much in common with SID except the fuse ;D
