oooops - I just reread your question and the functions list - my apologies, I completely missed the MIOS_DOUT_PinSet0 funciton - my bad, I shouldn't assume... 1st question - why midi? I.e. are you going to sync to a performance that is running midi anyway, like a band or PA so you can trigger the pyros on say for instance a drum roll? if not, then i'd say DMX might be a better way to go, as you can intergrate with the lighting desk and there are lots of cool lighting programs around.

this is getting painful - please go and read up on C the way to use the function is thus: MIOS_DOUT_PinSet(pin, 0); have a look at your code - if you can't work out why it's not working I can't help you, you simply need to learn more about C or one of us is gonna end up coding your app for you, one line at a time

Stryd, is the new SDCC release allowing you declare vars properly now, rather than just at the top?

how many leds do you have attached? i.e. if you have all 128 outputs attached via the DOUTX4s try moving the cable to the various outputs and isn't that code exactly what's in ain64_din128_dout128_v2_0.zip anyway?

My second failed attempt at a CORE
DavidBanner replied to jrkirkish's topic in Testing/Troubleshooting
there also a lot of iffy looking solder points, you want to cover the hole completely, not leaving any holes. take it nice and slow and do it right; the more possible areas of failure the harder it will be to track down any problems. Plus your core is more likely to fail over time if the soldering isn't up to scratch. -
Monitoring Headphones - your suggestions please

yeah, the MM27s aren't exactly a "impulse buy" item unless you are the Sultan of Brunei. The main thing the MM27s have got going for them is amazing translation, which is what you need if you are serious about your mixes. But they are pretty reasonable given the parts: Bryston amps, 2 x 10" sub per box so no need for a sub (and bye bye phase issues). Especially when you compare them with something like the PMC AML1, which are gorgeous. I've been looking at a new set of monitors for ages and looked and demoed pretty much everything around from Genelec, PMC, Dynaudio, Quested, Earthworks, B&W, Adam and nothing else in their price range touches 'em. I'm really not a fan of the Genelec sound. -

best speaker cable that I've found is a DIY job using a special kind of CAT5 and do a 3 way DIY twisted-treble. best speakers for translation (IMHO) - Barefoot mm27's droool, droool, droool will make a lot of stuff you listen to sound truely rubbish! -

The Sony MDR 7506 are great cans - as long as you don't have to travel with them, the foldaway hindge breaks ALL the time. I've had the same set of HD25's for 10 years and they have been all over the world me - they also can be made to fit in a small space and the best thing is every single part is replaceable and the spares easy to get hold of. They are loud and have a nice Bass kick for locating kick drums in very load clubs, and very very comfortable - esp with the hinged can, so you can move one can off your ear for monitoring -
not wanting to tempt fate or anything, but I think I've sorted it. DiskCaching issue - the only way to fix it is using a UDF (undocumented feature). You creating a file way within the ableton file structure and put a command line in there telling it to turn off the disk caching. this is a pretty poor show from Ableton to say the least, I shudder to think what it could do to a lot of other DJs and to Ableton's reputation... still (hopefully) all fixed and I've ordered some lovely low latency OCZ ram for my laptop (albeit under duress), so she should fly by tommorrow eveing...

lol - I think he meant LCD Soundsystem... who are pretty cool and doing the rounds on the festival circuit...

Audioworld, I'm not using digital inputs, but that's a very good point! And it would explain why switching the Asio driver from one interface to the other and then back (without stopping the audio) worked, and sorted the problem out. My 2 main suspects are ASIO problem, maybe related to buffers or a RAM/Cache issue... The steching/formanting thing is the most curious thing of all, I wouldn't expect a straight Cache/RAM issue to do that. I'll keep y'all up to date on the developments...

I don't dop it for the effects - it's only cause I like the smell ;)

cheers for the tip - I'll reset it immediately! it's a 7200 drive btw... I'm going back in tonight for some more serious testing - fingers crossed....

no, the PF is variable - more than enough room....

hey Stryd, dude - please don't aplogise - I appreciate any time you are kind enough to take to help out... yeah, powdered drugs are soooo last year!

The VSTs I'm running are 7 * Ohmboys, 7 * Camelspace, 1 * Sonalkis Mast Compressor I'm gonna try out my other soundcard - but like I said it takes at least and hour and a half to flush the problem out, so it's a massive PIA debugging it, especially as my time is so limited at the moment... cheers for the tips Styrd, I'll be checking them out and I'll report back...

Hi guys, Anyone who's XP, windows, Ableton savvy and or got a M Audio Quattro please have a read and save my life... I've got a BIG problem and I would really appreciate your help. I upgraded Ableton from 5 to 6 on my laptop this weekend as I had no gigs and - I've tested it on the studio machine and I thought it was all fine... But no! After DJing for 1 hour 15mins or more (this happens consistantly) Ableton starts to glitch then gets worse and worse till it sounds like a really really really timestreched sample. I noticed that the Available Ram (in windows task manager) is slowly being eaten up - this looks like a classic memory leak to me. I'm using a few VST plug-ins, but even when I remove them from ableton it doesn't sort out the problem when it's in the middle of throwing a wobbly, which usually means its not a VST plugin issue - am I right? The CPU is on 15%, so it's not that. I've only got a Gig of Ram, but that should be enough.... I've upgraded to the very latest update and I think it's slightly less bad, but still not usuable. If I change the ASIO driver from one interface to the other the problem goes away - which I think is a massive clue. Possibly a ASIO buffer leak? At the very least it's a "get of of jail free card" till I sort the issue - if I take both interfaces and switch when it goes pear shaped - I'll have to deal with the 1 sec of silence and weird glitch but it's better than the alternative Now I can't use 5 anymore because it'll mean I have to re-warp all my tracks as the warps are not backward compatible... And I have some really important gigs coming up on the weekend, the first of which is a 4 hour set - so I'm not in a good position right now... Questions 1) When the system runs out of RAM does it commit some of the memory to the Page FIle and then dump it out of RAM to give free space? 2) Is throwing another GIG of ram gonna do anything other than delay the issue by a few mins? 3) Is it likely to be a ASIO driver issue with the quattro I'm lugging to gigs at the moment?? i.e. will using a different audio interface make the problem go away? 4) Are Ableton and M-Audio involved in a conspiracy designed to rob me of my free time, sanity and sleep?? All help mucho appreciated!!

lol, we've already been though the discussion on that one... but it's a very cool toy
-
lol, I hope he didn't send any 16 pin Female IDC Connector's - that makes my eyes water just thinking about it....
-
dude, WTF are you doing with your components??? Or is smash running a new "special" service I don't know about???
-
buttons don't toggle like you described... if you hold a button in, or in your case you have a switch closed the value of the pin will read as closed... so you just need to write the firmware to do what it needs to do it would be easy to write a onload function to do what you described, if I'm right in thinking you are talking about switches rather than momentary buttons...

you'll be fine with those The legs don't have the hoops on them, so soldering will be a LITTLE more fiddly but by no means impossible I've just finished soldering looms with 36 panel mounts pots, with the wires soldered directly to the legs. So it's perfectly do-able. and yes you have the holes on the top to fix the little begger to the front face plate
