just built midibox64... how to connect with ableton?...
DavidBanner replied to dizzu's topic in MIDIbox HUIs
you can still map midi events to buttons (et al) in Ableton even if you are in Mackie Mode, but as I recommened it's probably better to use the generic remote setting for the time being to cut out a lot of other midi flying about you could also use the uC33e setting.... -

also if I memory serves me correctly some of the buttons on the MIDIbox64 are used exclusively for program changes and navigation so won't be transmitting data. ain64_din128_dout128_v2_0.zip transmits everything.... -

mmmm, I'm tempted to do a RTFM answer but won't ;) 1st - Have you uploaded MIOS, then MidiBox64 app? 2nd - You might want to test the buttons work with one of the test apps 1st - i.e. ain64_din128_dout128_v2_0.zip found here: http://www.ucapps.de/mios_download.html Then once you've established you've got working buttons on the LCD, and the midi works (cause you've uploaded the app) - go to the ableton preferences and make sure you have the TRACK, REMOTE etc etc turned on for the midi interface you are using to connect to the box as far as the remote is concerned you might be best off using a generic setting at the moment also - don't forget to map the midi to the buttons in Ableton.... -
welcome to the board.... the fact you are planning the project in such a way is a very good sign of things to come....

ahh ha! I found just such a thing recently and was well pleased, very cheap and saves a whole lotta drilling and bolting.... http://www.rapidonline.com/productinfo.aspx?tier1=Tools%2c+Fasteners+%26+Production+Equipment&tier2=Fasteners+%26+Fixings&tier3=Fixings+%26+PCB+Pillars&tier4=Self-adhesive+PCB+pillars&moduleno=64771

never been there myself, but I did some of the post-production on the audio/music for a TV documentary called "Rave Against The Machine" which was about the party scene over there during the war. Some of the guys who were the subject of the film came over and visited. Some of the stories are mad: they were stealing generators from the UN to put parties on. One of the parties had a sniper outside and people were being shot going into the party! I even had a guy from the UN Psyops chatting to me about DJing over there. It makes our risks and occasional brushes with the law, when doing warehouses seem laughable in comparison - big respect to everyone over in that part of the world...

it's gonna get a lot more expensive once you figure all the tools, esp if you want to make your own pcbs.... -
device header info: http://www.avishowtech.com/mbhp/idinst.txt if you are only using 1 core you don't need to worry about IDs, just pick the type of LCD you are going to use and make the choice as to the header... info on PICs: http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=mios_pic18f4620 both of these links were lifted from smashTVs site - check it out, digg into the information, read everything and learn lots of stuff you didn't even know would be useful at the same time ;)

I'm not trying to put you off, but I'm trying to hint that you need to do the work b4 ppl will help you out. It sounds like you are up for doing the work, so start searching the forums!! Your english seems fine, so I don't think you'll have too much trouble. The PSU at link you sent will PROBABLY work for your box, but then I haven't counted the amount of amps the leds etc in your box will pull, you should.... -

mmmm, either you are being very lazy (tutt tutt), or you are going to have a hard time building your box due to a massive lack of knowledge... either way my advice is to read lots more of Ucapps and the forums... -
search the forums, this is one of the most asked questions.....

Does an emulation have to be completely implemented in software ?
DavidBanner replied to Dunewar's topic in MIDIbox HUIs
all your questions will be answered if you start to look at the code... I had all the same questions as you, but now I am familar with MIOS and the C programs written for it I can easily do any of the things you mentioned... Build the box and play with the code, the rest will fall into place - after a bit of tinkering and headscratching inbetween... -
I've tested the feedback a couple of times, can't hurt a 3rd I guess, but I'm pretty sure it's the case. The problem with unsupported features is that the developers will play around with them as they feel fit, so it can easily change between releases..

just started reading those threads carefully - wow, some really cool info I missed! Thanks again and BTW: re automapped midifeed back, i haven't checked everything, but I'm working with things like the cue and that defo doesn't work with out a script active....
-
Cheers for the links - very interesting... That's not actually true (not with the version of 6 I'm running anyway), you still needed to use the txt file hack in 5 to get it to work too.... the only way to get the note feedback on is to use one of the scripts.... this works 100%, I'm using the mackie control script and reverse engineering it... I also figured out the scripts are written in python, so I'm investigating that angle too...

you need a vector based program like Freehand or Illustrator, you can do it with Photoshop but it will be a pain in the ass... set the units of measurement to mm (or whatever you are happy with) and you will have a 1-1 print in your measurements....

:o - slaps forehead! DOH! Still, it's gonna make wiring easier in future.... Thanks for the info...

no, not yet anyway.... But it does have a few weird signs (including one about Japanese Knotweed), 4 clubs next door to it - which means Thurs - Sat I have a line of pretty girls out the front and an espresso machine. Which means I pretty much never see my house except on the rare occasion I get some sleep... I need to grow a long weird beard, get a big stick and complete the lifestyle I think....
