  2. hey Sasha - you do know people have started calling you Iron Kisser right? ;)
  3. Sasha - what's the name of the company (or even better a url)? I need to get a panel done and I'm searching around for a decent place....
  4. Hi people, I'm having problems, the kind that make me all sad and angry and green ;) I've done my frontpanel layout in Freehand (so it's all vectors), and printed it out, done the cut-outs on paper to check it all fits etc etc. BUT no-one takes Freehand files for CNC work, so I need to convert the files across. I've tried AIDE - PDF to DXF converter - it looks okay (to my very very untrained eye) in Autocad 2000 to me, but the CNC place said it had errors like double lines etc. I opened the DXF In KellyCam it's completely boned. It would make my day/week/month if someone out there would be kind enough to do one of the following for me: a) tell me the best way to convert the file from Freehand to DXF and and tricks, or tell me a program which won't take 3 months to learn where I can import a 100% size version of my work (i.e. as JPG or TIF) and layout over the top to produce a decent DXF. b) have a quick peek at the PDF (preview to see what I meant it to look like) and DXF files I've made and let me know if it's really boned and if so how badly. cheers, D
  5. looking forward to that video - we need to make sure we have footage of stryd's face while watching....
  6. i'll take some too please, 50 or so
  7. ahhh! nice work there, you answered all your own questions - my work here is done (for now) ;)
  8. Hi Ya, And welcome to the board! hehehe - I know that feeling well, it's followed by a feeling that your brain is melting once you really start to absorb the info. Everything you need to know can be found on the web site, wiki and by searching the forums. This is a DIY site so it's all about putting the research and effort in, when u get stuck there are lots of very clued up people around to point you in the right direction. It depends on the application you intend to upload or code yourself. Most stuff is fine on the PIC18F452, check the docs for the program(s) u intend to use. If you get the PICs from smashTv MIOS is already uploaded, you upload the programs u need into the same chip after u have uploaded MIOS (if u didn't get the chips from smashTV). All new updates will be found on uCApps, any updates can be done via midi. Read the board - it's all there. I would suggest u start by ordering some kits from smashTV, check his site top to bottom - there are some great resources on there too. search the forums - huge wealth of info on that subject to be found there...
  9. I was speaking to SD in the lounge last night and asked the very same question... No he doesn't, but the stick has a thread at the top so you could always tap a thread into pretty much anything..... I got some of these joysticks from Altronics too - we likey....
  10. sasha - man that wood looks seriously good - and it's gotta feel even more of an atchievement after all the crap you've been through recently right? prof: ahhh - drop me a P/M b4 hand if I'm around that weekend I'll pop by and say hi.
  11. okay bit more info please: a) is the core sending it's upload request via midi when it's 1st turned on? b) if yes to a, which app have you uploaded? You should also attach a pot for the contrast ( i think this is what midiboxxer meant), sometimes you can't see anything on the LCD screens until you set the contrast. if you can it might be an idea to run out an grab another PSU for testing - they are cheap cheap, and it might help eliminate an issue with that old (think heavy and unreliable) c64 PSU you got there. Maplin do some pretty decent ones and you are never too far from a maplin.
  12. was that for Submission or The Rubber Ball?
  13. I'm definately up for at least 2 - Big, Flat Encoder-Knobs for Jog-Wheels if you can get them... It's a shame the tang on the metal fader knobs isn't right for my faders, they look lovely!
  14. Tk, do you mind if use you demo to drop under stuff while I'm DJing? It's pure Ableton ear candy!!
  15. wow - that is sounding amazing! I've gone from wanting a SID box to needing one right now!
  16. you'll only need the bankstick to save banks MIOS works fine without the Bankstick attached
  17. drop smashTV an email (get the address from his site) - I'm sure he'll let you know...
  18. good shout wicked1 - I think it could definately help. midiboxxer - While I think that everyone should gain the basic tech experience they need to build the project I don't think beginners should be discouraged. I'm sure this site has encoraged many many people to gain the experience they need once they realise how useful and cool that knowledge will be, it'd be a shame to discourage anyone. And lets face it, there is no shortage of people round here willing to tell someone off for being lazy and not doing their homework, usually with some encoragement and a link or 2
  19. what a nightmare, those pins are sooo small and sooo numerous - I though I'd bent some pins on my 930D and got a cold sweat just thinking about trying to rebend them....
  20. ummm, let's not unload too many of our pent-up frustrations on fky, we don't want to scare him! Fky - we're actually quite a friendly bunch - honest.... also, some-what belatedly - welcome to the board. I think you've got the vibe here - lots of help to those who help themselves. nice one liinnerd - looks like you've been doing your homework :)
  21. no! :P you are being very lazy! How do you expect to build the box if you can't work that out!! Read the site, learn and work it out for yourself, if you get stuck ppl will help you out if you ask specific questions...
  22. I've got a drill press like that for my dremmel, it's magic for doing holes, but I don't think you'll get great slots like that. stryd makes a good point about the size of the table... :( no way it'd do a panel the size I need...
  23. mmm, that is a very nice tool - I didn't even know there was such an animal - cheers Cimon
