  1. ***goblinz ponders over what geeky tattoos stryd has that are too geeky to show on an internet forum*** Have you got a full back piece done of a Bill Gates' head?
  2. Go on then Stryd, get yer tats out and post some pictures. I'd love to see how this guy is going solder whilst reading the schematic... maybe he's perfected presumed lost ancient art of soldering whilst hopping on one leg and looking down technique, he is a true ninja.
  3. Took me two searches and a couple of minutes! "power supply pin" didn't yield anything useful. "Power supply pinout" came up with this. http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,9775.0.html Hope that's what you were looking for. G
  4. DO I have to supply the custard? ;) really looking forward to the distro... we'll need some Snazzy Midibox stickers for the CD's/USB drives!
  5. Stryd, I think I love you! I used to use Linux a fair bit but for some reason I can't remember I stopped.. prolly something to do with Redhat and un-supported hardware. I'd like to get back using it and would be a good excuse to start learning again alongside all the othe rmidibox things I need to learn. I like the idea of a USB stick/Live CD as it means you can take it anywhere and use it on anybodies PC without having to install things to their drive. So now I'm curious.... How many people are really interested in this? Me for sure. What are the chances of linux being your primary OS? Or would this be something you'd use as a secondary option? This would be a secondry option for midiboxing/electronics/maybe music production in gerneral. I still need doze, but it would be really good to have anice clean, stable Linux distro to boot in for music stuff Should this be more strictly midibox focussed, or is it worth broadening the scope for other goodies (won't be hard) like AVR, arduino, Synth-DIY, etc (could be a general DIY audio/electronics distro) See above! What features or apps would be a "must have" for you? Don't know enough to say What would you really like to see? Some nice music apps What would be a dealbreaker? Umnn.. lost of nice midibox customisation! Are you an ubuntu hater? Did it not "just work" for you? Do you have any other suggestions? (remember , "just works" is a must) Have no problems with it. Personally my preference is redhat/mandrake, although I quite like the look of SUSE. Can you help if we do this thing? Not really, I don't have enough experience of Linus/coding midibox, but if there's anything I can do let me know, whether it be Monkey testing it or whatever.
  6. Oi, this forums only big enough for one goth! * *otherwise the server crashes. ;D
  7. I disagree, there's a few people round here that make people's lives a lot easier, whether it be designing, organising PCB's, helping out making it easier/cheaper to get bits and pieces, etc, etc and really contribute to making the community what it is. You've helped others and myself out on countless occasions and the task of ordering the componants would have completely put me off the x0x, expecially with the rarity of some of them. Thanks goes out to Sasha on this one too for his work and patience with amending and sorting fabrication of the PCBS and front panels. Now stop objecting, praise has been given where praise is due! G
  8. The round shaft encoders will suit me just fine as I'm planning on using the red Sifam knobs which have round hole! I'd like an extra set though as I may change my mind and use different knobs later on. Thanks again Prof, you need your picture putting up in the midibox hall of fame! G
  9. Hope Prof won't mind me repeating this here (from a PM). Hopefully it will clear up the order status anyway. "I've got the first Mouser run in, and Digikey is on the blocks now, so soon we can all be x0xing away merrily."
  10. I would jsut liek to add my apologies to this thread for the lateness of the packages going out. I've been having some quite serious family issues at home over the past couple of months that have taken priority. Things are getting a bit better now so we are back on track. G
  11. Basically you have to pay me the sum of one bright yellow Geiger counter thingy and I'll let you in. ;D
  12. Am I alone in the fact that I don't have a workspace? We have a large wood burning stove (Aga) at home so I just get everything out and use the top of it. G
  13. How many are we still waiting for?
  14. ***Goblinz hangs his head in shame*** I think I even remember seeing the thread, will remember to search in future.
  15. It's all a bit strange! If you go to the info about the SID module page on SmashTV's site the notes say this Which contradicts the Ucapps SID info Can anybody with a little more knowledge clarify this? G
  16. Sorry Sahs, got a lot on so hard to keep track of things at the moment. Invoice has been payed. G
  17. Hmnn,, this is making me cry. I want me a bright yellow geiger counter!
  18. Were you using ultra-bright LEDs before?
  19. I'm still waiting for an invoice. I've contacted Mike requesting one and am waiting for a reply. Please can you let me know the amount for one panel and postage to the UK so that in the event of me not getting invoiced then I can just send payment across. Eddie
  20. I'm probably not the best person to anser this as I haven't got a working SID yet, but... I''m quite sure that you need to use different filter caps, this has been covered on the forum and Ucapps, read here http://ucapps.de/mbhp_sid.html "470 pF caps for 6581, 22nF caps for 8580" are the suggested values There's also some information and links on there with regards to the power supply which you may find useful. G
  21. No, please see above. I will start a new thread/wiki page at some point soon. People will still have a bit of a wait a while before they are at the control surface stage as the PCBs aren't here yet so I believe there is no rush ATM, feel free to PM if you feel different to this (I do understand that not everybody is building the wilbabeast). At the moemnt I'm having lots of family issues which I need to get out of the way before i start deaing with knobs. It would be unfair for me to start an order at the moment as I don't have the time to commit to it. next month things hopefully will have calmed down a bit and we can get things rolling again. Eddie
  22. Hi Sasha, Got my replacement card now and is set up on paypal, please send the invoice ASAP to my paypal email "edliddle at hotmail dot com". One more thing.. Is there nay chance you can delay sending this for a couple of weeks? I'm away festivallin in Germany so won't be around and it may end up getting returned to sender. Eddie
  23. Wilba hasn't been organising bulk orders of the Waldorf knobs, he's already constantly busy mining in the australian outback for SIDS, or occasionally OPL's (OPL / OPL, Opals, see what I did there :D). Wilba managed to identify and source the knobs (please correct me if i'm wrong) and bugfight and myslef have been sorting out the large orders from the distributers. Try looking through the last waldorf bulk order thread to get an idea of how it will work next time, you will find a link to the wiki page in the first post. I will open up another thread when I'm doing another order. It makes more sense (and would save time) to wait untill the PCBs/parts kits are ready, or at the very least, untill the next batch of front panels are nearing being ready. This way we hopefully will get most people included, rather than having a situation where people haven't bothered getting them because they haven't thought about the other, more vital pieces yet. Posting an interst in other threads is a bit pointless as I'm not going to go through them when order time comes up. Please feel free to add your name to the list when I get it up and you won't get missed out. G
  24. Not everybody has a 303. Just saw it and thought someone would findit of interest.
