  1. I'm looking into a batch of custom wound toroidal transformers for the MB-808 project - they'll have dual 15V secondaries to provide +/-15V for the analog section PLUS a 5V winding to be used for the digital section. That way, we won't have to chain a 5V regulator after the 15V section, and it should be fine for devices that require +/-12V and +5V too... So far, the minimum quantities for custom windings are large (500x) or expensive ($50), so I'm hoping that I can drum up enough interest to go for the quantity and get them at a better price. Here's the group buy sign up link: http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/dougwellington_transformer_bulk_order EDIT: the info is on the wiki page, but just to clarify, there are dual inputs to handle both 110V and 220V....
  2. Hey! You're a knob...! Wait... I mean... *I'm* a knob... No, umm... Maybe it's, "I have a knob"...? Wait, wait, wait, that's not what I mean... Oh, I know! I got my package of knobs in the mail! *THAT* is what I meant to say...!
  3. Alps are really nice. I've got a group buy going for the motorized ones too...! http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/dougwellington_alps_type_n_motorfader_bulk_order When I get close to another multiple of 160, I'll order the next batch...
  4. I'll put a template FPD file on the web so that you can all start working on panel designs that will fit on this case. Sure. Absolutely. No problem. ... Wait, what am I agreeing to? ;D If you guys are patient while I finish the MB-808 and MB-6582 panels first, I'll be happy to do custom multicolor panels... :) Yes, I have the same basic design in different depths (or rack mount height if you prefer), at the moment, 3U, 4U and 7U. I can leave off the holes if you want to use different connectors. I'll post more info soon...
  5. My martial arts teacher can beat up your martial arts teacher!!! :P
  6. No, silly... the MIDI sockets!
  7. OK, am I just too tired to have caught the meaning here? I'm ordering a bunch of these for the MB-808, so do you want me to order a bunch extra for a group buy? Or are you going to order some and I should get them from you?
  8. It's looking like I'll take some multiple of 64 of the switches, plus the same number of opaque caps...
  9. I got all of mine yesterday!
  10. Ah, I should have asked what colors you had... What colors did you package up for me?
  11. Not to hijack the thread, but I'm planning to build a sequencer with all the bells and whistles, including the 16x4 matrix. (Initial renders at http://www.midiboxaddict.com/mbmatrixseq) I'm currently working on the MB-808, and then I need to finish the MB-6582 panels next, so my sequencer won't happen until next year (which is only six months away). ;D If you want a sequencer without the matrix though, Wilba is your man. 8) (Please don't reply to this message here. If you're interested in my sequencer, please PM me, or wait a bit until I start a dedicated topic about it.)
  12. That was me. Things are going as they always do in MIDIbox land... ;D I'm finishing panels and cases and shipping out E-Switches for the MB-808, I've ordered more switches and potentiometers for the next batch, I've ordered Alps motor faders for the group buy and I've got samples of the PA397 on the way... The MB-6582 panels are next!
  13. I'd also suggest checking out gEDA... http://www.geda.seul.org/
  14. But my school project is due *this* Friday!!! :'(
  15. Ah, right, you mean Neal Peart! Doug
  16. 18 Euro? I'll take four... (I almost hate to ask how much shipping will be though...) Doug EDIT: P.S. Which version are they? (Classic? Xtreme?)
  17. Hey, sorry to take so long to give you guys an update - I've been finalizing the MB-808 panel set and getting ready for the third batch of MB-808 kits, plus I just placed the order for Alps motor faders and potentiometers and I'm working on the PA397 group buy... :D I'm going to review the quotes that I've received for the MB-6582 panels this week and see what's the best deal for us. More soon, Doug
  18. OK, got some info! :D It's basically a 3396 with stereo outs. It's now a 28 pin chip instead of the 24 pin package that the 3396 came in. In reasonable quantities (100) it's less than $25 each - for 500, it's less than $20 each, but I don't have a spare $10k to invest in that kind of order. Should I start a group buy? Doug
  19. UPDATE: I have ordered the first batch of 160. As soon as I know the final price, I'll add it to the wiki. I'll won't take payment until the faders are here and I know what the final shipping costs are.
  20. I don't know what other countries charge for import fees. Where are you? Maybe someone else from your country will know...
  21. But I need one right now! My school project is due by the end of the month! Oh the agony...
  22. I'll take a look again. Unfortunately, the wire came completely off, so I need to find the solder joint with the divot in it - so far no luck...
  23. OK, if it can help you get this buy going, put me down for four sets...
