Oh, well, we'll work out the details at some point... I'll probably cover the North American orders... I just talked to my distributer - he thinks the motorfaders are on the ship and should be here in a couple weeks...
-
Got my boards now too! Woohoo...! So who wants some of these SSM chips?
-
Madox, sure, I can add a couple extras. Smithy, well...I already *do* have a shop! I just might be adding more to it... ;D Frailn, I'll machine the panels, then have them anodized, then I'll silkscreen them. I can also have the panels powdercoated or I can spray the Nextel finish (as Waldorf used on the Pulse, Microwave XT, etc) on them. Dreamer, does that answer your question as well? Slorrin, these are the same basic design as the originals - that is, the holes are in the same place, but the silkscreen is now multi-color. If your panels are good, you don't need to order any new ones. If your panels have bad silkscreening, I can fix that for you.

OK, good to know... Even though I'm a Merkan ;), I have a lot of M3 nuts and bolts, so I can include those too. What's the best length to use, Wilba?

Alrighty, I've been shopping a couple panel designs around, and it's looking like I'm going to actually save money and make it cheaper for you guys by buying my own CNC mill! (I used to work in a machine shop and program G-Code, and no, I am *not* going to buy a DIY mill kit no matter how cool it seems - I want to get real work done...) This leads to an interesting question... I'm going to need to buy blank panels (or cut big sheets) for the various panels. Now, if you all want to use the PT-10 cases for various projects, they are going to come with the panels, so you could either buy the PT-10 yourself and send the panels to me for machining, or I can buy a bunch of the PT-10 cases, machine the panels, and send the whole thing to you. If I buy at least 100, and maybe even 250 at a time, I'll get a better deal, and I can pass that savings on to all you MIDIbox folk. What do you think? P.S. Stay tuned for my wooden replacement for the PT-10...

Wow... Simple question, tough to answer... 1.) Buy a copy of The Art of Electronics 2.) Read the entire book from cover to cover 3.) Buy as many electronics kits as you can 4.) Build all kits and study schematics until you know why the circuit is designed the way it is 5.) Fix those kits when they don't work - figure out where you messed them up 6.) Buy a PIC development kit 7.) Learn PIC assembly language 8.) Buy a copy of Eagle 9.) Buy a copy of The Circuit Designer's Companion 10.) Read the entire book from cover to cover 11.) Use knowledge gained from step #10 to use tool from step #8 12.) Contact as many parts vendors as possible - learn about different sizes, shapes, and electrical characteristics of all parts 13.) Buy some CAD program 14.) Read all documentation of CAD program and start designing panels that line up with all parts on pcb designs from step #11 15.) Order prototypes of pcbs and panels 16.) Assemble them, find problems, redesign, reorder 17.) Read every message on MIDIbox, Electro-Music and GroupDIY forums. Read all email messages on SDIY email list. 18.) Buy and read all Electronotes 19.) Repeat until tired, bored or dead ;D

group buy for ultracore (core + 4x IIC + 8 banksticks)

Very good... I'm glad the pcb got to you! -
Who wants +/-15 and +5 triple secondary toroids?
Doug Wellington replied to Doug Wellington's topic in Bulk Orders
The MB-808 is part of what started this whole idea, then I expanded it to cover other devices in the MIDIbox world. Using it for devices that need +/-12v instead of +/-15v means you'll just burn off a few extra volts as heat... I do plan to include this toroid in the MB-808 kit, so you won't need to order one here... -
Got mine too - thanks! ;D
-
Get a lynching party! ;D OK, now that pcbs are available, it's time for the panel run. I'm meeting with my laser guy tomorrow (Wednesday), so we'll get a final price together and get things going...
-
Just got the notice: they needed 50 orders to make the Aurora fly, and apparently they got less than 20...

Thank you... It's nice to be old enough to forget about things and then be reminded of them again...

Ah...! Do I see both Monome and Sparkfun buttons there??? Interesting comparison... -
group buy for ultracore (core + 4x IIC + 8 banksticks)

Some times the post is pretty silly. TheProf sent me two packages of Cybikos - one arrived three weeks ago, and one arrived two days ago! And they both had the same date on the postage mark. At least the post doesn't handle packages as roughly as UPS does... (EDIT: I'll send a pcb to Vincent when I get his address.) -
Paid. Where are my chips???! :P
-
No problem... Ask away! (Might be a good excuse for me to update my woodworking web page too...!)
-
Yeah, smells like old bicycle innertubes to me! [me=Doug Wellington]shudders...[/me] Actually this is one reason I'm glad it's summer in Arizona - the window is open and the swamp cooler is blowing all the fumes right out! ;D
-
I love wood - I put wood end panels on everything I can! 8) I'm lucky - I've got this place right here in town: http://www.woodworkerssource.com/ I have a complete woodshop in my garage - anybody need anything? ;D

CLOSED: Black Re'an P401 Soft-touch knobs - 39 cents each
Doug Wellington replied to nebula's topic in Bulk Orders
I think that's all I got too. I have purchased many things on ebay or from people on the internet, and sometimes the paypal message is all I ever see before I get the item... I have also done group buys and I run a business selling parts. Sometimes I have customers who call me from here in the same city and expect me to ship to them right away before I finish shipping other orders. I don't think it's fair to everyone else to ship to the local people until it's their turn... Maybe you weren't first in line? I have seen posts from people who have received knobs, so I believe you will get yours soon. Getting your money back is something I think you should discuss privately with nebula in email or PM, not publicly on this forum... -
Woohoo!!!

Hiya dstamand, there are several of us who have dealt with nebula in the past, with good results. I'm sure you'll get your knobs soon. As you can see by his post count, Stryd has been around a while, and he is quite the protective type. My guess is that anything non-committal you post will be taken as a negative thing by him. Is that what you intend? -
Who wants +/-15 and +5 triple secondary toroids?
Doug Wellington replied to Doug Wellington's topic in Bulk Orders
OK, well, without getting into the whole Root Mean Square thing... ;) The idea is to be able to provide enough power to work with the regulators we're using in the MB-808 - 2A for 5V and 15V and 1.5A for -15V. For reference:

+5V L78S05CVhttp://www.st.com/stonline/books/pdf/docs/2148.pdf

+15V L78S15CVhttp://www.st.com/stonline/books/pdf/docs/2148.pdf

-15V L795CVhttp://www.st.com/stonline/books/pdf/docs/2149.pdf

I'm also planning to put together a standard power supply circuit board that I can put in my various projects. Stay tuned for another group buy! ;D -

I don't have an exact weight yet, but I think it will be about 450g. I'll be happy to ship anywhere... -

Doug Wellington replied to Doug Wellington's topic in Bulk Orders
Thats what *I* thought... Haven't found one yet, and I have...(looks)...eight toroid manufacturers on my contact list so far... Lots of dual secondary stuff out there...
