Well, it's not an FPD file, but here's the design I'm working on... http://www.analognotes.com/mbmatrixseq Transport controls on lower right below jog/data wheel. Above that are group select, track select, layer select and trigger select buttons. On the LCD display panel, the 1-16 and 17-32 LEDs are on the left and there's a beat LED on the right under the three digit LED BPM display... :D

Welcome! I'm pretty new around here myself. Great place to learn things... :) Doug

Heehee, I thought I was going to be the first to add my name - I went to the wiki page, signed in, and when I clicked "edit", you had already been there! :P ;D Doug http://www.analognotes.com/mbmatrixseq

What's the status of this? Are chips available here? Thanks...

1) I like to support the DIY community 2) If I don't contract for the whole run, it's easier to join a group buy for a single panel 3) I primarily work with .125" thick metal for my front panels I use EAGLE...does that mean I should lay out all my own circuit boards too? ;) Doug http://www.analognotes.com

LCD 20x4 Crystalfontz : CHANGED to OrientDisplay_Red_Negative
Doug Wellington replied to Kartoshka's topic in Bulk Orders
I have also asked CrystalFontz about the RTI displays, but I asked for the 40x2 size. (Same 300 minimum.) They only make the RTI in a 16x2 at the moment, so I'm going to test one of those out (I'll post pictures when I get it) to see if it's worth looking into the 300 minimum. That's enough for 150 Midibox SEQ's... Are there another 149 of you interested in a group buy? :o ;D Doug http://www.analognotes.com -
Hello Steve, I'm Doug, I do silkscreening. ;D (And painting/airbrushing, and machine work, and electronics assembly, and...) After I'm done with the MB-808 panels, I'll be happy to work on the MB-6582. I already got a copy of the graphic file. Unless something else happens here, I'm going to fix my own 6582 panel - when I do that, I'll have a screen that I can use for other people too... Doug http://www.analognotes.com

I also have noticed the alignment flaws on my panel, and there is even a smear in the ink on the line right above the LFO section... :'( EDIT: I also see burrs in some of the holes on my panel... Doug

LCD and encoder "meter bridge"?
Doug Wellington replied to Doug Wellington's topic in Design Concepts
That is good news! That's OK. It will take me some time to finish building everything myself. (I have designed a desktop case for the MB-808 and I'm getting prices to see if other people will join me for a group buy.) I am also planning to build a control surface and MB sequencer for the Introspectiv 9090 and I want to use this same LCD setup for that too... Doug http://www.analognotes.com/mb808 -
Count me in too please, with PICs... Doug

I'm building and modifying an MB-808 (http://www.eight-oh-eight.org), which is a TR-808 clone with a drum-machine optimized version of the MB SEQ v3 built in. The MB-808 is not set up to use the dual displays like the MB SEQ v3, so I'm designing an add-on to it that will include the two LCDs, a row of encoders, and optionally LEDs and switches. Does something like this have any usefulness outside of the MB-808 project? Doug http://www.analognotes.com/mb808

U.S. BULK ORDER - MB-6582 Knobs from ALBS (the "Waldorf" knob)
Doug Wellington replied to bugfight's topic in Bulk Orders
What is the minimum order you need to reach? Does the minimum apply to each color, or to the total order? Thanks... -
The first few of us are finishing up hardware and sorting out assembly issues. Moogah is currently working on the software that runs the whole thing. Before we think about another batch, I think we should finalize some kind of case/mounting panel and finish the software and documentation and make sure the whole thing works... I don't know how much advertising there has been, but here are a couple references: http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=drumstuff http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=7036.msg46015 I believe the MB808 started as a hobby for Moogah, and then he decided to take orders for pcbs. My guess is that it has been a lot more work than he expected it to be... E-Switch seems to be the only company that makes orange switches... [shrug] It's the best price I've found for colored E-Switches with single LEDs in the (low) quantity we want. If I could order 500 of each color, I could get a better price... These are more like the ones I'm ordering (with single LED): http://www.reichelt.de/?ARTICLE=7248 It looks like those are not available in orange? And they don't come with LEDs? (Only some cents, but it's nice to get the E-Switches with the LEDs already bent and trimmed.) Doug http://www.analognotes.com http://www.stoogepanels.com http://www.dougwellington.com

I'm pretty new around here, but I have worked on lots of DIY stuff over the years. I recently got involved with the MB808 project, which is a clone of the TR-808 with a MIDIbox sequencer attached to it. The design was done by Moogah, but I've volunteered to help him out with designing the graphics for the case and helping out with administering the forum. You can check out the MB808 project at: http://www.eight-oh-eight.org/phpbb2/ Since the original TR-808 has red, orange, yellow and white switches, I have organized a group buy of E-Switch 5500 series single LED switches in those four colors. A set of sixteen colored switches will be $50 plus shipping/handling. (NOTE: there is a nine week lead time on the order...) More info on the switches is at: http://www.e-switch.com/index.php?contentID=261&type=push&seriesID=37 I'm running the group buy at the MB808 forum ( http://www.eight-oh-eight.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=80 ), but thought that since it's a MIDIbox project, I should post something over here as well in case anyone else wants them. Let me know if you're interested here or at the MB808 forum... Doug http://www.analognotes.com http://www.stoogepanels.com http://www.dougwellington.com

Don't forget the FatMan! http://www.nuxx.net/wiki/PAiA_FatMan_Plus I'm planning to put together a MIDIbox64e in a PT-10 as well... Doug http://www.analognotes.com http://www.stoogepanels.com http://www.dougwellington.com

Vote what Frontpanels for the MB6582 you would like
Doug Wellington replied to Twin-X's topic in Bulk Orders
I'd like one of the alternative panels, but I like the font weight in the pic the first page of posts, not the pdf that is linked to later on - I prefer the thinner font... Doug http://www.analognotes.com http://www.stoogepanels.com http://www.dougwellington.com -
If I understand what you're asking, for the SEQv3, you'll want the PIC18F4620 because it has a bit more RAM... Doug

While we're all running around crazy-like, let me throw one more possibility out. We could have panel overlays made like c0nsumer did on his x0xb0x. Check it out: http://www.nuxx.net/wiki/x0xb0x Doug http://www.analognotes.com http://www.stoogepanels.com http://www.dougwellington.com

If you're concerned with durability, shouldn't you stay away from anodize then? Go ahead, drag the edge of a quarter along your anodizing, I dare ya! ;D Doug P.S. No, don't really do that with the quarter - I had a quite well known bass luthier demonstrate to me just how hard "hard anodize" was by putting a big gouge in it with a screwdriver... :o :-[ :'( http://www.analognotes.com http://www.stoogepanels.com http://www.dougwellington.com

Thanks! Fun to be here. I have *lots* of ideas for projects! Well, I knew the cool people would be hanging out there! ;D Heehee, I've learned with the best! I was so impatient to have my own panels that I even bought the whole stooge panel business! The nice thing about that is when I make panels for myself, I don't have to charge setup fees if anyone else wants one... 8) Doug http://www.analognotes.com http://www.stoogepanels.com http://www.dougwellington.com

Hmmm, why do you say that? I started CNC stuff back in the mid-80's, and I think it's just gotten easier... Doug http://www.analognotes.com http://www.stoogepanels.com http://www.dougwellington.com

It's all about the instant gratification! ;D I have the FPD file and I have converted it to DXF. There's also a newer version of the panel that may be preferable... I *will* be manufacturing my own panel, so that means I'll have the CNC programming and silkscreen done. If everyone can be patient until later this year, I'll be able to fix you up. EDIT: Woohoo, my first post! Doug http://www.analognotes.com http://www.stoogepanels.com http://www.dougwellington.com
