KnowGood Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Will you be able to daisy chain them like you would be able to with say emagic's AMT-8 or Unitor8? Quote
nILS Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 If the question is "does that board come with an integrated USB hub or something similar that lets you hook up another gm5 board to it" the answer is no. If that's not what you're asking: I don't get the question ;-) Quote

If that's not what you're asking: I don't get the question ;-)Sorry, what I am getting at is if more than one of these is built and to be used, once you have one connected to your computer can an additional one be connected to the first via USB or would each unit require it's own USB port? nILS Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Correct, each unit needs its own usb port on the computer.Don't get smithy started about anything ;-)edit: By "USB port" I mean a USB socket 'somewhere' as in "the gm5x5x5 module does NOT come with a built-in USB-thru or USB-hub" Quote

Smithy Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 i am interested in 2You must add your name to the list on the wiki page as stated in the first post:http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/gm5_expansion_5x5_boardDont see your name on there! ;)n Quote
SLP Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 btw has anybody ever come up with an open source usb hub schematic/board?AFAIK not, but I don't think that it's worth to DIY when you can have a *very* small 4-port USB-Hub for as little as ~5€ Quote

eby Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 is this USB 1 (12Mbps) or USB 2 (480Mbps) ?. And what is the speed 1Mhz or 4Mhz ?. Sorry didn't find any tech spec :-[ Quote
Gerrit Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 is this USB 1 (12Mbps) or USB 2 (480Mbps) ?. USB2 can also be 1.5Mbps. ;)USB2.0 simply adds the 480Mbps mode to the 1.5 and 12 Mbps (and does some minor enhancements).Since the 480Mbps mode works completely different to both others device and host must negotiate about the protocol at a lower datarate and then switch over to 480Mbps. For a good coverage about that topic see http://www.lvr.com/usb.htmGerrit Quote
Gerrit Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Hello friends, something new with the group-buy?As we have currently 132 boards on the list, that should be enough to go on with the procedure?I'm very keen to get this 5x5 interface running.... Quote
nILS Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Yes, there's good news - the target is reached, the bulk order will happen. At the moment, the prototype boards are being made and will be thouroughly tested. After that, there'll be a "real" sign-up list on the WIKI - stay tuned! ;D Quote
strophlex Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 Here is a picture of my recently finnished 5x5 stripbord based interface. After some stupid mistakes and miscalculations it now works perfectly. Looks pretty neat too except for the bulky screws on top.EDIT: Attached the picture Quote
