Futureman Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Well, there is a nice knobs thread, why not buttons?http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180317610221&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=008 Quote
protofuse Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 indeed, a "The Nice Buttons" thread would be a must too :)my contribution:the second is cheaper, but pretty, fmoIdon't know which one I'll choose Quote
stryd_one Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 If that one at the top is a real P3, they'r friggen expensive ($5 each).. If it's not, it'll probably a cheap knock-off, and best suited to low budget projects.Anyway it should be easy to decide - do you want to panel mount or PCB mount?I don't suppose you have links to them? :) Quote
Screaming_Rabbit Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 I don't suppose you have links to them? :)... click the pics ;) Quote
philetaylor Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 I got a bag full of the second one for one of my projects. Personally I quite like them and they don't rely on perfectly machined holes :)PhilEDIT: And it is available in Red or Green as well! Quote

I got the data on it and I see you can get the coloured ones with an LED in it for a pretty good price. Have you tried the illuminated ones? Got any pics of a lit up one? Quote
jooks Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 I will use these Omron B3W with green leds for my mono 6581 sid. Comes in many other colours aswell. Price is not their strong point though... Quote
dstamand Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 I will use these Omron B3W ...I used The Omron R+G last year for my pcb test montage. They are very smooth and nicely built.http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3217/2761673706_a7a2129060_b.jpg Quote

bilderbuchi Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 would maybe be nice for a monome-style BLM, although not soft silicone. how much do they cost? :( Quote
nebula Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 would maybe be nice for a monome-style BLM, although not soft silicone. how much do they cost? :(Go on any web site like Mouser, Farnell, Newark, or Digi-Key, and search for B3W-9000. Quote
bilderbuchi Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 sry4lazyness.... 3-5€ apiece, bleh... Quote
jooks Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 I bought them from elfa.se for 27 swedish kronor (approx. 2.90 euro). I love them but they cost as much as they look and feel great! Quote
rosch Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 Very nice buttons yeah definitely not off-topic here! Quote
klangkraft Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 Yes, those B3W-9000 are the best I've seen by far. Distinct but low noise, very shorttravel and great looks. There is also a duo color version available (red and green).I use them in my Seq and the buttons alone set me back about 250 Euros though :/ The only negative I have to say about them is the pin spacing. They are metric, but willwith some bending of the pins fit standard 0.100" veroboard. Quote
Gridracer Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 I think the search for the perfect button is like the search for the holy grail. If money doesn't matter at all:CONRAD part# 701880 (could not manage to get a working link at least her is a pic.):http://media.conrad.de/m/7000_7999/7000/7010/7018/701880_BB_00_FB.EPS.jpgBut 7,70€ is the best price I found for such an full metal eyecandy. But something stopped me from ordering 120 of those beauties for my SEQ ;)______Here a link to many, nice illuminated buttons on ten pages, can not say anything about it as I had bookmarked this link form a thread here in the forum some time ago:http://www.rjselectronics.com/cms/html/modules.php?set_albumName=album16&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php&page=1______Also an interesting thread about soft tact switches that is worth reading:http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,12283.15.htmlEDIT: chaned link, hope it works better Quote
wackazong Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 That link is too complicated to be true. Conrad does not seem to know the concept of permalinks (which probably says a lot about them :) Could you repost a working link? Thanks! Quote
Gridracer Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 I hope the new link(s) work better Quote
Futureman Posted March 27, 2009 Author Report Posted March 27, 2009 I'm pretty sure ebay's HKSS sells those buttons, but cheaper.. (Well I think they are exactly the same)Do have in mind, that those buttons were generally made for industrial / vandal proof installations, and have quiet a firm action to them.http://search.stores.ebay.com.au/PARTSPIPE_momentary_W0QQfciZQ2d1QQfclZ3QQfsnZPARTSPIPEQQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQsaselZ171050829QQsofpZ0RegardsMike Quote
stryd_one Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 Do have in mind, that those buttons were generally made for industrial / vandal proof installations, and have quiet a firm action to them. These aren't the buttons you are looking for. Move along. Quote
Soclt Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 I am thinking to order illuminated switches from NKK.Photo can be found here: http://rocky.digikey.com/weblib/NKK%20Switches/Web%20Photos/JB15LPF-JB,%20JB15LPF-JF.jpgSince I can't lasercut button cap, these buttons have removeable cap, so I think it is possible to place a transparent film under it with printed symbol. Not beautiful, but should be OK. Anyone tried these?Farnell offers them for about 2-3EU. Quote
stryd_one Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 I read this:I am thinking to order illuminated switches from NKK.And was about to post about how NKK are stupid overpriced.... Then I read this:Farnell offers them for about 2-3EU.And realised you've already noticed ;) Quote
Soclt Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 Any cheaper buttons? :) I am also thinking about Omron B3W-9000 (posted here before), for about 2USD. Any other alternatives? Quote
bilderbuchi Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 those? http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,12159.msg116159.html#msg116159 Quote
