Yeah, I did at one point switch back to the 16mm ALPS to be more vanilla but once I seen the price ($75 for 17) I went back to the 12mm ($37). Mouser may say free shipping but they mark it into the price.

Awesome. Thanks a lot pawage. Is there any reason you extended the panel outside the CS and ran extra straight from panel to bottom standoffs in the corners and edges? I'd like to shave that bit off and make the panel fit as tight to the CS as possble and just go "panel -> CS -> bottom" only.

Good feedback. Thanks folks. I'm not long enough in this game to understand how quickly items go out of date. I agree the wiki is the best place for this kind of thing though I've found it to be a bit disconnected and also contains out of date info. This will happen no matter where we put it. I'll keep the BOM in my build thread in Tips n Tricks and park the idea until I gain more community experience. The problem there though is I lose the viewpoint of a newcomer which I was trying to capitalise on while I'm still fresh. :)

Hi, As part of my build I now have a fairly solid BOM for a vanilla SEQv4. These are exported Mouser and Reichelt carts and a couple of extra items that need to be procured elsewhere. Being in Australia I've aimed at getting parts from global suppliers instead of region specific. As a newcomer to the community I've experienced the process of gathering up the information needed for a vanilla build from various posts and wiki pages etc. Most of which, while being very good contain now out of date information. I also believe that once a newcomer has scanned through the various wiki's they'll end up in this forum before anywhere else. I think there's value in maintaining a BOM post in this forum for a vanilla build to catch the eye of new people scanning through looking for how to build information. Thoughts?

@pawaga. How are you mounting the boards inside the case? The CS will be mounted to the top panel with 10mm standoffs I assume. What about the core and midi boards? Are they just mounted to the bottom panel with washers for a little space? Do you have straight through standoffs going from the CS PCB to the Core or midi boards? I assume there's some straight through standoffs from CS down to the bottom panel. What size are they?

Necro bumping because this seems to be the most suitable place. I got a reply from Julian at Sonic Potions. The encoder knob used in the LXR is this one. It's plastic but a kinda soft plastic. I actually thought it was rubber. Actually, I'm doomed again. The Bourns I was looking at was 12mm and they don't do a 16mm with knurled. The datawheel's I've found are clones of the CLiff knob made by RS Pro, so they are readily available and come in a 2 weights. Would be nice to find a standard was to use these as obtaining the Alps datawheel is a big problem with builds.

Is it possible to mix the Alps 12mm and an Bourns (no switch)? I've found a datawheel readily available but they only come with a nurled shaft so I've listed a Bourns for the datawheel encoder instead.

The Sonic-Potion's LXR uses these kind of the caps. We found that putting a small ball of blu-tack in the switch made for a good way to make them grip on and stop wobbling. Love how it gives it that Electron look.

Hi folks, A lot of documentations say the gap between panel and PCB should be 10mm. Can someone tell me why this is? Is 8mm doable? I'm looking at LED's and if I go rectangular would like them flush with my 3mm acrylic panel. I intend to get LED spacers to ensure they are all uniform.

Is it worth it? I bought mine from Pete at Midisizer. He always has stock of them. (MidiGAL is his variation with a selection of firmwares.)

The most standard laser cut template I believe is this one from smokestack. It has bugs though and hasn't been updated. I'll be making a new one with interlocking slots round the back and sides with the only front edges using the "teeth" method. It'll be optimised for size as much as possible without modifying the boards beyond vanilla.

Hi, I'm looking at push button switches for another project but I'm confused by the switch operation explanations. I'm looking for a toggle button, not momentary but I'm seeing definitions like "On off", On (On), On(off) On. On (On) On. Can someone tell me what this means? I'm guessing a toggle is On Off, but I see tons of On (Ons) which doesn't make much sense.
