LiFo did you mean making the backlight or the characters blink?

OK now that it's not like 1am, I'll go into more detail. :) MIOS is MIOS. You never changed MIOS. Leave MIOS alone. Your application is your application (Junkbox). I see no problem in making a splash screen for your application. That way you can have a MIOS splash and then a junkbox splash after that.... Hey, if there's enough space you could even do really interesting things like setting custom characters for the LCD so you could have junkbox logo in a semi-graphical form and then after it does the splashscreen, re-set the custom characters back to the normal ones... All kinds of things :) TK can decide whether he is OK with you changing the MIOS screen, and he can tell us whether he think it is legal/morally OK or not, but at the end of the day, if you change the MIOS screen, in my opinion you are taking credit for something you didn't do. I'll be more than happy to help you make a splash screen for junkbox, but not alter the MIOS one. Let me know if you're interested :)

All looks great man :) Answers in order: Yes No Yes Geez you made that easy heheheh Right you are :) At least, I hope so, or I ask too many questions! Yep, that means you've been bitten by the bug :D Hope you have fun man, welcome to the forum!

I don't think I should teach you how to change the copyright screen, that would be illegal. You can add another screen after that.

Is it a standard application? Which one?

Props to him. I think if we get this working we should put some kind of credit to him in the source code. Edit: No, really, that was so damn nice of him. I honestly thought that he would be the LAST person to help, seeing as he has a commercial device for the same purpose.. Shows what I know!! *slaps himself* Seems not everyone in business is a money hungry b*stard after all. What a legend. -
Man that's a tough one... It's far more likely to have been wiped than destroyed, but that all depends on what they did to it... You might have to try re-burning to find out :(

Why do you think they were under so much pressure? They made everyone else look bad!

Axis of evil LMAO don't get me started on US politics >:( .... Racist sons of.... Only reason they don't have civil wars like everywhere else is that they slaughtered and bred out their adversaries when they arrived. But no, there's no evil in New York or DC or Chicago or any other large US city, is there? Noooo! OK I'm going to shut up and get back on track now. But yeh, Nil illegitimi carborundum ;) Yeh well the bags that go into the cargo bays get scanned WAY worse than the hand luggage. Not just XRays but all kinds of nasties... And this was before 9/11, so I hate to think what they do now. If you register it as static and EM sensitive baggage then they will check it by hand rather than putting it through a machine. The clothes and all may actually help with the damp and cold to a degree but those x-rays will mess with your kits like crazy and unless you have lead-lined suitcases you're screwed. If you tell them that it is computing equipment then they will have guidlines to follow which will ensure its safety. Often there is a small charge for this kind of thing, but it's well worth it. Of course, the easiest way is to get some insurance on the bags - usually only costs 20 bucks and it beats spending a few hundred on new chips :)

Well, you haven't got enough info yet. We now know that it puts out a voltage, but we don't know what voltage it is, and we don't know how it varies.... It might put out a range from -12V to -8V for all we know, and that's not useful for going direct to AIN. We also don't know what scale is used for the change, is it linear? logarithmic? etc etc etc... We need to ask way more questions :) -
Bugger, gone already! Thanks though Roger :)

NICE!!!!

Like the new gfx mate :)

Aircraft (in particular, the things that happen to the luggage before it gets on the aircraft, and the extreme cold and damp of high altitudes) and electronics do NOT mix!!!! If you want to do this in future, then arrive at the airport early. Most airlines offer a service where they will carry fragile/sensitive luggage separately, sometimes for a very small fee - but always worth it, for obvious reasons. Won't hurt to pack your gear in airtight anti-static bags and bubble-wrap either. If you can't get those, then just use normal antistatic packaging and put it in a ziplock bag. Hope this helps stryd_one - ex-pilot :)

Nice catch! I so didn't even notice heheh

Ahhh, bollocks! It takes a far greater man to admit to a mistake, than it does to avoid the mistake in the first place.

I should start this by saying that I'm 99% sure that this will work... But keep in mind that not all cables are the same, and cable sheilding will play a major role in whether this will work. As I said, I am fairly confident that it would be fine, but still, that is made under the assumption that there is a similarity between USB and MIDI cables, and assumptions are the mother of all f*ckups ;)

BZZZZZT wrong! Sorry you do NOT win the car! ;) From the page which links to that schematic: I think you confused this schematic with one of the other devices on his site :) Absolutely. Patience is the key. We'll ge the info we need... But I'm not so sure that the BC outputs standard CV by itself, or all that circuitry would be unnecessary Yeh, keep waiting until we hear from the yahoo group or yamaha or something. IN1 and IN2 are the audio inputs for this device. What the schematic shows is an interface for the BC* (which is the top part of schematic 1, everything between 'BC In' and 'CV1' and 'CV2') and that interface controls the amplitude of a stereo signal which is input through IN1 and IN2 and output via OUT1 and OUT2. Schematic 2 below it is the power supply. CV1 and CV2 are the Control Voltages from the BC interface part of the citrcuit, to the IC which does the audio parts. We can pretty much ignore all that. If you just use the top part of the schematic, that will output CV. U4 and U5 are some kind of op-amp, but I don't know much more than that.... Like I said, we need to do more study so that we can understand the schamatic. Hope that helps. -
The only thing worse, is when I see a new post in this thread and think "Yay! It's Smash, come to tell us the store is open again!" and then it's not him ;) hehehehe

Props to NAS for helping us making this thread so much more peaceful :) Isn't it pretty now? :)
