  1. These will probably be too high latency to use as a sampler :( Although these kind of voice recording devices (also available as just an IC) would be useful for doing soudbites on radio shows etc, where accuracy of timing is not so important. Thanks for the heads-up, and good luck experimenting with these!
  2. Twiddle away! :) Yeh good point about the encoding.. I'm pretty sure it's a standard character, but not all fonts are the same so....
  3. Freakin awesome. Awesome, awesome, awesome, and also, awesome. Did I mention how awesome that is? My Mum and Sister both play organ, they are going to love that. A w e s o m e .
  4. You could always program a realtime random modulation feature into the MBSID :)
  5. http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q=SN102+LCD&meta= LOTS of hits :) Good luck mate.
  6. Hey I just have to say... I agree with NorthernLight that the first post had an air of impatience about it. Of course we all understand now that you've got precious little time and you'd like to make the most of it, which is totally understandable.... but yeh... I very nearly posted saying the same thing myself, and didn't post cause I didn't want to start an argument. Maybe next time you're in a rush let us know why ;) It's not your fault, it's just that so many people become impatient and decide to annoy the forum looking for a quick-fix, and it might appear that you've become one of them.
  7. I notice the MIDIBox Logo is a bit mashed up this morning :( (and there are two of them now) I like the transparency though, I was going to suggest that :) Maybe the image should have white space where the words are though...Just transparent around the outside of the 'chip' Hey I was thinking, you know those tabs up the top, maybe instead of "UCAPPS", it could say "µCAPPS" or "µCApps"? But now I'm just being pedantic ;) It might look better in all-capitals anyway, as it will match the lettering on the other tabs. Anyway, for those who care and don't know, the µ character can be typed by holding in ALT and typing 0181 on your numeric keypad (it won't work with the other number keys), it's also known as 0xB5 if you're into Hex ;)
  8. I collected up a bunch of C64's and have had them sitting around waiting for me to save up for the boards (now they're just waiting on me to order from Smash ;) woohoo!) I'm beginning to wonder if I should be concerned about the state of the SID's in those... But if they're all OK, you can have some of the 6581's. Damn, I'm REALLY curious to find out if they're OK now!
  9. Ah it helps to be in the industry :) I was secretly hoping you'd tell me that it was some cool freeware or open source app, but no such luck... Guess not everywhere can be as cool as ucapps.de ;) That's a good name though mate, and a nice looking logo - I especially like the backwards 'e' that becomes an 'A', very clever. Nice font for the other letters too. Rock on :)
  10. Actually that sounds like a dodgy SID (assuming you've checked the PCB's etc), have you tried another one?
  11. Hi guys, I'm sure that while you are doing this stuff, you'll be far too busy for documentation, but I really hope that when you're done, you'll share some of this very specialised knowledge that you've gained, at the wiki :) Edit: Terrible typos.
  12. Curious... If you set it up for three pots (as per your last post) and then only connect pots 1 and 3, what does pot 3 do then? Still nothing? Don't forget to ground the unused pins....
  13. Nice :)
  14. :o Good thing you don't weight a bit more eh ;) I remember the days before PC's had ZIF CPU sockets, we used to see buggered pins up on so many x86/x87's... Funny, not once did any one of them ever fail to work once the pins were straightened.... Provided none of them snapped off of course :) Beef stew, however, is absolutely guaranteed to bugger the chip up permanently. The only things that work better are Coca-Cola, or a solid EMP. So, I would like to issue the following warning to all MIDIBoxers: [glow=red,2,300]Do not eat stews or curries while drinking coca cola and playing with your thermonuclear weapons, while handling your core modules.[/glow] ..oh, and keep a piece of antistatic foam around to sit your chips in ;D
  15. Nice, I dig that logo! :) Just out of curiosity, why "Enabler?" And one other thing... What software are you using for those front panel designs? I've been trying to find a good 'sketchpad' for front panels, and that schaeffer app is a bit too complex for just a sketch...
  16. Brilliant! I have like 5 of these drives sitting around collecting dust... Thanks guys! Could you update the wiki with your findings? I'f you're not sure what to do, just PM me and I'll take care of it for you :)
  17. Heya Buns', any news on this?
  18. The way I see it, if some mystery thing is oozing mystery juice that may or may not be poison, I'd be inclined to ensure it's safe by throwing that dodgy thing away and using a new one :)
  19. Heheheh well, if your logic were flawed, I'd have no clue, but I don't think you're paranoid... The juice at my place tends to run pretty high, like 250v all the time, and even though everything runs off UPS, I still like to know that I can cut it out and not have all my power supplies simultaneously explode ;)
  20. Thanks Therezin... I wouldn't hold your breath though ;) Some of the people will remember me thinking that monster up in mid '03. Admittedly I've had a few major hurdles to jump but still, I sadly have to admit that I expect it to be some time before it's complete. Don't doubt it though, it will be made one day :) It's at a stage at the moment where the code has been written in VB (windows apps) for many of the separateparts, but it'll have to be ported to ASM and then lots of debugging once I strap it all together... Meanwhile, I've put up a chart for the FM chips, I'll update that from info I can find on these forums, but if anyone feels like pitching in, feel free :) http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=soundcards_with_ymf262_and_or_yac512_chips And in my blog, under Preparation, I've put up the code for a vbscript MSWord to DokuWiki Converter http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=stryd_one_word2doku Enjoy!
  21. I think you've gotta draw polygons for the fills... Could be wrong about that, I suck at this stuff ;)
  22. To quote myself: "oooooooooooooooooh! New forums! :) "
  23. Nor would I :) It's almost entirely cosmetic really, certainly not worth redesigning. If it were a simple re-route, maybe, but otherwise, nah..
  24. You can reduce the bit depth by just shifting the byte, you just lose the unneeded bits.
  25. Ah, excellent, thanks TK. I just noticed the potential for conflicting links... I found a MS Word - Doku converter which seems to be for a different syntax, so I am modifying it and will put it on the wiki when it's tested. FYI it came from here http://infpro.com/downloads/downloads/wordmedia.htm and here http://www.wakatara.com/blog/archives/2005/01/17/on-collaborative-simplicity-and-the-word2dokuwiki-macro/ There's also one for OpenOffice which I havent't tested yet, if anyone's interested: http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/hillview/OOo/
