  1. Obscure parts from obscure sources and "I won't fix this because it probably doesn't matter" are really not a good starting point for pretty much anything. I'd also strongly advise sticking to well-known/common parts and dealers as well as fixing every single issue before even considering selling any part of it to anyone or even making the schematic/layout public.
  2. We're taking a little break at the moment, but once the list is long enough, there'll most likely be another run, yes. (And by "we", I mean Wilba) :flowers:
  3. You can haz sammich.
  4. You might want to check the soldering before getting a new one.
  5. If you're already thinking that your soldering isn't quite up to par, then that's probably the issue ;-) Can you post some non-blurry, decent sized pictures of both sides of the PCB please? That might help us figure out what's wrong.
  6. Hold on - I was under the assumption you were trying to build v2 (for a PIC18F4685 core). So you shouldn't be looking for a "...v3" folder. After running "make" there should be a bunch of .hex files in that very folder. Do you see those?
  7. Yes, the revision has advanced a bit. Using the current download from ucapps.de (http://ucapps.de/mios/midibox_sid_v2_043.zip) the folder with the sources will be called "midibox_sid_v2_043".
  8. You need to be in the app directory to make.
  9. Spaces in paths ("Jake Harper") are often an issue. Try to move the stuff down a few levels. c:\mios\ or something like that. All the stuff that happens in Windows is case-insensitive. So MSYS is the same as msys. Everything inside MSYS is a different story.
  10. And you are very welcome :flowers: nILS
  11. The OLEDs typically just need a different initialization - pretty sure this topic has come up here before - the forum search might yield some results. The digikey link doesn't work for me, it's probably only valid with your session.I had a quick look at the datasheet and it looks good.
  12. Hehe, no worries, I appreciate the gesture of you going through the trouble with the german translation  I had the PIC laying around unused anyways and I prefer parts to actually be used - don't worry about the money. nILS
  13. Very nice. Big fan of the harmonies :-)
  14. "The files" refers to the firmware, presumably the mios_base package, which can be found at the very bottom of the MIOS 8 Download page on ucapps.de
  15. I actually do that. I have a POS keyboard with loads of big, colored, custom labeled buttons to control my DAW. If you ripped out the internals and replaced them with a core module and some DINs/DOUTs you could turn it into a nice MIDI controller. A lot of the POS keyboards come with cherry switches that would allow you to add LEDs as well. So yeh, it's doable, but you'll end up with only buttons. And having some faders/pots/encoders is a really handy thing to have :-)

  17. Thanks!

  19. Ah good, so it isn't just me
  20. What list? Could you please post a link to the list you're trying to get on?
  21. What list? Just curious, cause some of the list that you could have signed up to are old and outdated since a lot of the parts are readily available in Smash's shop by now.
  22. Welcome aboard, Ryan! :flowers: What list exactly did you put your name on? Regarding the SIDs - the sammich is obviously the easiest to build (that was the whole point of it) and comes in full-kit form, so it's also the easiest to acquire. The mb6582 is a more complex beast, but you can still get the parts from SmashTV. The most difficult and potentially most gratifying route is full on DIY from modules (which are available from SmashTV as well). It boils down to a matter of experience and taste really.
  23. Make sure you actually read the pricing model first: Obviously you can always go for the commercial license, which is still ridiculously cheap for what you get. Just saying - $20k is not quite "a few times the cost of the program". :ike:
  24. Yeh. It can't be any good now that I see the pricetag. Screw Reaper, try Protools (with an ICON console obiously).
  25. Reaper.
