This modification was introduced in MIOS release 1.7.. and the link Smash posted is also featured in MIOS -> Download page, in description section for the MIOS 1.7. Also current core schematics ect. represent this change. Bye, Moebius

Hi, Just use setup_mbseq_v2.syx. That should do it. Bye, Moebius
-
Hi, ULN2003/ULN2803 maybe? See MIDIO128 page from ucapps.de for an example circuit and download datasheets to see, if current ratings of the chips are high enough. Bye, Moebius

Didn't they offer an automation drop-in for Mackie 8Bus - just a box, with a midi and TSR plugs - Â 32 VCAs?!? I don't say - but the day you can show 72 ssl motorfaders.. that was P&G's? ..TK will put some more efford to adapt those to MB_MF environment.. Haven't he already? I think I just saw that someone had trouble with those. It's quite unlikely, that those wouldn't work. Don't trust me one this or ever, Moebius ;)

Hey! --"..Lets try it together.."--
-
OK - These are "Standard" Does really NOT. But these have wires coming out from there, so these are backlight ones ;) Bye, Moebius

compatibility?

Hey, Nice to see "New People" around here.. So, You've seen uCapps.de site and You're missing a partlist? Bye, Moebius
-
Err.. If You didn't have some cheap motorfaders for me(!), AIN will work it, anyway.. ;), Moebius

...No. I meant midi i/o from the core will do. Bye, Moebius p.s. Where did you get that idea?

Hi, S2000 and S3000XL have same PCB, just stuffed differently to support different GUIs. There was something called "internal mounting kit" to put a HD inside, as there are no mounting brackets for HDs there. SCSI bus has (at least on S3000XL) 50pin internal connector) I've been thinking of putting a ZIP drive in the place of the disk drive - should be possible. Last time I opened mine, I tried what happens if disk drive is disconnected and Akai booted up ok, just flashed something about "disk drive not ready", before booting fully up ;) My external 1GB Harddrive is definitely faster than ZIPs - but SCSI ZIP still has ok transfer rates ;) (You can do direct to disk recording with it! :P) And Don't "FORMAT" your SCSI devices, just "Arrange" - I'm having problems with some ZIP disks and only recently found out, that you shouldn't never format them :/ For Everything SCSI and AKAI: http://akaiscsifaq.digidude.net/ Bye, Moebius p.s. Rowan - I'm VERY interested in upgrading my Akai - I'll get in touch when your holiday's over ;)

Merry Christmas everyone! And Happy and Inventive Midiboxin Year 2005, Moebius

I hope Akai will Bring You Joy! :D (It's a REAL sampler you know..) Damn, I wish I had all the bells and whistles you can get as an option. I'd love to have a look at the service manual, or the actual Flash card to see if it's "clonable".. Merry, Xmas - Moebius

If they say so ;) There's a nice calculator: http://www.desmith.com/NMdS/Electronics/TraceWidth.html and here's the other one, giving slightly different results ;) http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Lab/9643/TraceWidth.htm As you can see, there's no "big mystery" behind it. Smaller traces will carry same currents as larger ones, but as having bigger resistances, will also warm up more. There you can also calculate trace clearances for different voltages.. There are some interesting articles at the source: http://www.ultracad.com ...But to the original topic: Download pdf from here: http://alternatezone.com/electronics/pcbdesign.htm It's an excellent "paper" ;) There's also lot's of useful information scattered around http://www.epanorama.net Bye. Hi, First of all - have you noticed, that there's no space for PCB mount MIDI/audio connectors - You have tomount them "off board". ;) I don't have direct links for needed connectors, and don't like browsing Mouser site - but you could start searching for mouser #517-2301 -- not really what you need, but if you download their catalogue page (884.pdf, was it?) and start looking from there.. It's easy to download other catalog pages from pdfs bookmark section. Bye, Moebius

Hey - If you put it on a AUX send, you don't even have to reach for that! ;) Aww.. what was I thinking?! ;D Well, if you like the machine and think it worth keeping (for the chorus, that is ;)).. play with it and see which parameters are worth midiboxifying and then it's time to See its SysEx specification and do some Midibox meta event programming.. Bye, Moebius (p.s. How come So bloody useless pseudo-vocoder with anemic "Choirs" can have Such a wonderful Digital Chorus?? blaablaablaa.. hey, I'm an ex-owner - I think splitting up was a good thing to both of us. Well.. these days If I could get one cheaply I'd would get it for its...;))
-
Wow! That's plain incredible! I don't even want to think how long making all those buttons and knobs took.. BYe, Moebius
-
Err.. Hey, have you PLUGGED it in already? I remember it having only one useful control and that was "Chorus on/off" :D BYe, Moebius

Way to go Thorsten - Sharing the Fun ;D Smash, yes - I guess that KoalaPads worked just like that (and drove the paddle pins of a SID :P) Modern equivalents seem to use "matrix scanning" and capacitive properties of a pointing object to determinate position.. http://www.synaptics.com/technology/cps.cfm Bye, Moebius

THIS particular unit is Apple SURPLUS from year 1993, when they were still using their ingenious ADB for connecting input (ect.) devices - Powered from the bus, cascaded.. Hey, THAT sound familiar ;) But this seems like integrated device from some old Powerbook. No data on protocol or interface.. not worth trouble. Yeah, yeah.. go bug Duggle.. or then again, don't ;) THERE: http://www.midibox.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=concepts;action=display;num=1067480170 From there you can read, that Duggle has made progress with PS2 to midi conversion, but haven't posted any updates for a while, so I guess he's been busy as he said. This has an advantage of supporting any PS2 devices, there's no trouble interfacing or decoding data from the device.. (maybe only what you want to DO with that data) I don't know if Thorsten has got in to it: http://www.midibox.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=concepts;action=display;num=1084655389 Yup - and those PS2 surplus touchpads are available from http://www.voti.nl for under 5 euros.. Pheww..Moebius p.s. I guess NOW I can post reply to Smash's excellent rant ;)

Well, I'm not experienced PCB designer - but even they saying "These tips are not specific to using our CAD software, but instead.." it seems to me, that those instructions are very much made for doing layouts: A. Without prior netlist (ExpressSCH was introduced in -02) B. For doing Double-sided boards.. Let's say, that Double-sided boards are "forgiving" for stupid component placements you end up with if you can't see "rastnet" while doing it ;) Just place via here and there :P It's a different thing altogether doing a single-sided board and having a continuous fight agains "jumper wires" or whatever.. As I can always SEE, what signals or nets are not yet routed I can and DO optimize component placement - and yes, it doesn't stop even with fully routed board ;) Bye, Moebius
-
Hi, It depends on how much control you want. S3000XL has pretty nice internal modulation routing possibilities. For midi modulation, there's only one "Globally" set midi CC (and only few choices for that: CC2, CC4 or CC7) to be used "freely"... But - if you don't use "channel aftertouch" for anything, this controller is also free to be used.. Just look at the manual :D But if this isn't enough - It's time to do some coding.. As far as I remember ANYTHING on S3000XL can be controlled using SysEx (Yup, you can order Akai to load a program off harddisk, if you just know the right SySex ;)).. And MB's "meta events" can be used to do that. SysEx specification can be found from: http://www.akaipro.com/int/download/sysex.html Bye, Moebius

With "Common sense" I'd have thought that when motorized joysticks become available, it's just natural progression to use them in surround panning, instead of normal joysticks, but noo.. It's an innovation! And maybe someone has patented "a method to check if hyperlink points to the correct document", and Harrison hasn't got a licence, as link in their page points to some M$ patent ;D (Or is this some Opera issue?) Bye, Moebius

Err.. Do you have revisited AOUT schematic? Current version doesn't buffer gate at all, but instead gate LED should work as intended ;) GATE inputs (in synths) should react to voltage level, and not sink too much current.. And this is the case in designs I have seen.. and also other DIY midi-cv converters usually drive gate voltages directly from uC pins. At least PIC has protection diodes in those port pins connected to J5.. but if you're up to build some "frankenstein" patches with a modular synth - it could be ok to buffer outputs. Couple of PNP transistors and few resistors should work.. (See input buffer of http://www.ele4music.com/pdfs/deg2a.pdf for reference) Bye, Moebius
