I think I saw the same thing, like 2 days ago.. I hope we don't have to get used to it. Bye, Moebius
-
Yes, I've heard that in various forms of expression. What was you question, really? Lookin' for answer? Bye, Moebius p.s. Not saying that it's in the top of the messages in this page - sorry, stick around ;)
-
So this is a curve tracer or something? Bye, Moebius
-
I think saw something, that was resembling a cow flyin' :D Was it like a 3rd unknow bug around MIOS / ported APPS.. Now TK, Would you mind being nominated for a SynthDIY Soddy? And to not break the rules, what would you consider as your favourite MB release for the Year 2004? Bye, Moebius

..Yup - it think that migration reset'd the "personal settings".. nothing really, that can't be fixed easily :D But as TK's on charge.. It's only matter of the days, 'till it's ok! Bye, Moebius
-
Yes - looking good so far ;) And migration was incredibly fast one.. It could be, that I haven't got used to this "new looks", but some fonts in this new board look just a bit too little for my eyes.. Comments? Bye, Moebius
-
And that's about as good as it gets, I suppose ;=) Bye, Moebius

NOO! He haven't told us, how long the down-times was, for HIS customers.. Bye, Moebius

Yeah right. 470uF elco sounds like a power supply bypass.. Those elcos drift, allright. But when they are no use?! Elcos don't like to be left alone - use 'em! (power thee thin' havin' those) Elcos don't like over voltage, never ever, ever.. or they short. -- Most of "thee elcos" are put in the places, that can work out: with something like: a little or even half of the original value, Â drift ;) --- Really, Moebius

This is bad news - midibox.org is hosted by evanzo, right? And it's about 95% forum, with just few downloads and the frontpage.. From my north european view - midibox.org has been pretty reliable.. some troubles here and there, but no real downtimes, that I had noticed, albeit being a bit slowish. (How does it feel there, over the pacific, guys?) It's pretty surprising to see MIDIbox Forum, while being active, not BUSY, to generate enough load(?) on server to cause troubles. I'm averaging around 20 users online on peak-hours.. But you can analyse logs, Thorsten ;D Yes, there are plenty of choices and the most companies are in the U.S.A. But then, most of those "really affordable" hosting companies seem to create mixed comments.. ("Not reliable", "Website disappeared", "Don't give a BEEP after paying for a long hosting deal", "Works great for me") Just a couple of picks influenced mainly by http://news.netcraft.com - and that seem to fit: http://www.1and1.com - 1&1 Business, 2Gig space, 50Gig transfer, MySQL, php ect. = $9,9/Mo. http://www.godaddy.com - Hosting Economy Plan, 500Meg space, 25Gig transfer, MySQL, php = $3.95/mo. (Deluxe Plan, 2Gig space, 100Gig transfer, 10 MySQL DBs,PHP + adding perl/CGI support = $9.95/Mo.) Everyone - feel free to disagree! Moebius

Hi, Yup, that's an encoder.. ...And these were soldered from the pcb that has silk screening marked with "D201" ect. ;) Those are probably diodes in SOT-23 packages. Try measuring resistance? ;) Encoders are just electromechanical switches with common input to which 2 outputs are "shorted".. Voltages involved has to be brought in from the outside.. Bye, Moebius
-
Hi, In the page 3 of the datasheet, you'll find a "truth table" for the "Shuffle Part". I decrypted "A type" as: Pin C.1 (or terminal, as they call it) is Common (the one that gets "shorted" to other pins). Pin1 is used for direction information. Pins 2,3,4 form a 3bit (8 step) code that represents the rotation angle. I hope that helps you to see and test it by yourself?! :D Now, some Midibox app. modification is needed, if you want to decode these Shuttle speed settings - and if tractor supports 'em. - Can't help you with that, I'm afraid. Bye, Moebius Â

BIG Thumbs UP for Tim (SmashTV) and Marcel (illogik)! ;D The wait was rewarded as today I got to pick-up nicely packed goods from the Post Office. So - Thanks illogik, for arranging this thing and using his "PayPal Powers" ;) and thanks Smash, for being the U.S. contact.. especially for picking up unrelated PAiA stuff for me! And respect to both for trust and credit in payment. From my view everything went smoothly, Moebius/ Samppa p.s. Note on Fatman pcbs.. hmm over 40(!) wirelinks there - some things are better done "double sided" ;D

This isn't true for any channel pressure/aftertouch sensitive keyboard - and certainly not for pads. I don't know about sensors used in the keyboards or the pads, thought. MPC's have velocity AND pressure sensitive pads, so it would be nice to know how they work-- Bye, Moebius p.s. Akai has released MPD 16 - a standalone 4x4 usb/midi drum pad controller, that's pretty cheap.. Don't know if it has pressure sensitivity.
-
These are from Smash - I'm sure somebody has already got 'em to work! Please post your findings here (enc_mode ect.), so this thing can be FAQ'd.. :D On the other hand - Should there be a sticky topic in Parts archive section of the forum, for describing different pinouts/ encoder modes for different encoders? Contributions? Bye, Moebius

[sarcasm detector on - sarcasm as a shield on] Err.. Well.. What do you think? Why is that lip there anyway? Because you can plug chips there either way, the lip is there to remind you which was the correct direction. So, you can desolder and turn socket around If you're absolutely sure that you can't remember which way the chip was supposed to face.. pheww.. Moebius [/override previous modes]

I got that message too (on the first attempt to DL vMIDIbox64E) - but the trick is trying again ;) It worked instantly in the second try, just a few seconds later. So, just click again.. if you didn't get the version you needed ;) Must have something to do with the server resource handling..? TK? Bye, Moebius

It depends.. on many factors. d2k used pcb mount leds on his 2 MB_LCs: http://www.midibox.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=gallery;action=display;num=1084140820 but also had a professionally made boards and frontpanels. Now - because the led rings are not only "a series of LEDS", but matrixed - you'll need a doublesided board, or you'll end up having lots of jumpers - and having lots of jumper wires, in my mind, really defeats the advantages of having a pcb done. What kind of a frontpanel you're going to have? LEDs clearly sticking out of it, or visible from the holes of the frontpanel? I mean - You would have to align and solder a number of leds.. to certain height, aligned precisely. And the fun doesn't stop here - then comes the hard part: attaching and fitting the board to the frontpanel...!!! Bye, Moebius
-
Order the next batch from SmashTV, those boards have a proper soldermask ;D Nah, Kidding aside.. I really don't know a way to prevent this happening - But with that SK 10 (Shouldn't flux do the same?) solder flowed so nicely, that it was real easy to apply just the right amount. (And you surey know that you should heat the joint (not the solder) and apply solder there? sorry..) Bye, Moebius

Hi, I think what I've seen, has been done by putting a bare wire against the prefboard and then applying solder to build the "Tracks". Looked a bit messy, but I think it worked ok. At least it looked better, than a big mess of point-to-point wires. Bye, Moebius

There are some stuff available, (to make) tinning solution - but it's pretty expensive (but re-usable). It protects copper from oxidating and makes it easier to solder. I've used that SK 10 stuff before, and was mistaken to think it's a Flux (the Can said FLUX SK 10, I'm not sure if PRF 202 or Cramolin Solderlac125 are basicly the same stuff - the thing is, that flux/flux residues are bad (conductive), but these are said to be protective laquers, with ability to ease the soldering) I can fully recommend SK 10 (The TV Shop voice ;)). It makes solder to flow real easy - forming beautiful shiny solder joints. But as Doc said - nothing prevents you from soldering PCBs with only minimal preparation of wiping it clean of the finger prints ect. (Asetone will do also) Bye, Moebius
-
You sure it works THAT way? ;D But hey - PAiA Theremax has CV outs and it's available as a kit, bare PCB and the schematics are online. http://www.paia.com/theremax.htm Bye, Moebius

Hmm.. It's a redirect to http://www.midibox.org/mios_tools/ Browsers should support it and if it's disabled at least give a link to the correct document.. User manual links for vMIDIbox64 & vMIDIbox64E give a 404 - but I guess this is just because documentation isn't ready yet. ;) aleintrance - If you can't get link to work, just PM me with your email address, and I'll mail you what you want. Bye, Moebius
