  1. Would you mind pm'ing me that mouser list? Its still not on the wiki. thanks tb
  2. updated my order request on the wiki page for the new details, if they are new. sorry i've been out of touch !! :D
  3. first, i'm really psyched about the MB6582 stuff being ready. YAY! hooray for Smash and Wilba. I guess this goes to Smash, I just tried to order the 2 boards plus the new pics on the order page, but when I tried my two visa debit cards (that i've used for other stuff online) it says I cannot place the order with that card. Is it because I want it shipped to Germany even though my billing address is in the US? [edit Sept 1st] tried again, both with my US address and my German one (for delivery destination and billing address), on both cards. It says I'm unable to use the card. I even tried with an old card that I know is cancelled and it said a different message, "This card has been denied." So its not a problem with my actual card. Is it perhaps because I have check/debit cards instead of credit? Its not making sense. Please if anyone has an answer let me know. thx
  4. thanks nILS Podewski, I always forget i can do the fancy html in here.
  5. Hi All. I don't post much anymore but I've been revisiting the site more often lately to keep up to date on mb6582 biz. More than a year ago I made a short digital film for entry in the SXSW Grindhouse Trailer competition. Unfortunately I ended up finishing it just after the time when I should have mailed it; I lived in Italy and sent the DVD image file to a friend in LA that then express mailed it to Austin Texas, where it arrived the day after the deadline. >:( Anyway I realized I forgot to post the thing here! About the only audience that might appreciate the thing for its sid-worthiness and I never even mentioned it here. Enjoy, there are two versions, english and italian. The music is partially done with my mbsid, should be pretty obvious. The actual box itself is featured in a very short shot, so look out for blinking green LEDs.
  6. right but those kinds of controllers are all kinds of different sizes, and if this is a specific design with a CS pcb made for it, seems like we would need one or just a few options of sources to get the keyboard part... I would love to take the keys from my DX7, the thing is a breeze to disassemble and put back together again, but that keyboard is huge, thick, and really heavy.
  7. this may have been rehashed a bunch in the chats, but I am clueless on this: what would it take (i mean what parts, modifications, etc) to add the keyboard to the design? Are there sellers that sell just the keys ready for midi projects or are we talking about cannabalizing some (hopefully velocity-sensitive) existing keyboard/midi controller?
  8. As far as i know, and my own whack experiences (120v, 240v, 9v; ranging 2-45 ampere) it is the ampere that would kill you. Certainly the 240v with 45 ampere into my arm from a dangling live wire while drilling into a wall smarted the most, but it wasnt the voltage, as i've stepped on live 120v lines with 10amps with barefeet and it did nothing in comparison to that other jolt.
  9. am i to officially declare my desire for a baseboard part kit here? i dont want to be pushy, nor be redundant, but I also dont want to wait an extra few months longer (than newer midiboxers (or midiboxers-to-be that haven't slaved to make a midibox sid v1)) just to get Wilba's masterpiece plus the required component parts.. Whichever is easier for Smashtv, if there are extra part kits now I would get it right now, and wait for the PCB... I just didnt see anything like this in the AVITECH store or in any other threads... So is posting here some required ritual to reserve a spot to get parts? hope not but this thread seems to be going that way. [edit 12.1.08] ok so somehow i missed the wording in the first post explaining exactly that this thread is specifically for this. Sorry Wilba and particularly SmashTV, I i guess I can no longer pride myself on never having been told "Look at this thread." damn ;) It just seemed weird to state desire in a thread and the online shop exists, but i guess because of the high demand and/or long queue... I just wanted to avoid posting redundant stuff... I would like to be put down for one full MB-6582 (8xsid) parts kit including the 4 formatted pics (this time I'm not going to do it myself!)
  10. i wondered what happenned to you! I had to take a 6 month break myself, and started up again last week, and now I'm RAELLY close to finishing the whole lot. Post your front panel design, i'm sure more than just I am curious.
  11. thank wilba, tried searching for it in the forums but didnt think of trying "6582!"
  12. uh this is getting rather esoteric, and psosibly off the original topic, and possibly preaching to the converted, but I got 9 SIDs from C64s and only one of them was busted, and i didnt need to 'trash' any of the others to get the sid out, but shit, u know that. i'm just bored.
  13. this is really interesting to me as well. I dont have any of my own designs right now but I would love to start contributing to the brainstorm.
  14. whoa ok I missed out on this. Are those PCBs still available? I've got 4 spare SIDs ready to do their work.
  15. what? ??? are u st0ned? i have the flu.
  16. TK, are you able to fit those 4 extra SID modules into your existing classic C64 box? I'm struggling to get my similar config to close without smashing stuff inside with only the original 4 SID modules. thinking about putting some sort of thick gasket in between my top and bottom to allow more space.
  17. I 3rd the kudos. My newbie solders a year ago were shit compared to this, although by the time I got to my DINs and DOUTs the solders were looking a little better ;) You're in Greece, I'm in Italy, and I have 6 extra C64 PSUs. I hope you find one your ways, I would offer to ship one for cost but the problem is that 'cost' for shipping from Italy is rather outrageous-- you're better off finding one there.
  18. Thanks a lot TK, a whole lot. I'll explain everything for the benefit of any future OSX and/or MBSID person that has similar problems. I had tried the srio_interconnection_test_v1 test before, or rather attempted to try it, the other day but was frustrated with it not responding to my dx7's modulation wheel, and was unable to figure out how to change the code to accept input from another CC#. This, of course, is my problem; but I wieghed the options and decided that my chosen path was less time-consuming. [perhaps it wasnt >:( ] So, I thought I should be able to find the problem myself by painstakingly testing the continuity of every wire from DOUT to LED and DIN to button/encoder, and by going over the DOUT and DIN pcbs and doing the same to make sure circuits were isolated. However tonight I discovered many things: now that I can run MIOS Studio on my computer (after a 3 day hiatus to do the OS upgrade) I discovered that my DX7's modulation wheel jumps from 0 to 6 instead of passing through 1 and 2, which are needed for the srio_... test. Then I discovered that the virtual keyboard within MIOS Studio jumps from 0 to 5! So my solution (and maybe there is a better way but this is what I thought of) was to run Midipipe, an OSX app, and patch it like this: MIOS Studio -> Midipipe Input1 -> Control Split [set modulation wheel to _Scale_ all input to values 0-3] -> Firewire Midi Out [my midi interface to the mbsid]. Then I used the MIOS Studio virtual keyboard to send the modwheel signals correctly, and was able to eventually discover that that was indeed a short on the PCB of the DIN, and that this short only occurred when the DIN boards were set in place underneath my control surface. Why only then? well after a lot of poking, it was no less than 3 of the uF caps that were intermittently touching parts of the backs of DIN PCBs, but would 'spring' back up to not touching (and thus not causing an observable short) when I would scrutinize the PCB in my hands with a magnifying glass. My temporary solution is gaffer tape an a hand adjustment of the offending caps. Soon I'm going to make the support for all of my DIN/DOUT boards better, which is a shame because I can barely fit everying into my C16 shell as it is. ??? I would like to confirm one thing however, even though my system seems to be working fine now: The "D0" of Core J8 and DOUT J1 referred to in the main.asm of srio_interconnection_test_v1 was a little confusing to me, until I eliminated the possibilities and realized it referred to the "SO" on the J8 and J1 in the pdf documentation I've downloaded. IS this correct? thanks again
  19. ok I have no idea how I posted in that thread! I meant this one. yikes.
  20. man that is awesome. I took a break from my midiboxing and this forum for 7 months, and now I see I just missed out, your list is FULL! Listening to your knob twiddling mp3 right now. great work.
  21. TK, the CS behaves the same whether a bankstick is plugged in or not. Right now I have the bankstick unplugged as I try to do all my debugging, but even in those 3 hours when everything was working, was getting it to work fine with or without the bankstick. the only difference is I get the startup "ping ping ping" when the banksticks are plugged, and now that the CS isnt responding, when I use a midi signal to change the patch, then turn off, then unplug the bankstick, turn back on, then turn off, and plug the bankstick again, the patch is still at what I last set it. I am using 3 of the 512kb banksticks, arranged on a vector board in accord with the instructions on the bankstick page, so that the addresses are A=0, 1, and 2.
  23. dayam. ok i've finished my two day journey into installing osx tiger (i only did it so i can run mios studio!) and now that i have my 'puter up and running again, i'll give that a shot Doc. Also I'm going to try sending specific sysex messages with mios studio to see if this changes which LEDS are lit up.
