As I told Mike, (not sure have he get that mail) the footprint for the tempo encoder is standard. All those encoders with smaller spacing would fit. I tested 3 I had... Alps, Bourns and some Chinese noname and all fits perfectly. We just need 20mm shaft. I`m good with fine metal works so I allow myself to say it would be not an easy task to make even flat surface on 6mm cylinder. But, main argument is that we don`t really need to do it. Alps has EC11B series with 20mm shaft that is perfect and needs no modification. And Bourns is probably cheaper with their encoder that looks exactly like Alps but has gray shaft color. Here is the pix of mentioned 3 types that fit.

I`m little confused... If I converted dimensions right, inner diameter is 10.16mm. That means the knob on the picture is not more than 8mm in diameter. Also I guess it cannot be used with regular sized Alps/Voti/Sound Well encoders. Right? How long shaft needs to be to have both encoder and LED ring soldered on same PCB?

I say same thing to myself, but how can you not buy PCB when offered. I have same problem starting new project before finishing last ones, but It don`t make sense do nothing while waiting for some parts for first or second project. There is always something to wait. And If I receive the PCB, I just have to solder it. That is at least some progression. I live in a dream that I`ll go into final phase with all my projects and they all become finished in same time. Here is the CD shelf That keeps x0x and mb808 till waiting for some parts. Other projects are all over the house. :) And, this is where I solder bigger PCBs

I received the samples of NKK switches from Prof, but too late as I needed to cut the panels and sub-panels last week. I designed the sub-panel according to NKK datasheet, but I used the drawing that has no bracket and switches from Prof has it. So, bracket should be removed from the switch before installing to fit sub-panel. The switch is still strong enough as it secured on top by panel.
