  1. I have finished the BPM section. Rest of LEDs wan`t be soldered before I make subpanel. I hooked it to Reason and mess around with ReDrum. I really like this sequencer! :)
  2. Stryd, just because I said how it reacted with skin on my hands doesn`t mean I washed these keys with naked hands while sniffing the fumes in small non-ventilated room. I am experimenter, but I`m certainly not stupid nor I`m acting like a tough guy. I have no problem wearing pink gloves, but If I`m using hands.
  3. Thanks titled. I figured out slippery hands can mean just one thing... my hands are dissolving. I washed it right away so it didn`t cose me any injury. Chemistry can be pretty dangerous if you don`t know what you are doing and what dangers are, but experimentation is in my blood and I do take some risks from time to time. Just think... Albert Hofman didn`t discovered LSD just by watching the lysergic acid. He needed to lick it. And if he didn`t his bike ride would never be so fun. :P
  4. Would you say the same if you launch the nuclear missile? :P Thanks Adam and Rutger. ;) Good work guys.
  5. Yesterday weather let me to use my rooftop for some metal works. I shorten this key holder by 2 octaves. It was 5 before. I wouldn`t do it if gypsy player wasn`t hard core smoker (he burned few keys badly). This is the results of few minute work with grinder with sandpaper disk. Easy done, very satisfied. :) As this obviously isn`t stainless steel I sprayed it with car primer. I`t will be left as is. There will be no other paint layers on top. Good thing is that primer was fast drying as weather changed again... rain. :(
  6. Strange... did you connect everything right? Is that strange behavior happen whan you press same key configuration? Have you separated matrix right? 89 EUR is not so much mut for me it is too much. I payed this Juno 80EUR and relays would cost me about 40EUR which is more than half price of the CDB interface. A friend offered to make a parser for DCB... we`ll see will we succeed. It we fail, there are always simplest solution - relays. ;) I don`t agree... it is sad to see dust gathering Juno in bad shape. Seeing it ripped apart gives some hope it will sing again. :) You`re on a right place to see the results. ;)
  7. Thanks Michael. The PCB is double layer thus not suitable for self etching. If enough people are interested and if somebody living in normal country would like to run a batch... I`m here. ;) I can`t run another batch from Serbia... I had so much troubles with local customs about x0xb0x PCBs so I was forced to search for some alternative that turned into disaster.
  8. I`ve received CS PCB yesterday made in by small local manufacturer. It is my first PCB I designed in Eagle that is not DIY. Last one was drawn in Corel Draw. :P Because of that, I needed to drill all holes by hand. This one is also double layer but with through hole plating but without solder mask. It wasn`t really necessary as the PCB is tinned, but the main reason was that prototyping price ... It would be almost doubled. I can live with nice cheap DIY protection with Plastik spray. :) I added these resistors for LEDs in last minute as I wanted to make another PCB for stacking underneath containing the rest of electronics. It wan`t happen yet, but that is the plan. The sequencer wan`t be so standalone as I initially planed, I`ll make another one later. This one will be part of Project 9090 (TR-909 clone) by Trevor Page. This is the design. It suffers minor changes on a daily level but nothing radical. And this is the variant with display. Not sure do I wan`t it, but it might add some coollness. ;) And, this is one of three, very pretty PCBs of 9090. :) The project is almost complete. I`m missing some more parts but I`ll probably get it soon. Sorry if I went bit offtopic. I initially designed this CS for standalone sequencer, but my 9090 needs it now badly.
  9. No, you can use it... but, why waste energy... you can stick it directly into your eyes. :o Let`s save our planet. :P
  10. That is true. But regardless, white light emitted from LED is not same as white light emitted from neon tubes, not for the eyes and not for the camera. Bit offtopic... I find camera very useful for testing if IR LED is working. It helped me few times to troubleshoot those IR LEDs. :)
  11. Man, it is how human eye reacts on blue light. It is already much said about it on MB forum and a lot of other places. Sure, diffused blue LEDs are bit lighter on your eyes, but it is still blue, isn`t it? It is proven that blue light lowers some sleep hormone in your body so sleap disorders can be expected. Forget about blue if you want to use your gear comfortably. If you are making something commercially, and don`t care about your customers, it is highly advisable to have at least one blue LED. People are just crazy about blue light. ??? You get a friendly advise. Decide yourself. ;)
  12. Even I`ve always wanted to use white LEDs, now when I did it I can say using them isn`t best way to go. They looks great to me but they are in most cases blue LEDs with some kind of film to make it looks white. If you shoot it with camera it will disguise it and show they re actually blue. So, as blue LEDs are not pleasant to look at same goes to white LEDs. I`ve always wondered why the hell people chose water clear package if LEDs wan`t be used for illumination. ??? You can see it often in a kits like x0xb0x. Never use water clear LEDs for any midibox project unless you are making MIDI driven light show!
  13. As you know the size and number of all modules you are going to use I see no problem here. Problem can happen when you really want to fit everything in a very tight space of some box you already have and really, really want to reuse. When making something from scratch, you can design the box as you like. If you are not making rack unit, you can forget about any standard dimensions. As you are beginner, better make casing bit bigger. When you gain confidence you can work on the miniaturization. Regardless of some experience I gain over past time I always make 2D paper mock-ups. It really helps. You just cannot get real feeling of the controls just by looking at the design on screen. Print out your panel design and put on the table... you`ll easily spot if you make spacing between controls too small or if you could make it bit bigger. If you already bought the some knobs, you will have some fun.
  14. Even this is kind of separate project, I`ll be posting here about making the master keyboard as the keyboard was part of Juno once and I`m running both projects in parallel. This keyboard rig needs some hard core sanding and I`m awaiting some better weather so I can do it outside. It is pretty badly eaten by rust.
  15. When I started with MB project for a first time I really had troubles to get it going... (problem with JDM programmer supplied from PC unstable 5V) I was suspecting in everything, so I desperately trying to explain to the salesmen in various shops that there are paralel and serial cut crystal. I have to print out the datasheet so they believe me what I`m saying and stop saying I mixed something up. But, I have never bought any crystal that didn`t fit. So probably majority of crystals actually are parallel cut. So I think you should just buy one in chipoteka and don`t care about it. ;) Better use an email so you can attach some drawings That`s what I was expecting as you said plexiglas shop. There are meny of those but what you need is express stamp service or lighted sign company. They probably have lasers but will they cut it for you, not sure. I needed to cut back panel for x0xb0x few days ago urgently and went to another guy with laser near me and he just trow all the money out of my pockets. Disaster. And it was 1minute job... just 2mm thick acrylic. :o
  16. pointless? :D :D :D Cool! I don`t know about yours but my tempo knob isn`t pointless at all. I find it very useful. ;) I really like that P301 knob, it`s just the color that bothers me. Why don`t you try Albs knobs TK used for his sequencer or P401 that nebula organized for for MBSEQ? They are pointer-less and they are black. :)
  17. I like the both, distortion and overdrive. That is part of I/O mod? What have you tested from it by far and what do you think of it? I see some very small and nice looking power switch... do you have where it is from and do you have some bigger picture? What I don`t like is that Re`an knob. Being red in B/W world isn`t very nice.
  18. I don`t think it wort effort if you organize and pack those 595 and 165. They are really cheap and easy to find. Even worst electronic part shops has it. I think counting and packing will unnecessary delay building of this project.
  19. ...and you kept it for yourself only. you bastard. ;)
  20. I don`t know. I talked to their online support long time ago trying to find a wat to post something at normal price, but had no luck.
  21. Hey Arto, your demo sounds great weather is really Acid Tracks or not! Please post some more demos when you finish it. ;)
  22. That is potentially great news! :D I must check it again. Thanks for the info stryd. It happens to me million times that I can find what I need just at Mouser, or most of those strange parts.
  23. Good to see somebody is posting here, I thought everybody decided not to build their x0x-es. About a distortion... I think subatomic did it on his x0x. You can ask him, and here is his page: http://www.subatomicglue.com/x0xl0g/
