  1. bah... found em, not locally.. but they exist. http://www.maplin.co.uk/searchtemplate.asp?criteria=POWER%20CONNECTOR%20FIGURE%208
  2. Hey all, I'm trying to see if such a part exists.. I want a panel mount IEC C7 socket.. I know them as Figure 8 connectors. I was hoping for something local (Australia) but I'm prob gonna have to broaden my search. Actually, I'm now thinking that something like this would not be in panel mount? It for supplying power to a plastic enclosure / old keyboard. Kind regards.
  3. Your right, I should, and will post on the WTPA forum.. I was just having a very mild vent. Regards Mike
  4. I got mine yesterday, and built it in about half an hour.. pretty easy project. I must say, first impressions are not so great for me.. I don't mind it's sound, and using it as a looping pedal / over dub sort of thing is great. It's just all the cool stuff is done via midi, and using CC's to enable record and extra functions remotely is a bit of a pisser. (I don't use a computer, except to record audio) I like it's got two voices, and I like how filthy it can sound.. but it is crying out for a few things that would make it 1000x better. just my $0.02
  5. I've just got a new massive Allen & Heath desk with spades of channels.. And was thinking of running a multicore from my MB-6582 to the desk. I like the idea of individual eq & FX for the stereo SID pairs, and the ability to quicky mute SID's. I'm just wondering if 8 channels dedicated to SID's is over the top when most things get 1 or 2... I find myself often wanting to change the relative levels of the instruments.. how do other MB-6582 owners go about this? Or do you just 'live with it' ? Regards Mike
  6. Yea, I ordered one too.. Would be cool to play with.. Regards Mike
  7. Oh yea! The "2 finger spanning" method of note length would be a great feature.. Kind regards Mike
  8. Mostly good, except for where it's beaded up, like on the SID underside..hard to tell on the directly above pictures. It should be a nice curve leating up to the pins ( /|\ shaped ).. not like a blob sitting on it (Potatoe on a stick) Regards Mike
  9. It depends on how much current your tape echo pulls, but many "Jaycar" step downs are acutally not that big.. / expensive. Noise etc.. prob not.. maybe.. Just try it out.. I've got a SRE-555.. they rock... heavy f#@ker tho! It once fell on my foot, and broke a toe. Regards Mike
  10. ebay's your friend. http://cgi.ebay.com/8-Red-Push-Button-DPDT-OFF-ON-Momentary-Switch-RKD2_W0QQitemZ120331702470QQcmdZViewItemQQptZBI_Connectors_Switches_Wire?hash=item1c045410c6&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A4%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1205%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A200 http://cgi.ebay.com/50-Push-Button-Led-DPDT-OFF-ON-Momentary-Switch-GLKD3_W0QQitemZ290276695934QQcmdZViewItemQQptZBI_Connectors_Switches_Wire?hash=item4395d6df7e&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A4%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1205%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A200 There are heaps of variations on these, with LED's without etc.. they have a nice feel on them.. I'm using these (With LED's) in my next drum machine. Keep looking.. Try searching this forum.. ;] Regards Mike
  11. Often the power transformer has 2 (or more) primary windings, so you can wire them for 110v, or 220v etc... you might be in luck and not have to buy anything. Be careful with mains = Potential DEATH. Regards Mike
  12. I like both those ideas. The shuffle/groove doesn't sound right with direction parameter is doing funky things... - seconded. I've got a FR-Mobius.. FR's dedicated sequencer, and I like the way it implements note length... quick and easy. The MB-SEQ way is pretty good too, lets you make note length and you are not limited to 1/16th resolution.. (1/96th resolution!) but it is a bit quirky when you want to make a note much longer.. requires sometimes quite a bit of knob turning. All in all tho... the MB-SEQ rocks.. Regards Mike
  13. Like I said, you could buy two of these, and cut them in half.. one as 2x4, and the other a 3x4.. add them together = 5 x 4 As for examples of other buttons.. the forum "search" would help.. Google is good as well. Good luck. Regards Mike
  14. Finding good buttons seems to be the PITA part for many people around here.. You could try and fudge it with something like these http://cgi.ebay.com/Akai-MPC-Black-Pads-for-MPC-60-MPC-2000-MPC-3000-4000_W0QQitemZ400049383698QQcmdZViewItemQQptZKeyboards_MIDI?hash=item5d24cd2912&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1205%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50 But these are just the rubber pads (And only 4x4 but you could get busy with 2 of them and a knife) You would still need to install switches underneath.. and get a panel laser cut to fit the pads nicely = A LOT OF WORK AND $$$$$ If you are prepared to go for smaller switches (Say 18x18mm) that are not rubber, then your options open up drastically. Kind regards Mike
  15. Just out of interest, why would you press "Stop" on you MB-SEQ? I don't think I can think of one function that needs you to stop the sequencer to do anything. (Big PLUS in the world of hardware sequencers.. BIG PLUS!) Regards Mike
  16. Hey TK, I'll dig out a few other bit's of DIN Sync equipment and try them. (TR-606, TB-303, MC-202, TR-808) It's just my TR-707 was out, and I figured that as the TR-707 was made by Roland, it would be indicative of all Roland DIN Sync equipment.. I'll try and find the specs of the TR-707's DIN sync. A while ago, I did use the J5 gate outs to trigger my LinnDrum. I did this but putting in 16th triggers, And setting them all to roll (I can't remember what setting exactly) I then played with the clock divider until I got my 48ppq. This also worked fine for a while, Until I did anything serious on the MB-SEQ such as real time record, erase, randomise, scroll etc.. then it lost a fair bit of Sync.. Almost as if a few clock 'ticks' got forgotten about.. (Pretty much exactly the same issue happening when I use the DIN sync out of my MB-SEQ) I'll make up a Jack-DIN cable, and test the TR-707 using the J5 Gate outs to verify if a longer pulse length helps with the TR-707. Another thing I could try is to "record" the DIN Sync out of the MB-SEQ as audio, and then play with the MB-SEQ and see if it was dropping any clock 'ticks' ? (Or look at the signal on a scope, but this way we can exchange the info) As always, Kind regards Mike
  17. So I guess that I'm the only person using DIN sync with my sequencer who visits this forum? :P Any other solutions? Maybe I should build a dedicated clock box style bit of kit? Regards Mike
  18. But you can do exactly that with the J5 Gate outs, just set a pattern to 16th's, and change the clock divider. The gate out's rock.. I can't preach how good enough they are (incase you don't have a SEQ with em).. I've got a crap load of stuff that runs off triggers, and it's a godsend to have 8 of them at my disposal (Well, 16 if you count both sequencers. ;] ) Personally, I prefer the flexibility of generating my own trigger patterns than just 16th, 8ths or triplets etc... you can't spend your whole life writing 8th basslines.. lol. Regards Mike
  19. Ok, I just did another quick experiment. My TR-707, set to DIN Sync, lost sync while the sequencer was in record mode also. Even with the clock division set to 4 (so that my SEQ was sending out 24ppq) the 707 still lost sync while the SEQ was in record mode. I hope this helps. Regards Mike
  20. Big bump by me.. I f i n a l y got around to wiring up the last few things on my sequencer (The DIN Sync) [it is always the last 2% that takes up 99% of a project] I tested the DIN sync quickly on a drum machine, and that was all good. I made a lead that went from 5 pin DIN to 2x Jack plugs (For the Linndrum, one of which is the clock, the other stop/start) In the BPM screen, I changed the external clock divider from 4 (default) to 2 as the LinnDrum uses 48ppq. Tested, and was brilliant, the LinnDrum was bang on the money.. I was very happy.. Then while the LinnDrum was playing along, I went to the sequencers record mode, and quickly the LinnDrum started loosing sync. Am I expecting too much for the SEQ to spit out 48ppq reliably while the SEQ is in record mode? If so, please don't forget about this in V4. ;] Kind regards Mike - edit - Also happens when notes are being scrolled or moved or generated.
  21. Massive bump.. Could this be a job for midibox? I guess more info on the communication protocol would be in order eh? I'd be interested... maybe Sasha would too with his Juno 60 refurb. I've got a stupid amount of DCB connectors too, for anyone who is interested. Regards Mike
  22. Is the problem that you have your gate input on your mono/poly switched to S-Trig? I don't have mine with me, but from memory there is a switch to change the polarity from S-trig to V-trig.. but I think the arp clock is only S-Trig. If you are triggering it with V-triggers, the notes will be lazy and out of time. (S-trig is a short to ground trigger, while V-trig is a voltage trigger) Regards Mike
  23. I spoke to my mate (who I helped make his seq) and he doesn't like the inversion feature either... (Honest.. lol) My main gripe is that it doesn't seem to make sense to switch off all the active steps.. if I have a nicely crafted riff playing, why would I want to turn them all off and fill the blanks with C's ? I can see that there is a potential time for wanting to flood the whole pattern with the same note (as mentioned by Gridracer) Maybe this could be done while holding down "All" and pressing another button such as "Layer A" etc? Not sure.. for me, I just slide my finger along the step buttons.. only takes a second. Kind Regards Mike.
