Me and my bandmate are going through our songs and trying to reorganize tracks and patterns on each of our V4 sequencers, as we did things kinda willy-nilly while writing. I'm wondering if there is a way to load the session(s) we're reorganizing onto our laptops, reorganize them and then reload them onto the sequencers? If there isn't already a way, does anyone have any thoughts on the viability of this idea? thanks, grizz

I figured that replacing parts on the C64 power supply makes sense since everything I need is there... case, cords, etc. after replacing the caps and the blown fuse on the 9vac line it seems to work perfectly. I powered it under a load for about an hour, monitoring both the 5v and 9vac lines and all seems fine. I still have a noise problem that I thought ditching the cheap switching PSU i've been using would fix.

I decided to rebuild my C64 PSU instead of building a whole new PSU, and I have two questions that I am hoping someone will know the answer to. 1) Does anyone know a suitable transformer available through mouser or digikey that matches the ones in C64 brick PSU's? 2) Has anybody replaced the 3052P with a 7805? If so, other than the difference between pins, are there any other modifications that I need to make? Thanks, grizz

Question: Which hex file do I use if I am using the full control surface? I know it's not the SammichFM one... so that leaves V1 and TK... I'm asking because my newly wired up control surface isn't quite working, so I thought I would make sure I have the correct firmware loaded. Cheers, grizz

I have a quick related question that I think belongs in this thread. The two 9 volt pins on the C64 power supply are -9volt and +9 volt (I'm only using 8580R5's), correct? I'm stuck a little on how to wire up the transformer... What I think is correct is gnd and +5volt on 2 pins, and +9volt and -9volt on 2 pins. Cheers, grizz

How about this transformer.... still not cheap, but it won't add noise! http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?vendor=0&keywords=TE62062-ND I had 3 C64 PSU crap out, and one took every single right channel sid in my MB6582 with it. I'm using the MB808 (others have too) PSU design, but using a 12volt transformer. It's not done though so I can't swear 100% it will work, but it works real nice in my MB808... Cheers, grizz

I am testing my core and dinx4 with the MBFM v1 firmware, and the encoder that I am using isn't working properly. I understand that there are different settings for different encoders, and that will have to edit the setup file and then recompile it... I can't figure out which setting is appropriate for my encoder though. I am using: bourns no switch 18 det Part #PEC11-4125F-N0018 I would be really appreciative of any help and guidance. In the Track ---> "Event" page are you changing the port to AOUT? There is also a cv configuration page that allows you to choose the specific AOUT model you're using. And lastly, if you look in the AOUT port section in the manual you will find what the various Event and Channel configurations do... Hope that helps a bit.

Strophlex: If you have time would you mind listing the steps that led to successful oscillation? I need to get my 4 filters working properly so I can make music with them... cheers, grizz

I haven't yet. To be honest I have a order saved with mouser that I haven't finalized that includes some alternative capacitors to try. grizz

I inverted the channels, and I can play audio through the filter fine. The cutoff works, and, depending on the gain trimpot setting, when I turn resonance up with the filter open the audio signal gets a tiny bit quieter... No self-oscillation.

Right now I am stuck on trying to get the filter to self-oscillate, and having no luck. Just for clarification, I don't need to have any audio going into the filter to get it to oscillate? As I try unsuccessfully to get my SSM2044 to self-oscillate I have a question. When using my MB-6582 to calibrate it I should set cutoff and resonance fully open, and turn off all oscillators. I then should play a note (say an E4) on my keyboard (controlling the MB-6582), and adjust the gain (P1) until I get self-oscillation. And the waveform coming from the filter should be close to the note I am playing on the keyboard, correct? The reason I am asking is because this isn't working out for me :sad: Cheers!

I have a few feature questions: 1. When I am setting up tracks to control my seppoman SSM2044 filter is there a setting for "range" similar to the MB-6582? On the MB-6582 I set the range in ensemble->FIL->min=000 max=FFF. On the sequencer I am initializing the filter tracks as CC data, and the cutoff channels I am setting on INV, and the resonance on V/Oct. I'm just not sure about the range aspect, and I would like to make sure I am getting the full range. BTW, I'm using 2 AOUT_NG's and 2 ssm2044 filters... 1 controlled by the MB-6582, and the other controlled with the MB-SEQ. 2. Is it possible to change all 4 pattern groups with one knob? Like maybe the transport? CHEERS!!! grizz

Thanks for the response. I hadn't thought about it that way, but it makes sense. I'm actually having some troubles setting the resonance on mine. It seems that when I turn the resonance all the way down on the MB-6582 I get a audible buzz, and I can't get them to self-oscillate either. I don't own a scope, so I may try and take everything over to a friend that owns one and make my life a bit easier. I used the caps that Seppoman recommends so I am assuming that I shouldn't have too much trouble reaching self-oscillation. Cheers, grizz
