  1. I'd love to hear some samples! I wonder if they sound similar, but less noisy... That would be pretty amazing for recording purposes!

  3. Hey all, I have one SammichSID (SOLD) and one SammichFM I built that I am selling because I built a MB-6582 and a MBFM based off the SammichFM base PCB with a custom control surface... The SammichSID has two 8580's in it, and both synths work perfectly. I am asking $250 each + shipping... I didn't bother asking permission because after reading through the threads it seems like it isn't necessary for these. Hopefully I'm correct! I'll email pictures to whoever is interested. Cheers, grizz
  4. I have a few questions about my MB808... 1. My instrument selection encoder is incredibly jumpy, and is really hard to select the correct instrument. I'm using the encoder that came with the Version 2 PCB's. Is there something that I can change in the ASM file? 2. I would like to use my 9090 with the MB808 sequencer. I can't find any info about the default channel for the output. Is it channel 10 like the MIDI in? I'm sure the information is documented somewhere obvious, but I simply can't find it. 3. I've noticed there has been a lot of talk about people wanting to use their 9090 with the MB808, and I'm wondering if anyone has changed the 808 firmware to accommodate some of the differences between the 909 and the 808? As a feature request I'd like to suggest a separate page for sequencing the 9090... That would be pretty cool. Would it even be possible? Cheers, grizz
  5. God damn the other LCD just died... Everything else works totally fine... wtf???? I'm leaving it on for a bit and monitoring the 5V pin on one of the LCD headers to see if it fluctuates at all... Can someone tell me how to test the backlight pins properly? Thanks alex
  6. Its been in use for almost a year... it gets moved around a lot from studio to practice and to shows, but I definitely wired it correctly... I know cause I've blown them before
  7. Soooooooooo... one of my expensive pretty optrex display seems to died. More specifically the backlight seems dead. It is on my MB-SEQ V4, so I switched the two displays around and it isn't the core. Has anyone had problems with these dieing? Are there common causes? I don't want to spend another $40 to have another one die too. I also just noticed that the other display's backlight is dimmer on the left half of the display... I'm going to sit down and test the 5v pins on the LCD jumpers on the core32 later, but maybe someone has thoughts or knowledge about why this would happen... other than the displays simply failing of there own accord... Cheers, Alex
  8. Hey all, I have a set of 16 ALBS Waldorf Knobs, black with red. I'm asking $20 + shipping for the lot. Pictures below. PM me if you're interested. Also, I have a couple of none DIY things that I'm looking to send off to a new home: 1. drumstation is a V2. I'm asking $250 +shiping, -- Will sell and ship this after June 8th, as I need it for a show. 2. Health Club, "New Game" semi-modular synth. Take a look at their website for specifics. http://www.healthclub-music.com/ng.htm $700 +shipping OBO... If you're interested PM me and I'll email pictures. I don't have web hosting, and don't want to clog up the forum by uploading them to my gallery. Cheers, Alex
  9. Thanks. My quick scan over the MBCV page had me thinking that was probably the easiest route. Cheers, grizz
  10. Hi all, I have finally built, calibrated, and cased my SM2044 4 channel filter matrix. It sounds pretty amazing. It consists of 1 AOUT_NG, 1 12 volt regulated PSU, and 2 SSM2044 filter boards. I've been using it mainly with my MB-6582, and a bit with my V4 SEQ. I think it would be amazing to have a dedicated application that was similar to the SID firmware (LFO's, ADSR's, patch matrix) without the synth component, and with dedicated cutoff and resonance knobs for each channel. It would be nice to have the ability to have multiple cores like the MB-6582 so that other filters could be added.... Does anyone have any ideas about how realistic it would be to achieve my goals? If it sounds doable I'd be interested in peoples thoughts on what the best strategy would be... Edit the MBSID firmware, start with the MBCV firmware? I just taught myself how to change settings in ASM setup files and recompile firmwares, so I am woefully lacking in a my programing knowledge. I'd like to hear whether or not this sounds even remotely feasible... Cheers, grizz
  11. Thanks rosch, that is a great starting point for me. cheers, grizz
  12. Hey Seppoman... Any chance you might still publish a schematic for adding pots to control the cutoff and resonance? Cheers, grizz
  13. After a long time working on other projects I finally replicated your readings, and... OSCILLATION!!!! Thanks for all the help... damn they sound so smooth! cheers, grizz
  14. It is most likely the USB midi unit you are using... I had a similar problem with my shitty tascam US-122, and when I borrowed a different brand from a friend it worked... but since I built a GM5 I've never had any problems of any sort, well... except for the ones that I directly caused  g
  15. Still some work to do... It works though.

  18. Cool. Funny I just had a similar breakthrough with my recently finished 9090... The Ride Cymbal wouldn't work, and I could NOT figure out where the problem was. I figured it was a transistor or an IC, not a short or bad solder joint (cause I never do either... ) and when I looked at the Ride Cymbal section of the output board for the 10th time I found 1 pad was lifted and therefore breaking the signal path... Oh well, at least it works now! Cheers, Alex
  19. I followed theses directions http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/windows_toolchain_quickstart and it worked like a charm. I now have my sammichFM base PCB and my V1 control surface working beautifully together! Thanks Wilba! cheers, alex
  20. Argh :pirate: I knew that was going to be the answer... guess I have to learn how to recompile... Hopefully it builds some character too. thanks wilba.
  21. Since we're both in Portland (and its finally fucking sunny so I'm feeling generous  ) I have 2 PICs that are confirmed working with the firmware installed. You can borrow one to test with if you'd like... PM me if that would help. cheers, grizz
  22. I was wondering if anyone has updated the V1 1.4a firmware to work with a sammichFM base PCB and Tk's designed control surface? I built my base PCB, and when I tested sound with the V1 firmware I got quite the cacophony of noise... When I uploaded the sammichFM firmware it worked perfectly. Wilba mentioned that there might need to be changes, and I'm assuming it has to do with the different power requirements. Anyways if someone has changed the firmware, would you mind sharing it with folks that are using the SammichFM base PCB with a control surface? Or TK: Are you planning on including said setup in future releases? Cheers, grizz
