  1. @nils: cool! you should run a small batch of your pcb design. would love to buy 1-2 pcbs if they are afforable. i mean the material costs for a swinsid should be in the range of 5-8 EUR incl. pcb manufacturing. great for someone who wants to fully stuff a mb-6582 but shies away from ripping 8 c64. @grizz: sorry, no sid module at hand :( i can only test it in an old c64, whether the shop owner sold me legit stuff or not. why not buy one, if i can confirm the functionality? it's 18EURs incl. shipping to you.

  5. OMG bought a RME audio interface --- brutal 1ms latency + lots of mixing option. can't wait to plug in my sammichFM and finally have sum fun

will do! the sammichFM has been dormant for too long.

ah man I want! I'm probably going to get a Saffire Pro 40 myself since an RME Fireface 400 is out of my price range... They make some amazing gear though (so I've heard) so congrats on that!

nice :-) you should upload a video when you figured everything out.
  8. I had to look up "convoluted", "erudite" and "droll". Sorry, English is not my mother tongue. @Peter Lindener: So as I noticed from your posts you are eager to contribute to the Midibox community and unleash your academic superpowers. The idea of merging the Arduino platform with the midibox platform wasn't a good one as we found out, but this doesn't mean your skills aren't needed. Why not extending ultra's Ableton launcher with my LCD-button matrix idea? Have a look here: I'm currently too busy with my daily workload and when I have some free time, I'd rather use it to program my brain instead of the Core32 module. Yeah I know, but after installing the toolchain I lost interest and cared more for sports, meditation and arts in general. So why not dischare your energy on that project? Most advanced Ableton users will find that useful, you can bring yourself in and maybe distribute a kit, which probably can be sold without any losses. Classic win-win situation. Watcha think?
  9. definitely! how much would you charge for a front and backpanel? when time has come, I would like to buy both of them from you, too.

    VFDified MB-6582 :-)

Awesome! VFD, Manga + illuminated knobs. Will show this my buddy, who owns 2 MB6582 PCB kits but procrastinates building them for years.

Lol'd at the Satan thing. Oh no, flamewars... let the numbers speak. Did some testings with my Terratec Phase USB 26 (24bit/48khz) and the Spectrum Analyzer in Live. First spectrum shows the signals of the shut off click and the signal of the sammich being turned on without ever being played or being shut off via the power switch. Second spectrum shows the signal of the Rhodes Piano played and then the signal of the sammich being stopped playing tunes. There is a slight difference (the -24db peak at 500hz) between the signal being on but stopped playing and being turned on anew. You can see it, but you can't hear it. Has someone an opinion on why this happens? Noticed the same thing with the sammichSID back then.

    sammichFM

Did read all  So I plugged in my goobay PSU and listened closly to it. Indeed, it produces some kind of high-pitched, squeeky noise. I consider myself having a good hearing, I never go to concerts without earplugs. But this squeeky noise doesn't appear on the headphones. They are Sony MDR-V500 ones, not the best, but also not the worst. I'm not sure, if the not hearing is due to the headphones. Will check the signal of the audio output with my soundcard. Maybe I can see it, instead of hearing it. Will report later on.

The PSU from Pollin turned out as a switch-mode PSU from goobay. But I do not notice any noise. At least when no sound is generated. In contrary to my sammichSID, where I always noticed a slight hum even when no sound was generated. So my question is: how do I have to understand the sentence "They generate far too much noise in the audio." from the building guide? Only noise within the sound generation or a general noise on the audio outputs?
  14. haha "pornographic red" is my invention. it's the best description for the look and feel of the color. i guess the official description is "ruby red" or something similar. and yes, i was tempted to adjust it with PS, but i haven't installed it yet on my new system. i would have used the contrast menu.:sorcerer:
  15. nothing wrong with night shots. got the same problem today with capturing the "pornographic red" of my new LEDs. they came out only "average red" on the cam.
  16. So I'm pretty much complete with assembling the Sammich, just ruined the case lettering with a bad matching color. :phone: Hope I can fix that. But I'm very happy with the coloring of my kit  Here is a shot. Did I mention that the usual suspects did an amazing job on designing the whole kit? I can tell you they did!
  17. Well, somebody knows how to code  Any progress with the VFD for the MB6582?
  18. Nice soundtrack and nice display. Wasn't Wilba recently asking the forum to convince nILS that the new designs need larger displays? Well, this might convince him a little bit. Although only the resolution got higher, not the dimensions.
  19. Thought, it's a good idea to throw in a picture of my LED painting progress. Actually airbrushed it, but haven't tested the bightness yet. They are Kingbright 100mcd. Wish me luck guys. I probably need some more days for finally assembling it. Voltage tests, case letter painting and LED soldering aren't still done yet. Plus a ton of other stuff to do besides assembling the Sammich.
  20. Except for the knobs, have a look at: http://www.midibox-shop.com http://www.mikes-elektronikseite.de
