  1. @JRock: I recently asked nILS the same question. He said, don't buy a book, start coding. He's probably so short-sentenced, because countless people ask the same question over and over again. A friend of mine told me, that the sample code for the Arduino is super understandable and a good way to learn coding because it gives you a quick feeling of sucess. Lucky me, I was able to avoid coding so far. Hopefully I'll stay lucky for a long time :D
  2. @schrittmacher: bathing in happiness, since you will get the case job done. may the force be with you! :super:
  3. @RR: Maybe you want to check out this thread: - or Ultra's topics in general. But just giving you a hint where to look. No idea what modules you will need. Still a newbie.
  4. Oh no, I made an unboxing video today :-) Thank you Wilba
  5. @SLL: The different between the standard blue/white LCD and the Optrex LCD is stunning. Can't wait to get my hands on the white/black from Optrex. And Mouser finally delivers after a bank transfer period of 10 days! :frantics: Just have to visit my customs office tomorrow to get the parcel from Wilba and start soldering.
  6. Aww, come on, don't blame the innocent koalas or lorikeets. If it's meant in spite Karma will do its duty and imports douchey dance music to Australia making more lads go dance like this: edit: video description: 2tee and Krez Gabber at Defcon in Melbourne 07 Feb '09
:turned:

    sammichFM

@imp: We sure have, but I'm too lazy to visit one. Why leave the house if the mailman can bring me one ^_^ @Hawkeye: You have a great DIY-attitude :-) But with my experience, I will likely blow the sFM into pieces instead of powering her. Therefore I will stick with my switch-mode PSU first and see if induced noise will occur. If so, I'll try the Pollin PSU and report on the forum.

    sammichFM

@m00dawg: Well, the description says "stabilisiert" i.e. "stabilized", which to me indicates that it's a transformer based psu. Do switch-mode PSUs need to be stabilized? Probably not. But I'm not sure about this. The product description is quite poor. @Hawkeye: The sammichFM draws about 200mA according to the sammichFM building guide. If 1A is provided only in the lower voltage range, I guess at least 200mA should be provided at 9V. But still guessing... @all: Any recommendations for a transformer based (linear) power supply here in Germany/Europe? :clover:

    sammichFM

Maybe a potential PSU candidate for the sammichFM? http://www.pollin.de/shop/dt/MjA3OTQ2OTk-/Stromversorgung/Netzgeraete/Steckernetzgeraete/Steckernetzteil.html Reichelt doesn't carry suitable PSUs, at least I haven't found one.
  12. @djaudiophile: why not post a buy request in the fleamarket section? if nobody wants to sell you some, just wait for the next bulkorder. but can't tell when the next one will take place. be sure to check the forum regularly.
  13. djaudiophile: 3000mcd are way to bright. I'd like to quote Wilba: Their brightness is 20mcd which is sufficient.
  14. My guess for the kit taking so long is that Smash & Wilba are making sure it won't turn out as a lolcat kit: Why not buy him a beer and ask nicely?
  15. Awaiting excitedly his shipments from Texas and Melbourne :-)

Can't wait to solder my first SMD chips. Have a good feeling about this.

  16. lol'd at the title  That's because it sounds pretty flawless and is the best one you released so far :ahappy: Although the chord triggered by the SEQ4 could use some reverb and some flatness in my opinion. Greetz back.
  17. stare into 2000mcd with eyes wide open-> -> :pinch: -> -> :afro:(diagram of how to become Ray Charles)
  18. @Siempre La Luna: Good to hear! If your LEDs are 200mcd bright I sure will be fine with 100mcd. I plan to keep it eye-friendly since 25mcd are bright enough for me, so no need for the 2000mcd ones from Hong Kong :pinch: Thanks for the advice & inspiration and I will keep you updated on how this idea turns out. Probably in the beginning of June I will have the sammichFM readily assembled.
  19. @JRock: Feel happy not knowing him. He made one or two decent tracks, but then he somehow started to make pseudo-deep music and the radio stations didn't stop to contaminate the ether with his music. And in Germany you are obliged to pay fees to the stations, even though you don't own a TV or listen to the radio. An internet connection is enough for mandatory payment. :pirate: That's the reason why artists like him stay big beyond their "best before date". But well, enough negativity for today. I recommend "Welle:Erdball" for interesting and well-crafted German music. "Tanzpalast 2002" or "Arbeit adelt" are nice tracks made by them.
  20. @Siempre La Luna: I really like your design and already voted 5 stars for it . May I ask you for the LED brightness? I would like to use white-painted red-glowing LEDs in my sammichFM design, but I'm not sure how bright they should be. I consider using 100mcd ones. Best Martin
  21. @Jay: You know Herbert Grönemeyer?
  22. @Jay: Nahh, you will always have my love, even though it's a little cold sometimes. But love is love! I'm sure you discovered new areas in singing, no man has discovered before. Consider my criticism being a matter of technical nature, not questioning your artistic talent. The song is indeed catchy!
  23. Thx for replying Peter, yes I'll finally start building two of these MB6582 together with a friend. He finances the project and I will source the right parts for him, while he is studying and working. So after all, they won't be mine but I'm planning to marry them with a RME Fireface 400 and a sammichFM. Hope this turns out great. Thanks for the kind offer, I'll ask my buddy if an OLED is an option. We wouldn't turn down a suitable VFD either
