  1. Du könntest auch n VFD probieren. Awesomeness +1 :)
  2. Also consider reading this building thread for the control surface, which contains a list of all parts necessary :-) (ps: shouldn´t we move it over to this forum section?)
  3. Hätte auch Interesse, und wenns nur ist, um T.K. die Hand zu schütteln ;-) - Klappts noch im Oktober? 31. oder so?
  4. thx, i like your track below this thread as well. great 8-bit style & melanchonic :)
  5. Before heading on to the next midibox project (mbseq v4), some music needs to be produced :-) This track features your favorite MB6582 in bassline mode and a mere elektron machinedrum which has been degraded to a bystander not doing much :). Btw, did I say THANK YOU, COMMUNITY? The MB6582 has more bang than my mom ;-)
  6. came back tanned from holidays. First thing to do was powering up that mb6582 to see that all sids are well XD

  7. Would love to own a O1V96 but its way over the budget :). phileyator, as you said "again, not VLZ", is there any problem with VLZ mackies? Also thanks for suggesting that Allen&Heath Smithy, it sure looks nice, but I would not like to "pay" for that USB port, which I don´t need...
  8. Hi Sinfourmusic, yes 6581 and 8580/6582 can be combined in the MB-6582 (just use the same types in each of the four stereo channels). You should then build the baseboard with PSU power option B (http://www.midibox.o...struction_guide) There also appears to be a rather nice frontpanel construction guide available since a few weeks :) () :-)) Bye, Hawkeye
  9. Thanks for the very quick answer, Thorsten! And thanks for all the MB-Stuff you have given to the world :). Will keep y´all posted regarding this "cheap" vfd, it will take a while though, before everything is ready...
  10. shit man, ya really hotten up the thread ;)
  11. Hola, after seeing Futuremans and mr_kholls fantastic VFD display pictures, I am thinking of using VFDs for my SEQ-V4 with a custom frontpanel... I am now investigating some "cheap ones" available here in Germany, the Futaba M402SD10FJ. You can get two of them for € 43,82 per piece plus shipping from Mercateo. Link to tech specs: http://docs-europe.o...66b80d12d9a.pdf Two questions: a) will they work with the Core32? They offer jumper settings for parallel mode (motorola), parallel mode (intel i80) and serial mode. b) where can you get VFD display filters for 40x2 displays (i´d like to obtain an orange output, if possible). I know, that PSC creates them, but I found no retailers for end customers... Also, I am aware, that the display area is a little bit smaller (137mm display width instead of 147.5mm display width on standard 40-character lcds), but the frontpanel will be an adjusted version of Wilba´s really cool CS, so I don´t worry too much. Thanks for all answers! Peter
  12. Hehe, I also am in the same position as you two, and need a mixer with as many as possible aux sends (for using fx units). After doing some research and reading lots of reviews, what stayed on top of my list (I have not fully decided yet) was the Mackie 1642 VLZ3 for ~500EUR, which is a lot of money, but will be sufficient as your midibox machine park grows :). Also, it offers quite good value for the money, lots of channels, quite compact design, the equalizer section is very good, has 4 aux sends, very decent overall sound quality... 16 channels may sound like overkill, but when you have a MB-6582, you have 8 input channels alone (if you do not passively mix them together), add one or two stereo synths and one or two fx machines and you need them all... Greets!
  13. Wilba says: "I have not done a diagram for the rotary encoders, as it's a bit redundant… they are connected directly to the first four DIN modules on the base PCB (i.e. JD1 to JD4) as per the normal way of connecting rotary encoders to DIN modules. Just like the LEDs and switches, you can assign them to any pins of DIN modules and configure this in the table in the .asm file." You can find out, how they are actually connected by tracing the PCB .pdfs: http://www.mb6582.org/plans/MB-6582_CS_PCB_R2_Color.pdf http://www.mb6582.org/plans/MB-6582_Base_PCB_R2_Color.pdf
  14. is soon heading to holidays and can´t take his midibox stuff :(

    1. Kartoshka

      Kartoshka

      soooooo similar to my situation.

  15. Sorry to necro-raise this thread, but i got two things on my mind, and i cannot sleep... a) Smithy, that hot gurrrl voice, was that you? :-))) Unfortunately not, i guess :) b) I posted two historic MB6582-baseboard-hi-res screenshots (10 mpix, beware) for krisschneider, who wants to build one and whom i promised some. Will be heading to holidays soon and can´t deliver in the next weeks :) The first pic is without the SID output sections and without all SIL/DIL headers. The second one is complete except C2 in the power section and the 1kOhm resistors for the CS. Sorry for spamming :) Gnight, Hawkeye :)
  16. Thx, dude :-). Will create a longer version when there is time...
  17. Most of the sounds are directly from the MB6582, filter sweeps are performed by the native 8580 lowpass filters :) http://soundcloud.com/hawk-eye/crusin-antarctica
  18. Hi, if you are into filters and resonance, the 8580 / 6582 are better than the 6581, just what altitude said. Also I´d highly recommend building the MB6582, as it is fairly easy to build and you have eight slots for SIDs, which really rocks (Sammich is "only" 2)
  19. As a sidenote, you can also use a free trial version of corel draw downloadable from corel. It only works for 30 days, but that should be sufficient, if you have a one-shot project.
  20. Thanks Snoozr, creating it was a lot of fun :). Still awaiting word from Wilba :)
  21. Sorry for asking this, but could you document the filterbox building process for us mere mortals? I am very interested in building one myself, but could not find a parts list or build documentation :(. I have done a tutorial for the MB6582 CS (see it would be awesome for someone to write a) a base board tutorial and b) a filterbox tutorial so we have complete newbie-friendly build documentation for the awesome MB6582 + extensions ... :-)
  22. is rockin´ the mb6582 :) - fine fine fine thanks thanks thanks!

  23. Hi Shuriken, As far as I remember I received a 25v version from SmashTv which fit perfectly. Bye, Hawkeye
  24. Nah she was not hot enough, did a sid feedback-mod demo instead. The ambient background string starting at 00:13 is an unaltered and unenhanced 8-channel sid output with feedback mod :)
  25. Thanks, dude :) Just wanted to tell everyone, that the tutorial is now officially complete, just added step 17 "Building the back panel". The feedback mod really screams ;-) nILS, if you read this, could you please delete the empty postings #9 and #10 of this thread? Thanks, man! Hope you enjoyed it. I really love the MB-6582. 8-SID polyphony with slightly different overdrive/feedback settings sounds really, really awesome! And I want to recommend Smithys real cool knob removal tool. Comes in handy, if you had shaky hands soldering the CS: :-)
