  1. Hmm. The video on Sparkfun's site shows a lot of light bleed between buttons. And it looks like they're using the button matrix assemblies we've all been drooling over... :-[
  2. Well, judging by the magic words Alps and 10k, I'd say yes. WHich I'm pretty sure someone here has already had a go at, maybe a couple of years ago. Oregon Scientific, not Oregen.
  3. No no, it's not in the way, just trying to encourage you not to get further broke...
  4. stryd- you've got a 16x7 waiting for you ....
  5. Yeah I'm with him :D
  6. ALL PDFs Weller's "Better Soldering" booklet: Weller's "Tip Care and Use" Weller's "Ten Commandments of Soldering" ALL PDFs
  7. It was hacking the Creative SB Live or 128 card, can't remember which, to enable extra analogue ins and outs, and a few other mods IIRC.
  8. Instructables are running a "win your own laser cutter" competition!
  9. <blush> That's probably your second pot. Depending on personal preference, it might be handy to leave that as a pedal :) Assignable MIDI pedal :P :P :P Doubt no longer! This page also has pinouts for the joystick port itself. There are three listed there, so rather than going through them for any difference, I'll just pass the index page on to you :) You might be able to work out how to make up a single cable, rather than two cables and an adapter.
  10. IS there a simple way of denoising a switching supply?
  11. Well if the throughs are plated you could solder it on the front side too.
  12. There's a VC LFO and ADSR here which are implemented on PICs - might be some useful code to gank.
  13. OOOooooo.... Does your code contain an envelope follower?
  14. 4x4 Matrix Keypad with DIL header. US$8.33, price breaks at qty 10, 25, 50, 100. From Sunrom, who have a bunch of other interesting stuff It'd be handier if the DIL header was on the back :-\
  15. Ditto!
  16. You know, stryd, if you added an emulated joystick port to the MBMK that would make a load of cheap keyboards (and four pots) useable. Same goes for a USB Host IC ... This one's nice, it has two high speed USB ports, software switchable to Host or Slave. It even has PS2 ports.
  17. Those two resistors can be any value (not too low I guess, or it's a short) as long as they are -exactly- (measured, not from the spec) the same to within the error margin of the ADC. Otherwise you might not get exactly 1/2V/Oct
  18. Nice keys! What kind of keyboard were they off? And are you getting any noise from the switching supply?
  19. If you want to connect it to a computer and use joystick to MIDI software - you could buy a junked (but working) joystick from a thrift shop. Remove the circuit board and connect the controllers (buttons, knobs, etc) in place of the ones on the 'stick. For example, replacing the analogue joystick with two pots, one replacing the vertical and one the horizontal. As you're using the 'sticks PCB the software end thinks it's a joystick, and converts it all to MIDI none the wiser that you've modded it.
  20. Google translates "Hohlkehlenspitze" as "Fillet point" I hope you don't mind that I added your tip to the Electronics Basics thread in Tips & Tricks
  21. Google translates "Hohlkehlenspitze" as "Fillet point"
  22. So it's a MIDI version of a looper pedal?
  23. Brilliant idea for knobs!
  24. Sure do - I've put my name down for one already in this forum. Are you talking about one of the two you reserved?
  25. Hey stryd, that might work for the keycaps on the POS keyboards.
