  1. I can just imagine visitors to the studio. "Nice desk, what is it?" "Oh, I built that" "..."
  2. Speaking of which, my free ChipQuik just arrived ;D ;D
  3. I don't know, I don't speak Russian?? Try asking in the Russian forum.

Except when you move the pad up the cursor would move down... or if you flip it left right, same problem... my head hurts
  5. Not all SIDs are socketed
  6. docuwiki above -> synths -> Midibox FM
  7. Or you can ask here for anyone with SID chips for sale in the Trading Post forum. You're after SID 6581 or 8580 chips. Sometimes you can find them on ebay too, but not often. The two links at the top of the page are your friends.
  8. First thing that came to mind was using a make-or-break 6.5mm audio jack, with the NC to ground. But They're crap They're bulky They're not modular They're crap There must be some kind of modular make or break connector?
  9. Yeah I just scored a dead microwave that way, with a nice shiny stainless steel case ;D Must have been a different project where the guy built his own laser tube as well. Pretty sure it was on one of those two sites.
  10. I've added some more stuff to that page and tidied it up a bit just now.
  11. If it's just the look of old knobs, buttons and faders you like, you can always mount them on new components. ie take the knob off an old analogue pot or dial and fix it to a new encoder.
  12. Also try here. I remember seeing one project that used large relays as solenoids to move/strike things ie take the cover off the relay and use the mechanical action of the switch inside.
  13. There was a DIY CNC laser project mentioned on hackaday or makezine recently. Pretty impressive, guy built his own CO2 laser. Another option for getting stuff made up is emachineshop.com, but they're in the US.
  14. I think there's some serious coding involved there. Conversion to SMF would be good. Still, even being able to save them, name them, then load them back into the Bankstick is cool ;D
  15. A good place to start?
  16. You could strip an electric motor and use the winding wire
  17. One more advantage of living in a warehouse
  18. Watch out though - the pots in the mixing desk are likely to be logarythmic taper, and MIOS requires linear taper. What's the desk?
  19. you might also like to check out emachineshop.com
  20. I've started this. i hope that's OK with Artesia and everyone else. It's just a framework at the moment, to take the machine translated pages from original documentation and fix up the English. Anyone's welcome to have a go, especially wennst du kann ein bisschen Deutsch sprechen.
  21. Heh. Second Google link for Velostat.
  22. Lame comment. I would guess these parts are all machine assembled. Too much fine work for humans, and no kids even if they are hand assembled - you'd want trained adults doing that surely. But then what would I know
  23. 'm not the well-advised person you're after, but the motors will still need analogue driving, won't they?
  24. Yeah, and software, don't forget the software. If you pay for it that is *cough* Except you can boot into Win with Bootcamp, or VM it with Parallels. RAM and HDs at least are transferable, most pro and semi pro audio cards, and some video cards (with a ROM flash). Finding a spanking new Mac with less of the above than you already have could be a challenge. I really should get that cough seen to
