  1. Just a suggestion - feel free to tell me to shut up ;) Maybe the connectors could be a little easier to get to.... *shuts up*
  2. The effort's appreciated :)
  3. Hey, this thing is really great!! Seeing as each blog would be specific to a person or group, I've started my blog in the user_gallery section. Admins/Moderators, Please let me know if I should move it. Anyway, jump aboard people! :)
  4. No worries mate... I recognise the connectors from inside laptops from when I was a hardware tech :) Unfortunately, I got my samples, and I got two potentiometers only, no XY Pad :( I'll still see if I can get them to work, but I wish they'd sent me one sample of each type, like I asked ... I might re-order later on.
  5. Those ribbon connectors have special sockets ... I think the cable is referred to as FFC or Flexible Flat Cable ? Like this for example: http://connector.almita.com.tw/ffc-connectors/01.htm :) Or this: http://www.toby.co.uk/content/catalogue/products.asp?series=ZF1-xx-xx-T-WT-xx Googling for "FFC socket" (WITH the quotes) seemed to get the best results
  6. Don't worry TK, I'm not in a rush :) No pressure here, I have lots of other things to keep me busy (unfortunately!). Maybe in a few months I can help you out with it. Thanks for the tip about the BF flag! I missed that errata. I'll go with that same 16C then.
  7. TK just mentioned something in another thread, and rather than take it off topic, I thought it might be worthy of a thread of it's own... TK - I saw that image a while ago in a German post, and I have it on my list to ask what it was... now i know :) That looks really great!! I have been writing a document which I will put on the wiki soon, and I thought you might find this excerpt amusing: Looks like we were working on something similar :D I notice you've used a much cheaper PIC for the slave, which is sensible for a MIDI interface with so many of them... it is a MIDI interface, isn't it :) I was thinking of MIDI over IIC as a workaround for that annoying 4620 EUSART bug, do you think this would be appropriate? I figured that with the greater speed and lower latency of IIC, there shouldn't be a performance loss, but I could be wrong ;)
  8. Someone did write a PS2 interface for MIOS once... At least it was talked about... Anyone know if it was finished??
  9. Hey welcome to the board! 2) You can combine the values in software. What did you have in mind? 4) Yep :)
  10. I smell analog filters ... mmmmm....
  11. Nice work guys. Once it's all final and documented etc, I think this module would make a great addition to the MBHP.
  12. Nice work :) Well in that case... I wanted to put a few things online - A blog of construction of a 4xSID, MBFM and MBSEQ, and design and code blog for my sequencer... How do I go about that? Edit: Sorry if that's a stupid question but I've never used a wiki... I can see how to edit and format the pages, but I'm not sure how to create pages... I wanted to do that because I see so many other cool customizations being spoken of, but often the final successful implementation goes unpublished... It seems a shame. Maybe some other projects might like to join mine on the wiki too? :)
  13. You will get all the guidance you will need from this forum... But if you don't take lots of time to read and maybe print out all the relevant documentation, or if you are not very patient, you stand no chance... So long as you are willing to stick with it, and be nice, you'll be fine :) Good luck with the box. I'll enjoy watching your progress.
  14. This is great 8)
  15. *phew!* :o It's such a relief when that stuff happens
  16. Shame the PDF isn't clear enough in the diagrams to figure out how to program it. Not sure how you could use any of these in a MIDIBox though, aside from the MBSID mod matrix Check out the manufacturer's site www.foryard.com .. Some nice looking toys there...
  17. You joined the forum just for that one sentence? ;) Could be interesting, although I'm not 100% sure what for... but the datasheet is 4 empty pages...
  18. Sounds great, everyone wins! :D Thanks and good luck to all :)
  19. MMm I always did like those buttons :) What I want to see, is a round version, so they're easier to drill panels for....
  20. That parameter does not exist in the skeleton application. The skeleton is an empty application for use when you want to write a new application of your own. In your case, you would want to upload another application such as the MIDIBox64, to make your midibox do a certain job. You will find the DEFAULT_LCD_SIZE parameter inside the main.asm file within that application. Pardon me for saying so, but I think that maybe you need to read the ucapps.de website, this forum, and the Wiki, for a little longer, so as to get a clearer understanding of how it works. You will need to alter the source, compile the application, and upload it, after uploading MIOS. It is usually a simple procedure, if you take the time to follow the instructions. I know this project is really cool, and if you are like me, it is an exciting thought to rush forward, but a little patience will mean that you will be finished sooner :)
  21. I have a CT1740 here with both chips on board: YMF262-M and YAK512-M I found a handy link containing all of the soundblaster model numbers at http://www.tarigon.de/tramp/sblist.html I'll paste them here, in case that page ever disappears... Edit: removed the list. It is maintained at the following link, and can be updated with new info. http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=soundcards_with_ymf262_and_or_yac512_chips ;D
  22. Careful with LED's... People often forget that the really bright, cool looking ones, are generally very dangerous for your eyes if you look at them for extended periods of time. You might be the coolest kid on the block with custom blue LED's, but in 20 years, you'll also have the most cataracts. Don't be a fashion victim!
  23. Once upon a time, there were quite a few different floppy drive and CD-ROM pinouts, and this kind of cable twisting was a daily occurrance in our lab. Go for it :)
  24. Hehehe, my initiation to electronics was a TV when I was about 11 years old... I picked it up from the tip, so I could open it up, because I was curious how they worked... While I was poking around inside it, I shorted the pins on a 240V capacitor about the size of my fist (it was a very old TV) with my screwdriver. :o :o ... I woke up a few minutes later on the other side of the shed.... I was hooked. And maybe just a little scared ;)
  25. The model that was in the listing was in one of the datasheets I saw... Can't find the lkink now though, sorry mate.
