Without saying that any of the below is correct, there's more than tzwo options :) a) SIDs were broken to begin with b) Damage during transport, kinda unlikely though c) broken while fiddling with and trying to build them into a midibox SID d) aliens obducted them and brokeded them in the process (aliens do not like chiptunes)

C9, C10, C13 and C14 are part of the DACs' sample and hold circuits. The 2n7 is the suggested value from the YAC512 datasheet. Pick something decently close and it'll work (possibly not as nicely).

You'll have to get all of the parts for the control surface from somewhere else, as Smash doesn't stock those. You seem to have a bunch of SIDs, some C64 PSUs... I guess once you have the baseboard kit you're ready to go :) You don't *need* the CS for it to make sound and play .sid files etc, so tackle the baseboard first :)

You measured the resistance of the caps... Interesting ;) Since you don't really know what's hooked up to the caps in the SID (unless you can read the die-shots) the only thing you can learn from that is that, well, they're different. That doesn't really tell you anything though. The filters in the SID are analog and hence have some tolerance, hard to tell to which degree those tolerances are "normal".

If *everything* except for the filters is working, then your SIDs most likely have broken filters. Do you have a way of testing them in a C64 or some other known-to-work circuit?
