  1. this is just a general question really do you think there will ever be a cheap easy to make ie not smd midi-usb module i understand why there isnt the silicon problems and the slackness with the microcontroller company sorting it out but is it at this stage just reinventing the wheel and should i just keep hacking commercial units into my projects especially considering the price s/h of these units nowdays. kris
  2. i like the idea of the filters based on the am3372 as in the matrix synths but then what do i know im going to start looking for chips i think
  3. david no its in derbyshire but im talking to a friend about cutting my new plate computer controlled laser and he might be into one offs for reasonable amounts ill ask my brother actually sells and installs this kind of kit but the problem is anybody who has paid upward of £5000 needs to get some return so theres not much profit in one offs compared to production runs but i find if your especially friendly and get them interested in what your doing sometimes they say yes turning up with good accurate drawings and computer files all ways helps kris
  4. yea it took me a while to realise all of the subtle humour just doesnt translate i do try to make my posts as easy to read as possible sorry if it doesnt allways work kris i think everyone here speaks midi-box anyway

Here to day free to a good home (well as long as you pay the postage ) ive been clearing out my parts box before starting my new midi-box poject and ive come across two of the usb modules check the photos i built these a few years ago and never managed to get them working. a friend who is very good solderd the surface mounts on so they are ok . i think i struggled with the programming of the chips thru usb-midi but i dont remember in the end as it was holding up finishing the project i just included an m-audio midi-sport anyway as i say there free if you want them it would be too painful to desolder them for me after spending so much time on them but your welcome maybe im making them sound to much like a lost cause theres a good chance that its something really stupidly easy wrong with them as to be honest my electronics skills suck they have got tobe worth the postage for the crystals, chips sockets etc or maybe ive just got to give them a decent buriel in the great parts box in the sky kris P1010004.JPG P1010003.JPG P1010002.JPG
  17. thats the thing ive been messing with resolume but id like input on good software to check out before i commit to layout etc i really like live manipulation of images after playing music for a while vj ing really takes it to another level there are so many different ways of going about it each vj has a very different approach and even for resolume each person would have a different layout even more so than for music anyway thanks for the input its keep researching i suppose there are some good vj boards i should check out i suppose getting a head of myself i suppose as before the vj mixer ive got a new topplate/layout to make for my midi-box and the midi-controlled analogue filter is very interresting as well so many projects so little time kris ps thanks sasha i really like what youve done to thoes acrylic buttons are wild pps the one thing id definately like to include is multiple video outputs resolume only has one it would be good to have say 4 different projectors then say have four sources of image mixed between the four outputs . this comes from working with a vj in delhi doing 4,6,8 projector instalations he was using splitters to split the signal and creating material with four different images to much of compromise to much preperation over spontaneity iknow theres a vj program like reaktor soyou could configure four outputs but i cant remember what its called or if its any good enough waffeling already kris

  23. yes as already said pci riser cards i used one in my midibox computer all in one they are available in left hand or right hand with one or two slots any itx computer supplier will have them the problem ive had with the one i use is that it rides out of the pci slot on the board sometimes ive even thought about soldering it in but at the moment i just relocate it regularly kris ps i tried one of the ones with a flexible ribbon cable and i couldnt get three different versions of it to work so it went back apparently the pci format is low power so you cant extend the connection to far as i thought about making my own ribbon cable pci extenders so i could mount the cards any where in the case
  24. i dont know where you live but its abit like that round here anyway and ill always need my music just think post armagedon midibox
