  1. yup i guess :-\ no don't it's good/interesting to read about those things/results, i like your modular approach to the sid, especially the possibillity to modulate the sid with other control generators then the "usual" lfo's and envelopes. (different is good ;D) keep it up! marcel
  2. Hi, read up on the midibox link page it's all there. yes you link the cores just by midi, which are a 2 pins wired internally (if your making one box) Midibox link is part of MIOS, in some(every??) applications you can choose in the menu how to link. cheers, marcel
  3. hi, i would order this one; Russenberger Rocker Switch or this one; "EUROPEAN STYLE" ROCKER SWITCH bout the joysticks BTW, they have 2x10k aswell (look @ potentiometers) cheers, marcel
  4. hi, yeah, it's the idea you use one switch (=one "button") which has 2 switches inside; could be one with 4 pins (2x2) or 6 pins (2x3) etc. cheers, marcel
  5. hi bobby no, because the thing about the transformer is that it actually has two transformers (2 supplies) that both have 12V; you can connect 2the 2 together (in different ways), or use em separate. what's done here is to connect them in series so you get a 24V Voltage between the negative side of one and the positive side of the other. when you consider the point where you connected them ground; you get +12V on the pos.pole and -12V on the negative pole. you can do this with the right transformers and with batteries (9V for example) but not with a line of a power supply like a wall wart (but thats more bad experience then theory) good luck, marcel
  6. 8) too hot...., but must answer..... no no; for the OPL3 board you need a 12 V bipolar power supply. Bipolar PSU's provide both positive and negative voltages (compared to a shared ground of 0V) which gives you 3 pins/poles/voltages; in this case; -12V, 0V, +12V You can make this by using a transformer which makes 2x12V (or a bit higher) out of 220V (110V out of europ). check this schematic; http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_opl3_psu.pdf TK uses another smaller (unipolar) transformer to also get the +5V for the core. in short i fink your psu won't work. cheers, marcel
  7. there are leds that will burn your eyes out 8) (well, kinda) 'think they are better then a lamp. cheers, marcel
  8. hi, verify the sid with a working C64; verify the other ic's with the troubleshooting guides given in the forum and on the core pages with this little information we can't help you; follow the guides; write down your results! When you then still don't understand we can probable help you more chrs, mrcel
  9. :-[ I WAS TOO ENTHOUSIASTIC>>> +/-$10,- is the price for when you order >1k (1000) DAC's, of course buying one is still quite expensive; MAX525ACPP Order Multiple 1 Quantity 1-24 25-99 100-499 500-999 1000 and up Price $33.01 $26.22 $19.42 $16.82 $15.54 oh well; anyone for a group order :-\
  10. Hi, Taylor I think this way it's possible at least,.... but man 24 core modules in a box...... :o 2 lcd's per core should be "easy" though; saves you some money/time good luck, marcel
  11. Hi, Imagine your own custom built hybrid midi controlled analog drum/synth/fx box; (i am ;D btw. we need smileys that drool); your going to need a lot of cv's for that. Smash if this goes; you can count me in for 2! cheers, marcel BTW the DAC's (max525) aren't so expensive anymore, bout 10 euro@maxim (no more sampling people; this is cheap enough for such an IC; AOUT will only cost about 30 euro)
  12. Hi Dave; There are no dumb questions..... it is.... ;D there are but few things that are not possible with midibox/mios Don't know how to do it but midio is the place to look. Can you clear up for me where you need the logic for/what it does(how does the router work (link?)); this is not a trigger/gate, or is it? If triggers is what you are after check the forum for the tr-808 clone or coron ds-8 midification cheers, marcel
  13. een encoder kun je kopen; bij conrad zijn ze heel duur maar check hier; voor +/-1euro www.voti.nl succes
  14. You've read this page right? http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_link.html cheers
  15. Hi, You could just build the 2 different cores/apps. in one box; connecting via midi internally. Then (i think) you can also select midimerger or something in the apps. so they behave as one...but i'm not sure; read the info manuals of the apps you want to build; it's in there somewhere. good luck, marcel

check the main site, it says; Free MIDI DIY ProjectsÂ
  18. hi adam, yeah just keep in mind that there is no -5V pin, you just read -5V when you put the red(+) probe on the ground pin (0V) and the black(-) probe on the +5V pin. cheers, marcel
  19. hi adam, The C64 PSU has both AC(9V) and DC(5V) power. The AC doesn't have a positive/negative side, so it just measures 9V AC whenever you probe both pins. The DC has a + and - side ( "-" is ground here). The ground pin should be the pin in the middle of your plug. Put your black(-) probe there and with the other probe look for a pin where you get 5V. When you reverse the probes it will read -5V. So if you don't have any clue which pins are which, just look for two pins that measure 5V or -5V--> when it's 5V you got the red probe on the (most) positive pin when it's -5V you got the red probe on the (most) negative pin (ground). hope this helps, marcel
  20. i can't help you with coding but i like.... ;D keep up the good work!
  21. hi, google for "diy ribbon controller" for instance; http://www.wiseguysynth.com/larry/ribbon/ribbon.htm but i've seen other (simpler) designs before too. I think you can buy them ready made as well.. hybrid synths ;D
  22. hi, to upload MIOS load the sysex file in MIOS studio. Then power on your Midibox and within 2(?) seconds send the sysex file. If it didnt work just power off your mbox and try again (it always sends a request message when you power-up) When you have MIOS uploaded, you have to upload the SID-application sysex file. It's done in the same way, but you can do this whenever the unit is on. goodluck, marcel
  23. 'hey, check this; http://www.alltronics.com/resistors.htm (d2k used this joystick for his sid) they are 4 dollars. Check if you pay less shipping from them; if not i could order them (i live in holland) and send them to italy (if this saves money) cheers, marcel
  24. just follow the schematic http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_4xsid_c64_psu_optimized.pdf if you have only one core+sid-->Â look at the core4sid4 connections you need the 2 switches if you want to be able to turn your sid off (without having to pull out the power supply) it switches both the supplies (9V, 5V) off so both modules will be off. single switch is asking for trouble... good thing is that you can buy switches which have 2 switches inside (SPDT? i never get these terms right..) anyway good luck, marcel
  25. you guessed right sir! What you need is joysticks with 2x 10k lin pots d2k used these: http://www.alltronics.com/images/22P010.jpg cheers, marcel
