  1. yes, that was kind of my goal in this exercise, It's just a hair bigger than the core depth wise and height wise the connections are pretty much sitting on the top of the midi connectors
  2. This has been on my todo list for a while but could never get a spark going to get it done until I discovered square button caps (lame, I know, but it worked). The results: Got the case pretty much right the first time (SD card holes need to be moved back a bit) and I'll post the part numbers, case file, and other relevant bits shortly. Here is my case file
  3. I actually recommend you start with just a Core17 and familiarize yourself with MIOS and studio. Its an easy build and a good opportunity to learn to use the console and basic uploading of apps. Once you have your head around that, you can start adding the interesting stuff. The documentation looks a little daunting but once it all sinks in everything will come into focus quickly.

  11. Have you considered just attaching the driver boards directly to the control surface PCB via female DIL header (like on Anushri?) would save some wiring..
  12. I could never get the newhaven OLED working correctly with my MB6582 due to the 4 bit communications, could be the same problem with the sammich. Last I spoke to Smash about this (several weeks back on the forum), he stated that he still was using that list as a tally of who wants how boards (and kits also) and you should contact him and HE will put you on that list if you cant get registered at the wiki.   19. Those are fine, I use them all the time, I actually used those exact green ones on my SEQ.. Just make sure when shopping at Mouser. you go by the part#, not the picture when picking one out. The one in the link is a good example, the pic shows a white on black but the description is for a green one. I always check the Kyocera site, they are always correct there.. . Find my thread about improving the contrast on those, I had a really hard time getting them to look good (the backlight was shining through and they looked blotchy) so I made some changes to the circuit which improved things a lot

  22. Yeah, LPC core for sure. I have used the 7bit microchip digipots and 10 bit analog devices ones for my day job. The microchip ones have a bit better i2C implementation and are available in a bunch of different pinout configurations (pot to ground, rheosat, etc), the AD ones were simple up/down serial jobs in a painfully tiny micro QFN package. We use them for setting gain settings and I dont think they are something that would be of use in something like this since the settle time between taps is 1-2 seconds. Further more, there is no way to read the resistance of the part, they way that it is done is that it uC does a reset and then increments the taps to roughly the right spot resistance wise. I did a bunch of tests to measure the accuracy of this and its in the 5% range. I think a better approach would be to do something like how old school analog synths saved and recalled patches
  23. actually Jeff based his work on the xlarge stuff so your on the same path. Unfortunately, the whole of the 808 forums wiped and all that knowledge is now gone :(
