  1. Is there any VST substitutes for SID Cutoff and Resonance filters that can sound as good as CEM, or even close? How do you process SID sound and what effects you prefer?
  2. Sebastian, that is great. I really like synth example 9. ;)
  3. I thought of that myself before I got my first encoder with integrated button. After few turns and pushes I left that idea. It is OK to use that button only if you must, because of the very limited space and in some other applications but not sequencer. For 2U rack, better go with smaller, separate buttons than integrated. 2U rack is not so small. Here is the good example of PayC`s beautiful sequencer...
  4. Well, I didn`t, but it really sounds like a good idea. That would be something different as none of the previous projects had an audio input, except SID`s audio in which nobody use...
  5. I like the way you did LCD alignment to the Tascam controls. Good job!
  6. I`ve been ask that question before, and I`ve been thinking about that... Try to imagine where would you hide that masking piece. If the rotation angle of pot is only 180 degrees it would be possible. With normal pots you will need to have flexible mask that can come from some container behind the light source. It is hard to explain. But it would be very complicate to DIY. The only useful way is to have illuminated or "shadow" pointer which is not bad, but knobs already have pointer that is visible and touchable. Sure, you can always make ledring for pot like MTE has done for his Traktorizer. But, doing so for faders would be very easy. I vas experimenting with faders/ The only thing is that you need to have nothing at the top of fader at least as the fader travel length. So it is also half usable.
  7. I tried these knobs on my sequencer, and because the reason you mentioned they are not bad at all. You never grip whole knob anyway... I must add, I have more narrow space between encoders than the most of boxers here as I decided to have knob aligned to corresponding section of display, and not out of it. I am still going with knobs TK used for his SEQ as they are much more aesthetically suitable for my design.
  8. That`s cool! :) So, did you disabled swap file?
  9. Thanks Stryd. Actually, the idea is much more simple... The window is made out of "smoked" transparent acrylic I sprayed back at the back. So, when you engrave back side, it burns off the layer of paint and it becomes transparent and act as a mask for boring round LEDs. It is perfect and super-easy solution to do any kind of illuminated signs or text. ;) After my last gig (never did one at night before) I really think I need to make one illuminated panel controller as it was pretty difficult to work. Only light that I had was monitor and some distant fire torches. Now I truly understand why some people here are using all colours buttons they can find for their boxes. It is really helpful, that`s for sure.
  10. After some testing you have seen in a previous posts I made some final parts. Assembly consists of LED ring mask, LED spacer sub-panel and encoder sub-panel. Here is how it looks disassembled without LEDs and encoder...
  11. Finally some sucker for red on black. Blonde on blonde is so passe. :) What kind display are you going to use? Found some red?
  12. Thanks in advance. I didnt know ribbons can be usefull to play untill I`ve seen the guy plays with his electribe`s small ribbon at youtube. So good.
  13. Olivier, your Arcade looks so nice! The only think that somehow dont fit in the rest of the design is those ribbons. They are great, but the way they are mounted looks kinda unfinished and not in same quality rang as the rest of controller. They looks like a sticker. What do you think? Maybe you could make some frame around it to hide those edges. If I was you, I would make same thing as you did for display, so ribon could be glued on the sub-panel. Similar as on Korg Electribe. I would really like to see it in action, especially those ribbons. YouTube is great place for that, feel invited! ;D
  14. It is nice to hear Balthasar see the potential of our growing community. :) I voted opaque white as it matches best with every panel color.
  15. Wasn`t funny to me! Or I just don`t understand your sense for humor you filthy rabbit. I was pissed off by your attitude!
  16. I tried last night keeping knob in hot water from kitchen boiler (pretty hot but not boiling), but seamed not changed much. It comes off more-less same as before. I repeated same 2 times, but really didn`t noticed much change, maybe was no change at all. I think I won`t put knobs on encoders, until I finish everything and be sure they are staying on. :-\
  17. Ohh, didn`t know that. ??? I have elegant solution now. :) Thank you.
  18. You dont understand the motivation??? I`m shocked!!! What should be my reason..? I`m some freak like in a movies.... "This is OUR little town, leave it till dusk you filthy newbies" FUCK!!! This is so not truth! I intended to trow attention to the things that actually happening and it could happened to you! If I made people think of it I`m glad, If people just automatically gave up just because I said it... and not think of it, they are stupid. I dont believe people here are stupid so see no problem. Other thing is I`m not pessimistic, I am cautious with reason! That is very different my man. I didn`t wanted to join bulk order at first place. Don`t need motorfaders for now at all. Have anybody ever told you ...hey man...think of it..OK? Or you always do everything right and you never been fu**** up because you been "relaxed" My intentions was very positive and caring, not pessimistic, and if you don`t understand THAT I have nothing more to say to you man. :-X -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Exactly that is what I wanted people to think of. Can they be comfortable to trust their money to some new people, or not. I trusted my money to some people on the forum, and I never mat any and have no real guarantee, but it is not big chance that somebody would dirt up his name in community just to get some money and run. So when one spend some time here, and others noticed him around that means he is not some guy who is just passing by. Sure, but it is just a matter of trust. I never thought... let`s say Wilba (he is popular these days) could disappear with money for PCB`s and pannels! Thrust. Never meet him, I know nothing about him, didnt even speek much to him.. but he is here to stay for a long time with same name. Thank you for an offer. I already get some MF for bigger price ;)
  19. I like your simple way to do it, but I didn`t find putting them on a problem, removing is kind of struggle. It could be tricky to sink mounted knob into the hot water without sinking whole SID ;D ;D ;D Now seriously Thorsten, how did you remove it without knife (or ther tool) when knob becomes cold? Or maybe shaft dimension tolerance is so big that there is a difference in my encoders and yours. ??? I thought of that, but same time, I would avoid dusting around the encoder. Sure, it can be done if you protect it. I desnt really cncerns me, more annoying. I hate to see standards mismatching! >:( @stryd I always remember that removal tool when digging the chips. I used to do it to my PICs so many times in past that some pins are bended few times. Really good tool! Must find to buy it!
  20. From my experience Albs knobs fits nicely only to Alps encoders/pots. I tried it with Voti, Burns, and some noname encoders, both plastic and metal shaft, and they are very hard to take off, especially Waldofr type knob as it is coned and fingers are just slipping. So I found there is NO WAY to take Waldorf knob of Voti`s encoder without sticking some knife underneath it, but it really shouldn`t be an option as you can damage the panel that way.
  21. I really don`t want to insult you addict nor snykehd, but you are pretty new here on the forum. I really appreciate initiative, but personally, I wouldn`t feel comfortable to send my money to the people that I don`t know well, or they need to be least part of community for some time. There is pretty much fraud around, and I experienced some. So, please don`t be offend with my attitude, I just don`t want somebody to be fxxxed up. :-\
  22. I know how you feeling mate. :-X I find hot glue very helpful, but it can also be true nightmare. I experienced what Robert is talking about myself. I learned one thing... If it is not just connector-cable connection don`t glue it. All parts must be easily replaceable. But, one must pay price to learn it. :( I cannot say I didn`t expect it, but thought... everything is tested and working great, lets glue it to make it more tidy, but sometimes is better to have messy wires than have a nerve wrack if things go wrong.
  23. Pretty retro sounding... ;)
  24. I had a gig during this weekend in the woods, and this sequence triggering option would be very, very cool to have. ... some other gig for sure. What a wonderful news for awful Monday. :)
