Was only kidding, think it loos really smart, especially the way it plugs in to the panel.

Looks awful, you should send it to me for proper disposal :P

There's a second hand CD I want which is for sale on Amazon.de. When I put my address in a get a message saying that it's not possible to post it to the UK. Is there any chance that somebody (a German resident) could order it, recieve the package and then forward it on to me. Obviously I will re-imburse all costs via paypal or by whatever means wanted. Thanks, Eddie

LOL, that was something I've been thinking for a while, butlack the skill. The MB-6582 would begood for some simple games with the matrix, LCD andllthose encoders. Maybe get 2 of them playing against each other via midi for a laugh.

Could still be the ground plane dessipating the heat

wonder if one of those gas powered irons would be any better???

If that's not possible then there's the uglier solution of using some jumper wires!

Just picked up the "You can code" linux format special. I've not had chacne to read through it, but ti seems to give a nice introduction to various different types of coding as well as a section on programming the Arduino. Costs £9.99, could probably get a coding book for cheaper but I think it's worth it. COmes with a distro CD with distro, tutorials, code sample, etc on it too

Hay have found a cheap-er way of doing this, but it could look a bit messy if not done right... I found an old kids game in a charity shop for £1 this weekend. It's called lights-out and has monome style buttons. There's loads of them on ebay too. Some versions look better for salvage than others... http://www.geocities.com/jaapsch/puzzles/lights.htm. They only have red LEDS, but maybe the board could be modified to take multi-colour. I'll strip it down at some point and take some photos. The only problem is that it's quitea good puzzle so I'll be sorry to gut it.

Nice! I was thinking of going for a red one too, the acoustic qualities of red paint always make the equipment sound better. ;) I like what you've done with the black paint on the sides, it certainly makes you x0x look a lot more slender. As for the illuminated buttons, I think I'd be happy with both the LED on top and an illuminated button! E

Personally I sit in, 24/7 waiting for new posts to be made!

Traktorizer - a Midibox to control Traktor-DJ-Studio -
Goblinz replied to MTE's topic in MIDIbox User Projects
I like the look of this. I especially like the idea of using the vinyl as a capacitive touch sensor, I'm maybe not too keen on the look of a 7" covered in paint! Not used traktor yet so not sure what controls are needed so can't comment there. I'm wanting to build something similar to this in the future so please be sure to keep us updated on your progress -
The handling fee sucks, down to royal mail being b*st*rds.

Yes, bring on the translucent buttons. If you're wanting rare parts kits, or maybe complete kits then you could try looking at the ladyada forum, there's usually a selection of people selling them on there.

I already have that thread open, ready to read. Is it really necessary for two threads to point to the same post? [/grumpy old man]

No spares. I will take names for another order when I finish getting these posted out. (There's been a ferw people asking)

That's what i meant with my edit. Tis annoying, i think i chucked a keyswitch on eout a few months ago :/
-
Or desolder it from the original keyboard! There's 101/102 keys on a standard QWERTY keyboard, maybe more in some cases. The MIDIO128 allows up to 128 digital and 128 digital outputs so maybe you could taylor it to you needs. You'd maybe need to mess around with the keyboard and map it all out. I'm still fairly new to all this so forgive me if i'm wrong. ***EDIT*** Just had a think and the MIDIO128 maybe isn't the way to go as it would need to address all the key switches individually. With the keyboard being a matrix you would maybe only need a midibox 64 style box with some custom firmware for the matrix.

I think customs is a bit hit and miss in the UK. When I got my baseboard kit from Smash I didn't get charged. In fact, the only thing I have ever been charged for was the first lot of SIDS from Wilba.

The EPE Mini Theremin looks like it has a bit more to it. IE "3 distinct sound voices. I'd like to build a very simple one for myself at some point as I reckon it would be a really good addon for one of the spare Ains onthe MB-6582 so will look into the kit you suggested at a later date.
-
I know this is a bit of a longshot, but does anyone one have a copy of the May and June 2008 EPE (Everyday Practical Electronics) magazine and would be willing to send me a copy of the Mini Theremin articles. A Colleague at work wants me to build him a theremin but doesn't want to spend too much so I could do with seeing the parts lists to work out the cost before i go ahead and buy the magazines. E

I'm not sure if the stuff that I got was designed for drinking... My Polish friend assured me that a lot of people drink it over there. The words on the bottle were very similar to rectified spirit. I think it was something like 95% Ethanol so no hangover in the morning. It burns if you drink it neat though. It's mentioned on wikipedia as being a drinking alcohol anyway. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rectified_spirit and I've not turned blind, so all good! ;) Incedently, I've been offered an old laptop (farily good spec) that's hat a very sweet cup of hot chocolate poured over it. Apparently the LCD is good but the hard-drive broke and the keyboard is now a bit erratic. Would bathing the whole motherboard in isopropyl alcohol cause any serious problems?
-
Unfat? Would some fine wet and dry paper have the same effect? Does anybody know where can I get some 90% alcohol from in the UK (The last bottle I got sent over from Poland got polished off at Glastonbury :-[ ). ***Edit*** Doh, should have read the other posts, questions answered!

LOL, Superbump!!! Like the look of this box, very steam-punk.

I've changed back for the time being. The old brighter forum is much easer to use, easier to spot un-read posts and easier to find. I don't want it to appear like I'm moaning, just giving the reasons. I do like the nice dark look of the new theme, but practicality has to come first some times. Are any more themes going to be added in the future?
