  1. /G tries to find a way of distracting S1 away from his desk. I can just picture you sat with a shotgun outside your studio in a rocking chair, waiting for them to come a calling. If you're really worried about security you can rent my jack-Russell for a small fee... better than any burglar alarm or shotgun. Just out of interest, you guys who collect all this vintage gear, is it for playing with or keeping safely wrapped up somewhere out of the way. I have a friend who has literally 1000s of transformers which nobody is allowed to touch, not even him.
  2. See I have an old greenscale dumb terminal especially for the purpose of making things more 1337.... I think I need to get out more.
  3. Is it bad of my to laugh, just a little? :-[ Had to do some de-soldering on my mb-6582.. a leg was bent over on a 40 pin IC socket... had to be cut off >:(
  4. They're evil bastards, don't spoil my micro-rant! ;D

  6. Nice paint job!
  7. The thread title made me cringe. I thought you'd posted some midibox via SMS and they'd performed their own special type of surgery on it :?
  8. Or alternatively they could offer better food and more people would eat there. We used to do a similar thing with McDonalds... order some food and go back in and say that we were a burger missing, they would always give us an extra burger without checking the tills.
  9. Of course they're to blame, selling unhealthy food, excessive advertising aimed at kids, etc. When i was young a McDonalds was a real treat, you'd be lucky if you got one twice a year or so, no kids go and spend their dinner money in there.
  10. Surely if it stops somebody here from making the same mistake and buying from this guy it's a good thing. The same as warnings about dodgy caps or fake SIDs.
  11. Then there's a fact that MacDonalds are making our kids unhealthy. Well to be precise, parents are making our kids unhealhy by allowing kids to eat there too much, but you know what I mean, MaccyD's have a big part in it.
  12. It doesn't matter waht anybody else comes up with, "Mime" has to be the winner. :)
  13. Found a bit on PRS licensing. The festival should have this anyway as they have live bands on. I think there's a PLL license that you need for Dj's/Dancing but am unsure whther he'll already have this for the bands. Basically we have been given an area to use but only if it doesn't cost the gy who's running things too much.
  14. When's the bulk order happening, count me in. Is Smash offering kits in his shop? :P I don't think this guy understood that DIY isn't Destroy it Yourself.
  15. Hope it all sorts out soon mate. Unfortunately it's something that can't be avoided... 17 year olds doing the occasional stupid thing and parents caring. I'm sure it'll be fine in the end. Well done with the marow donation. I've been signed up to the Antony Nolan trust in the UK (marrow database) for a few years now and it's a bit nerve racking knowing that one day I could get a phonecall requesting that I drop everything and head off to see some strangers about a fairly painful op :/
  16. I'm getting involved with putting on an area at a small Uk music festival. We're having DJ slots on an evening, but during the day/mornign we're doing "vagrant disco". Basically somebody turns up with a CD and the DJ will play it. Having spoken to the festival organiser he's not sure if we can do this... He mentioned something about asking the bands whoa re playing not to do covers so he doesn't have to pay royalies, but he's already got a dance tent/DJ's sorted. Does anybody know if playing a CD belonging to somebody else at a festival will incur royalites? Obviously we'd have to mention to people that they must either let us use an original CD, or preferentially provide us with a copy of an original CD that they own.
  17. I'm looking at travelling round Eastern China fo a few weeks next year (mainly to catch the eclipse). Has anybody here ever been before and can recommend places to go? I'm toying with the idea of popping down to Vietnam while i'm there. I've found one news report online that mentions a ferry that goes from China to Vietnam but can't find anything else about it, does anyone know if it exists?
  18. Caught this one on Hackaday earlier on http://hackaday.com/2008/11/29/harmonic-keyboard-controller/ This project reminds me of a guy I saw in Berlin who was playing a wine glass harp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glass_harp, The glasses seemed to be arranged in a certain way to make pleaying very easy, they must have been about 6 deep by 15 aacross.
  19. I'll check the wiki and see if there's removal instructions
  20. Is it midibox compatible and will it fit in Wilba's MB-6582 panel design? Oh, and count me in!
  21. A lot of "live" acts do this. I even have friends who have lent bands synthesizers before because they need something to "fill" the stage... shocking
  22. Wonderful! Thanks for sharing :) It's always nice to see people making their own housing from scratch.... A bit of effort, but so much worth it.
  23. Does "Hello world" count?
  24. Yey! I mean, urghhh, it's a mac. :P Did the gas powered soldering iron do the trick then?
  25. Thanks, will get in touch when the weekend is up...
