Sorry to hear about sincity, all the best goth nights seem to shut down, but often reappear a few years down the line! Unfortunately it looks like the one in twelve club closed in 2001 www.1in12events.co.uk There's Wendyhouse at Leeds university which is a good club night, but as I mentioned beofore, the upstairs "cyber" room is playing a lot of bad dance music, but still plays all the classics too. It's on the third saturday of the month. Occasionally they use "The Mine" downstairs which is an amazing venue. This is the one goth type club in the area where people from all over the place travel to get there. My friends in leeds have started a night in Leeds called Mortalled (links to follow) which is at the Library Pub near hyde-park. The best night I've found in a while which plays EBM, Industrial, Darkpsy, techno, etc, all miced in with a bit o prodigy and faithless... can't go wrong with that really. Corporation in Sheffield have a room upstairs called "Sin" which is on every Saturday which plays all the right music. If your wanting a festival that caters for that type of crowd then Whitby Goth Weekend is amazing. There's two official nights (Friday + Saturday) but "fringe" events are held from the Wednesday to the Monday. It's held twice a year too.

A bulk order was run a while back. There is a supplier doing them at $25 each, or the blue ones are $15. I'll contact them and see if they can do a price break and will also see what else I can find. I can feel another knob order coming on so may run them together.

What is the night called in Manchester? Our local EBM/Industrial venue (wendyhouse) has started to play crap techno, mainly to go for a general studenty type thing rather than those with a darker taste in music... I may be tempted to venture further afield to see what's on. I think only TK can say whether the two scenarios are OK. Personally I'd think it'd be OK as you are charging for your time and expertise rather than making a proffit. They buy the kits and you provide an electronics lesson as it were.

Which C64 power supply has the most juice / current ?
Goblinz replied to Futureman's topic in MIDIbox SID
Could be that the power supply is on the way out ???? Mine started doing weird things before the 5V line cut out last week. -
I've also gone through 2 LCD's.... Managed to rescue one with some rather interesting soldeirng work. Aren't we due another LCD bulk order?

Which C64 power supply has the most juice / current ?
Goblinz replied to Futureman's topic in MIDIbox SID
I know of four types. There's the beige brick with the ridges, the black one, and two types that are wedged, one with a longer wedged face than the others. There also seems to be differences with in the models. IE some ony have the needed pins and some have a couple of the Pins reversed. -
Hmnnnn, I wonder if rather than putting a huge brick on top of his expensive midi equipment he'd consider donating the said abused equipment to me!

I'm kind of on the fence with this one... Installing sound limiters could help protect venues. Ie if the sound is limited to an acceptable level then it'll keep the people living locally happy. Form 696 seems a lot morre damaging to live music venues in the UK Form the facebook group The ethnic background bit really concerns me... what reasons that aren't racially motivated could this be for?

It's on it's own... I misplaced mine for a while!

LOL.... there hasn't being a pop track i've "liked" for a long time. I can appreciate how any piece of music is put together and techniques used. Does anybody remember the omnichord? IIRC it does a similar thing to the microsoft software mentioned but for a melody, not your voice. you strum the medody in and then it adds backing to your creation. Sounds very cheesy though. I am tempted to get one though as they look cool, have good bemding possibilites and a lot of it could be adapted for use in other projects. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omnichord

I try and keep away from those realms. It's the same as when some crap pop music comes on the radio and you start wondering how hey made certain sounds and realise there's maybe a good bassline hidden away in there and the production is quite good... Suddenly you could start app recaiting Britney Spears.... ???

which way to go building a rackmount WILBA MBSID V2??
Goblinz replied to rosch's topic in MIDIbox SID
Aaaww, look at you being all coy. Going for the "hard to get" approach. -
All lies, Wilba is a SID based lifeform!

Just had English pancakes for tea! I asked my mother what the difference between Pancakes and crepes are... Apparently the batter is thicker and you pour more in the pan too, giving a nice, good, thick English Pancake of substance, rather than the flimsy crepes found in France.... So now you know! ;)

Something i'd like to know too. But moreso controlling the MB-6582 from an external analogue source such as a ribbon controller. i seem to remember reading soemthing about there being 2 sparee analogue ins available?

Bookmarked! And thanks to wikipedia, I'm going to have to try it battered and deep fried at some point. (I'm a big fan of late morning fry-ups after a late night out)

MB-6582 #17 reporting for dance floor duty.
Goblinz replied to Jason Milstead's topic in MIDIbox SID
Wow.. your pictures are in focus! Looking good, what did you use to dye the knobs? -
Are the blood pancakes anything like black-pudding?
-
Find out what part number you LCD is (usually printed on it somewhere) and do a search for the data sheet. The connection information will be on there. Then just match the pins to the ones on the midibox. Wilba's PCB is just a collection of the modules on one board so the circuit diagram/pin outs for the core sections will be the same as the core modules as sold by smash.

Can't really criticise the Scots... my ancestors were Scottish border reavers. It can be very hard to understand at times, particularly when your the only one in a group of Scots. Broad Yorkshire accents are just as bad... They recently had to give rural doctors training in how to understand some Yorkshire terms.
-
I do quite like that case though... Although, the knobs could be a bit loser to the sides, and how are you supposed to read the LCD whilst seeing which knob you are twiddling?
-
Definitely a pancake... see, it comes with lemon and sugar. American pancakes are drop scones. I find it amusing that so many of us use the same language, but words mean completely different things... England did invent it though, I won't be accepting American or Australian English untill it comes out of beta testing ;D

It's a misunderstanding. Scottish bank notes are not legal tender in England, or as far as I know the whole of the UK, including Scotland. People have mis-interpreted "legal tender" as meaning that you cannot use any money which is not legal tender to buy things. In reality, legal tender refers to what you can legally use to pay off any crediters (restricted to a certain amount of coins, notes, etc.) ... basically, it's bullshit. In the past people have also being dodgy about accepting Scottish notes because they were easier to forge due to their security measures, and also, people didn't know what they looked like so could not check them properly. They're also a yucky shade of brown / tartan and play the bagpipes loudly at night. But isn't America the same as Canada? :P

Scotland is part of the United Kingdom, as is Wales and Northern Island. :) There was that big wall there seperating us, built when the Romans suddenly found a land inhabited by 7 foot giants armed with huge claymores, but it's not much of a wall anymore.

Isn't that just German for pancake? See, the Germans make sense! ;)
