I like these but no adhesive at digikey. I need some for very low profile case. Probably need 1/4" height. Adhesive would be nice if I can find them. My link

Thanks for the reply. I won't worry about it then. I was reading a description of a audiophile upgraded synth and it was explaining the use of high quality capacitors and some kind of socket fluid for ICs.

Thanks for the replies guys. Altitude; What do you call them at mouser or digikey? I think your talking about the ones that look like a pyramid and they squeeze through the pcb holes and then snap the pcb into place? I like those.

Simple question here. I want to be able to hold one note down and tap a couple other notes while the first note is still being held. How would I program this into the seqv4? Do I assign (in the event page) different layers to control notes as well or lenghts as well. I basically want one notes lenght to span the track and the other notes to be shorter without the first note fading out because the length layer is shorter to make the quick notes fade out fast. Am I making sense here? Or do I use a initialize the track for chord style? Regards, echo

I was noticing some odd behaviour when trying to use menu-->trigger to set a drum tracks trigger layers. I wanted to to select a different trigger layer for my drum track instead of accent and I was getting stuck. When I hold menu and select trigger GP, I am given the same things as holding trigger layer C. BUT I was able to at some point use menu-->trigger to select the layers such as accent, roll and nofx on the same drum track. Switching through track groups and tracks then switching back produced some results but I am still unsure of what is going on. I haven't dl'd the 21 beta yet. I was also having issues with a keyboard controller to record notes ect. The same keyboard is controlling the seq menu functions as well and I want to turn this feature off. I am getting notes to my synths no problem but I am also changing the seq buttons with the same keys pressed. On mixer map I was also confused a little about loading and dumping. I am just trying to figure out how to use mixer maps to do program changes effectively. Dump is used to send the map to your synths correct? And load is used to load the map from the sd card correct? Its just that when I am loading and saving and dumping, my mixer map #1 is the same as mixer map#2 which I want to be different. I try to save mixer map#1 with hold select-->save then select mixer map #2 with data wheel edit that and the go back to hold select-->save and when I try to load mixer map#1 my program change works but map#2 will be the same even if I load map#2. Has any one used high quality capacitors in their MBFM or MBSID boards? I am wondering if using HQ parts for these boards audio path would get you a better audio signal? If not just the capacitors then what else would help? resistors? Anything on the pic core would not make a difference right? because its just sending control signals to the sound boards? Since I already messed up my MBFM build and would not want to have to make a third, I wanna get some good parts for this one which will work :)

Hello everybody. I was going to get some more parts for my ultra core and mbfm and was curious as to what types of PCB standoffs are recommended to mount the core boards to the bottom of a metal case? They can have different names sometimes so its hard to really know whats available. I am looking for some that are low profile more than others (if there is such a thing). Links would be appreciated :) Regards, Echo

Well if its only that much I wouldn't mind hearing from US and euro distributors. I am just concerned if it is decided to go with Wilba's rectangular buttons from seq run because that would mean a professionally cut panel would be pretty much required instead of drilling holes ourselves using circular buttons/leds if we wanted that option. Yes Midi Papa ;) Regards, echo

TK. Just wanna say great work. Did you like your circular rubber button matrix idea that you were testing? To everybody. I would think that everyone would of course want a pcb design but what would that cost roughly? Anyone? Vero board is a lot cheaper in this case right? Either way you look at it, it will be a one time job for most of us and 40 hours of build time seems right for something so massive. If a pcb board gets broken down into sections will that reduce the cost at all? Being able to use self made panels and common switches/buttons (round type) would get a lot more of these babies in action. Concerning a panel. To keep costs down I think a simple sheet metal panel of whatever type only cut to size with holes drilled by yourself for round switches and round leds would be a very cost effective panel solution. If you have access to someone/equipment that can cut a big and simple square piece of metal. From then you just get a ruler out and pencil you drill holes and get drilling. The you could write in sharpie, label maker or use the adhesive printing paper technique to get your text on the panel. TK. When you get a chance could you possibly take a close up picture of the wiring on the back of the veroboard and add some text to describe what is where and where its going? I never figured out the button matrix for my MBFM because I don't quite understand certain aspects of schematics. If this seems to be a waste of time please disregard this last paragraph. I am feeling cheap right now and wanna get excited making a veroboard version. Regards, echo

never mind figured it out. I had to press one of th 1-8 pattern buttons of the left side to actually switch to the B bank. Regards, echo

Messing with pattern changing and for some reason I can not switch a pattern on one of the track groups. Say I have it on A! and try to switch to B1. It flashes between the two and the leds on gp 1 + 2 go back and forth. What am I doing wrong? it doesn't change even after a long time. I thought this was a sync to measure thing but it did not do anything in this case. Do I have to create a new pattern or something? Also when connecting with usb to computer there are 4 devices present. Why is this? Is there a certain work flow with using all 4 devices? I also had a whole track group somehow switch midi channels to the def channels on track group #2. So my track group #3 went from being midi ch 9-12 to being the same as track group #2 which is midi ch 5-8. How did I do this? I'll have to go through the feature references thread again. Keep boxing. Regards, echo

TK thanks for taking the time to go through my messages. On my good old tr-707 I could have a triplet time and have it only loop the 16 steps. This is why I am sad:( I love triplet time very much. Ahhh. The all button will be my new friend. Have not tried it yet but is there a way to only select certain tracks? Stay tuned for more testing. Regards, echo

The manual trigger is very fun! It works really good when you slam the snare a bunch and then press select at the end. Easy way to improvise a beat. Nice job! Regards, echo

I just read the manual about this. I put "sync to measure" back to "no" instead of yes and it loops only through the 16 steps. But I thought that when not "syncing to measure" a track will not sync to the rest of the tracks. Is this thinking correct? If I have a complete 16T pattern that I want synced together will I be stuck with it having to cycle through 24 steps??? (16 steps + 8 steps)??? My tiny brain won't grasp your genius. Regards, echo

I am looking into the transpose feature as I am not understanding how to use a keyboard on the midi in of the SEQ to transpose tracks properly. I understand that you select your track and use menu--mode then select transpose. But you also have to go to menu-midi and mess with "in ports" there and that is where I get confused.

TK this thing is AWESOME!!! Great job with the session saving! There are so many features on this thing! I like the way you can hold the mute button to mute parts of a drum track. Is there a faster way to change the note value of a drum part rather than holding the menu key and pressing the event key. Also how do you use the parameter layer on a drum track? I see that you can do roll, delay and others but how do you place them? I was messing with the triplet divider with a track I made that was just regular 16 base and when I would change it to 16T base it would cycle through the 16 steps then on the next pass it would only make it through the first 8 steps resulting in weird beats. The step view helped verify this. How can I get this particular pattern which was made in 16 to act "normal" in 16T? So far I have only made one session pattern but there are so many tweaks you can do I can tell you I will be up late for the week. Regards, echo PS you'll be getting a beer come payday :) PSS I don't know what happened but some of the leds are not working at all. They were placed properly and soldered correctly. Perhaps I didn't do a quality check on ALL the leds before soldering them. I do know that some of the led circuits with bad leds do work because I had an led in one of them before I soldered to make sure I placed them correctly and not backwards onto the pcb.

Me too. Thanks! By the way I need to get some spacers now. I have some 30mm ones and I am thinking I will cut them all different heights if I try to use my dremel. I just wanna get some futurelec ones cause I have no local stores that carry them but I am gonna hate the long wait for the spacers from futurelec (yes I should have planned ahead) Anyways, futurelec is dirt cheap I can get 24 for less than $4 + shipping. My question is: What size should I get? I measured the distance from pcb to panel and came up with 10mm. Should I get 10mm spacers? I might have to get them from mouser or digikey to feed my lack of patience with shipping from futurelec. I could get all 19 needed for like $8 + shipping. they have so many kinds though and I get fustrated with the mass amount of options.

From seeing your giant 16x16 strip board creation, I have to wonder what your doing right now :) Any luck with this TK? Looks liek it will be alot of fun. Especially after the solder sickness and carpel tunnel goes away :) Would you mind letting us know what strip board brand and size you used to achieve your 16x16 result? Regards, echo

MB-SEQ V3/V4 Control Surface PCB and matching case
Echopraxia replied to Wilba's topic in MIDIbox SEQ
Looks good Julian. Now I need to find out how to make perfect 2mm holes without a machine. What size spacers did you use and how was the button clearance when you attached the pcb? Regards, echo -
hey Tk. On v9 I was changing patterns and noticed that they sync start when the 256 steps are cycled because that is what I set the "sync to measure" option to. before i uploaded v9 the behaviour was different in that the pattern would change every 16 steps even though I had the options set to 256 steps. I actually liked being able to cut quickly into new patterns. Could you implement a "pattern switch every ** steps" option? regards, echo

synchronous pattern change is working great. It makes it real fun to switch patterns on the fly and stay in sync. And it will be more fun when I get the leds soldered :) About the midi files. I havent used midi files very much in the past but if I could edit them on the mbseq I would start using them more often. are they stored in a song bank? or would it lay out the midi tracks from the files to each track on the sequencer when in pattern mode. It would be interesting to go to options and select midi player view and be able to mute and unmute the individual midi tracks form the mid files like you would in the mute page and edit each mid tracks notes from the edit mode the same aswell. You could have a pop up warning to tell you your in "midi player view" Then I could assign a function button to make short cut so I could handle classical midi files and seq beats in dj fashion:D I would probably guess that this would be hard to do because the patterns loop and midi files don't. This is probably to much to ask for. I think if the midi files could start synced to mb internal patterns we'll be set. Thanks again, echo

Can you use mios to import and export the midi files?

led thru fiber cable also seems like the way to go. Do you have to get high quality inverter or something to get rid of hum? .

In was looking up some perf board and came across this site http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/category/213/Electroluminescent-Strips/1.html with some used el lighting for only $1 US each. They light up green already. Would this change the color scheme when used with you gold text do you think? They have new ones for $3.50 and $4.50 plus discounts on bigger orders. Can this stuff be cut and soldered back together to get longer lenghts? Regards, echo
