    Eat beans!

I think im having a bout of deja-vu!
  6. It has being a few weeks since i was talking to him, but he still hadnt found a good enough deal on encoders and switches then. the only way this can be speeded up is if people help find him a really good deal on these, and from a fully reliable and dependable supplier.
  7. Ah yeah, the dc offset mod wouldnt solve that issue. I just kinda meant if you ever do play samples with the 8580, that it would be worth doing to boost the volume. :) I didnt think of that! The HVSC seperates has both extensions seperate which is great.
  8. Maybe thats my problem! i was using the Wubi Installer for both versions , and its an automated install. :( Wubi is great though if you dont want to bother partitioning your system, or burn a cd. it installs linux to a virtual hard drive file on your existing Windows File System. Its the safest way for noobs to install it and test it out. Maybe i could of manually selected a display driver too had the installation not being automated! D'oh! Thanks for the info c!
  9. Because i dont want to spend my free time to tbh, i want my computers OS to be user friendly, my computer is not a DIY project! Thats just my opinion, i know plenty of linux users will not share it! I just believe that a good OS should always give the option of doing everything via GUI, and command lines. Not just one or the other. And hopefully in a few years time Linux will offer this. Its almost there! I will. thanks.
  10. EDIT! I just spotted that the Omega Drivers for ATI + Vista are "coming soon" and are not available yet! They do however have vista 32 + 64 drivers for Nvidia Cards. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Have you ever looked at the alternative ATI drivers, called the Omega Drivers? http://www.omegadrivers.net/ati.php I hate the bloatyness impact the Catalyst Control Centre had on my system, especailly the longer boot up times, so decided to try the Omega ones instead. You can always disable CCC but youre loosing out on the optimizations then. After installing the omega drivers my system was back to full speed again, and never had a problem with them. Theres also a lot of extra features packed with them. I'd recommend them to anyone with an ATI card who isnt happy with the bloat of CCC. They also do Nvidia Drivers & 3DFX drivers on that site!
  11. +1 Both gutsy heron, and 8.04 cocked up the video for me, also both couldnt detect my broadcom wireless adapter, so it was goodbye to Ubuntu. No way am i prepared to type out a page of commands to fix driver issues - being forced to use command lines is something that should stay in the 80's imo! Before someone buys a new laptop/pc preinstalled with vista, i recommend checking the manufactures site first, to see if they have XP compatible drivers, so you can downgrade easily. Toshiba is one of the manufacturers ive noticed that have XP compatible drivers. WindowsXP is okay, but TinyXP Rev 09 is freaking awesome! Being using it the last week, and its amazingly faster/liter i love it! Problem is, it uses an illegal serial number, so the downloaded version is not legal but.... By using N-Lite and an XP setup disc image, you can achieve the same results legally by using the same script.

    ;D

Off topic but.... www.japanesebugfights.com Ever check that site out?
  13. Have you tried using PSID files? If you download the HVSC package, each digitized sid tune has 2 files, one .SID, and one .PSID. The old version of sidplay will only play digitized samples in PSID files, so it may be the same for ASIDXP. Also, digitized samples will play very quietly on an 8580, a 6581 would be much better... But.... In a recent discussion on youtube a guy explained a mod which can be done to make the Digitized Samples louder on the 8580: http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=pixcjhqLq34
  14. Ive basically given the lowdown here: http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,12375.msg103041.html
  15. Finally got around to restarting the MB-Sid project. For the Optimised c64 PSU i am using a special wireless protoboard as mentioned here. Here is my plan for the board. *Note* The Pin out for the C64 PSU socket is wrong in the diagram. The GND lead should be connected to the bottom middle pin, instead of the top middle pin! The view is from the bottom / solder side of the board The only part im unsure about is where the 5V+ line meets the GND (-) line (coming from the rectifier), and goes off in parallel to the 220k resistor and LED. Note: I didnt bother putting every cut hole needed in the plan. The reason for 2x4 SIL Pins at the 5v DC end is i can supply 4 Cores if needed in the future. The reason for 8 DIL Pins at the +14V end is to supply upto 8 Sid modules easily.
  16. I bought a Pro's Kit crimping tool for SILs from here. Cheapest i could find on ebay, and the seller was really nice too. Smash used sell those ones too but not sure if he has some now, youd have to ask.
  17. Will it still fit in the case you are choosing? it has even been fit into an original c64 case already with a bit of trimming!
  18. ;D <= Is what my face looks like right now. its great to see it alive and breathing in an etched PCB. :)
  19. OMG... :o you tongue'd me back? Ewwwwwwwww! >:( Um, does this mean we're gay now? :-\
  20. Is that some sad attempt of a joke? :P Edit: Spotted something mentioned about midibox, but didnt find the guide so maybe not! LOL
  21. Which construction guide are you speaking of for future reference Is it the one on the Ucapps Core module page? Hehe its good to find out about easily made mistakes like this in advance. :)
  22. Good question! I havent seen them sold seperately before, so youll have to try google for that one. Id say the easiest solution is just to buy a cheap keyboard like the oxygen though.
