[MB-6582 related] PT-10 box Europe Bulk Order Thread
Smithy replied to gajimicu's topic in Bulk Orders
When i was registering on radiospares ireland the other day it had mandatory fields for business information, so i wonder is it the same worlwide? :-\ I dont know would it be a good idea if i did the bulk order, ireland is a bit of a rip off nation, id imagine the p+p prices might be high, and also the cost of packaging - unless i bought that online. How reliable irish post is too i dont know, its reliable for stuff coming inside the country alright! -
That looks perfect! Should be wiki'd on an Optimised PSU page if one exists.

[MB-6582 related] PT-10 box Europe Bulk Order Thread

That is a fantastic price! We surely would be able to hit 25 - at least. We need to get a wiki up as soon as some generous guy volunteers to manage the bulk order. -
haha, it could be me for all i know, but being 6th on the list or so, it would be fairly disgraceful on my part!

I just totalled up the column in Excel and im getting 123 as the total. Id say people forgot to add to the total figure. Does anyone else want to confirm?

Edit: What goblins said, i should of being more specific. I noticed its gone in the older multimeter too which i just use for the continunity beeper, my working multimeter doesnt have this function.

I found a nice little page here on Cynthias Page called: "Girls On Snyth" with links to each Lady: http://www.cyndustries.com/woman.cfm

LOL. I suppose this gal should also get a mention? Shes like a modern day Laurie Spiegel: http://www.youtube.com/user/tarabusch although i dont think she has done any diy stuff. meh

Cool chick! I think TK should hook up with her, and get married or something! ;)

OOOoooohhhhhh. I just had a look at the fuse close up based on your recommendation goblinz, and it is indeed burnt out, the line is broke, and tested it for continunity just to be sure. So maybe the smell of burn must have come from the fuse, and the smoke came out of the only probe socket which had not being blocked, hence my confusion! ;) Funny how the multimeter still works though. although i think it may have stopped reading AC voltages after that happened. Hmm *ponders where he could find a 200ma fuse.*

I'd never test mains voltage with one of those hobbyist multimeters. I would only trust an electricians multimeter, which have much thicker probes and much higher voltage rating. I remember my first time testing the 12v AC pins of my psu, and a smell of burn coming from the multimeter. Mine has 2 Red sockets for the probes, and 1 Black (Com) socket. I was using the wrong red socket for AC voltages of that size, and hence the smoke coming from the unused socket. Imagine i had tested the mains voltage with it, the multimeter would of set on fire non doubt at 20 times the voltage i was testing on the PSU. Or at least melted it very badly.

Excellent Video man. I wonder would it be a good idea to enable Flash Embedding on this forum? Its disabled by default in SMF. Its kind of a tease to have the button there but not been able to use the feature! ;)

I would also be interested, provided i have money left over from the other mb-6582 stuff. So im a maybe for now! -
Haha cool! It wont be as great as that im afraid, more of a breakdown of the features of the chip, and the history will be of what i can piece together from wikipedia, and that in depth SID page! I wont be flying over to Mr. Yannes to interview him unfortuneatly! But hey at least its a start, maybe it will inspire someone to do a professional docu on the sid or something!

You need to get yourself a "7-pin DIN Socket". I cant seem to find ones that mount onto PCBs, the ones like the original c64 socket. all im finding are the Chasis Mount ones. You will have to solder wires from the connector to the PCB, if you cannot find a PCB mount socket. This is what it looks like, make sure the holes are in the same position: http://parts.digikey.com/1/parts/264929-conn-din-7-pin-female-panel-mnt-sd-70sn.html

I was just about to ask you a silly question Nils, Re: why a 5x addon board instead of a 4x? But obviously in this case you would not use 2 midi sockets on the GM5 PCB right? And by other sizes you meant a 4X, and possibly an 10X for use with 2 GM5 pcbs?
-
Aha! Thanks for the link buhler! ;D How can you have an 8-bit documentary without giving the best 8-bit analogue synth chip ever made, a proper tribute! I guess the Nintendo Famicon being more widely known today has a lot to do with it! I think its time to show the world the power of sid!
-
They also have a full documentary up from last year called "Video Games Live" http://www.2playerproductions.com/video/vgl

Is it possible that some of these patches use Mixed Waveforms? Have you tried playing the oscillators without using patches, just by say playing the standard waveforms via midi? This is most likely not the case but one possible reason nonetheless.

I found this while i was searching for a documentary on the Sid Chip, to see if such a thing existed, I've been thinking of doing one myself the last few weeks - well more of "a history of" the sid chip, and an informative technical demo of the synthesis capabilities of the chip, to educate people what it is and what it can do. If anyone is doing something similar or interested in helping out in any way, sure get in contact. Im not working or in college so have plenty of spare time on my hands. :P According to wikipedia the sid gets a mention in this docutmentary: http://www.2playerproductions.com/video/rftp/ Has anyone seen this documentary? Yatagatsu in paticular? It was showcased in texas this year. At the moment only the trailer and 3 clips have been released.

Pro 7 - Galileo, 2005 German video about the Commodore 64!
Smithy replied to Smithy's topic in Miscellaneous
Thanks man. I thought i spotted a MOS chip on the PC card, but maybe it was just a MOS processor, or not a mos at all. Must look into it. -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKyUnaZgFVo&feature=related They put a c64 on sale for 350 in a modern computer store lol! Id love to be able to understand what is been said but theres some really old c64 footage which makes it worth watching! Can anyone explain what red PCBs are been built towards the end? Theres like a PCI card with what appears to be a sid chip, so im guessing either a reduced version of the c64 in pci form? Or maybe hardsid? ???

Forgive my friench, but holy fuck! :o
