  1. Im a bit of a noob practically, but i think i can answer your questions: 1. Yes, you can have different gens of sid chips in each sid module, SmashTV ships 2 Voltage Regulators in his Sid kitsfor this purpouse, so you choose either the 5v one or 9v one depending on your sid. 2. Remember, you need one Core Module to control upto 2 Sid Modules. So you can have any number from 1 to 8 sid modules, provided you have enough core modules, so for 8 sids, youll be using 4 core modules to control them. Read up on the engines in the sid manual to explain what you can have running on the different modules simultaneously, id find it hard to explain that one! 3. I cant really answer this one accurately, theyre both pretty similar, much less wiring with the sid id imagine. The optimised psu circuit is a tricky thing because you dont have a kit for it, if youve done a midibox 64 then id say youre good to go on the sid!

    Shit happens

Sorry to hear about this man. Do you live in an apartment block? If so, then that guy is putting everyone elses lives in jeapordary with whatever lighting system he was using. If youre gonna grow weed, do it in a house that doesnt effect the lives of other people! Im guessing the guy got evicted since this?
  3. Im thinking of doing one soon, ive been on this forum months and still havent the optimised circuit finished. I keep soldering "dull" joints and its pissing me off, im using stripboard instead of matrix which isnt a good idea, and im finding it hard to solder wires between 2 joints, without melting the insulation. Bought a new iron recently and am still getting these dull joints, bah, if i ever get passed this stage of uber-idiocy ill try and write up a really simple step by step guides for even the biggest newbs like myself. Its totally pissing me off.
  4. I was wondering why the number looked wrong when i posted! It was unlike me not to give into the doubt.
  5. okay first have a look at the LCD Module page on ucapps.de, its on the left hand side in the menu: http://ucapps.de/ From that page youll see that the LCD needs to be "HD61202 compatible". Thats the most important thing. Besides that youre in luck, buhler has recently just built a midibox sid with that exact LCD you linked, he bought it from the same seller. Look at his thread here on instructions on how to wire it, its a bit different to most LCDs: http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,11156.0.html And welcome!
  6. Wow, with the ssm filter it sounds so much closer to a real 303, this demo really makes the sid sceam.
  7. Thanks for the update TK. Im afraid i broke the chain by putting my name down for 2 of these chips, anymore would be a waste for me and im on a strict budget. Feels strange signing up for a bulk order with the King of the community, sometimes i forget youre human too. ;)
  8. That is one mighty fine and thoughtful speech i must say wilba. Smash if youre reading this, i hope the stress levels are low, and the morale levels are high! Keep in there dude, and keep the workload balanced, dont ever let it start to break your back! Does anyone else feel deep down that we should send the head honchos on this forum a gift or something as a token of our appreciation, for the hard work they put in? I know we have the donation buttons (something i hope to use someday, when i get a job/welfare of some sort!) When you consider all the money you save in comparrison to a sidstation it only feels right to do so.
  9. Post up some pics of Smash's Sid module, both above and below, and check all connections. *total newb reply i admit* but it would help people diagnose the problem a lot. ;) And welcome to the board.
  10. Its crazy, random and cosmic, just like the sid chip! Good choice.
  11. That is freakin awesome man! And thorsten that blog is a freakin awesome idea too!
  12. haha yeah, but judging from his last comment.... THE HERB MADE HIM SAY IT TOO!
  13. Actually speaking of dub, im really after getting into it lately. Have you seen the trailer for the Dub Echoes Documentary? Its being shown at festivals around the world, but it might be a while before we see a dvd release. The track in that vid is one of the finest dub tracks ive ever heard! But the only thing that comes up when i google for that artist is this trailer! Theres nothing on discogs.com or anything! Sorry for hijacking the thread buhler, ITS NOT MY FAULT, THE HERB MADE ME DO IT I SWEAR! ;D
  14. I was just curious to see how last weekend went! :) Im in no rush to use these knobs anyway, it will be another few months by time i get to stick them on the encoders id say!
  15. Any udpates? Just wanted to know when theyll be ordered, not that im getting impatient. ;D
  16. hehe! will it have a Rasta colour scheme? ;D Theres only one revelant name i can think of since that post..... The SlickStation! :P We'll have to throw a few more ideas your way, to try to find the appropriate name.
  17. Buhler im absolutely loving that LCD display, its really green and bright. You got it from here right? http://cgi.ebay.com/Fantastic-20x2-Character-OLED-LCD-Module-Display_W0QQitemZ350054508482QQihZ022QQcategoryZ26206QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262 Its a shame they dont have that colour in 20x4, im guessing OLED LCD's are that bit brighter ya? Your mbsid is looking sweet, it looks like an extremely pimped up version of the inferior SidStation!
  18. Theyre after adding a huge 5 part youtube video on the site, that goes through the whole process: http://www.6581-8580.com/soasc_movies.htm Its downloadable as a 950mb file too, plenty of sid tunes in it.
  19. I would like to ask the Community what are your thoughts on the Quadra Sid Emulation of the Chip? TK especially! ;) I would love to see a comparison actually, of QuadraSid, ReSid, and that Tracker that used the Resid engine. if someone knows of a site please post a linky.
  20. And send him a x0xb0x as a replacement! Funny how the original failed for the purpose it was made, but fulfilled so many other purposes!
  21. Congratulations man! Its lookin sexy. Didnt know you could get green perf boards, they look so much better with smashs pcbs than the ugly poo colour ones! And how the hell did i leave the last 7 pages of this thread slip past me in the last few months? Only spotted it was finished with the rss feed today!
  22. hes used 2 fluke multimeters to test it as was said earlier.
  23. Hmm, i got a PM from you that said: "Please fill in your details at the bottom of this email" Did you mean to say PM instead of email? I pm'd you my detail but havent got an invoice yet. Just double checking in case something went wrong hehe!
  24. Id like to retract my previous post, for some reason i had mistaken it for the optimized SID circuit connected to the core module, not the Core modules rectification circuit itself! :-[ My bad.
  25. Got another repply and more info on the topic! "I have got hold of a brand new 12v AC/AC adapter, it tests axactly the same as the 9v one my ebay auction but it does not run a DC fan where as the adapter on ebay does, which makes me think that it is DC output and not AC. I googled the part number on ebay and have found the manufacturers spec. Supprise supprise it says that it is AC/AC. I am so confused Ps. here is the link http://www.mepos.ca/index.php?cmd=lin_ac_tuv"
