  1. Thanks for the help, but my faulty encoders are spread out on several shift registers. Is probobly a good idea to have a look at the soldering of the shift registers though...
  2. I checked this a bit more and there is deffenetly something wrong. Some encoders come and go. There seems to be connection all the way from encoder to shift register even when the encoder is dead. I had drop outs of encoders connected to different shift registers. They come and go during the same session and when I power off and on, they are still gone... It seems really strange to me. If it was bad solder joints at the ribbon cables, I think it would affect fewer encoders... Now there is at least half of them behaving strange but waveform attack and lfo rate are worst. anybody have any idea?
  3. It might be. I have the panel on, but I didn't go through the manual yet, so I basicly have no idea what I've been doing. I just pressed and twitched everything to see that there was action. I will go through the manual and then I will have a better idea if there is something wrong or not. Thanks.
  4. Hi everybody! I have allmost completed my MB6582. Everything seems to work except for two things. I am not 100% sure they are errors, but I think at least the first one is. 1) Some of the encoders come and go spontaniously. Most of the time all of them work, but all of sudden one, two or three my go dead and not show any respons on the LCD. Are there modes were some of the are ignored? 2) I tried to upload the vintage presets syx file via midi-ox. When doing so the LCD and mod matrix showed response so I am sure there was communication with the pc but after completed transfer I still just have the one lead patch. Do I have to do something in the menues to gain access to the soundbank?
  5. You have 220V 50Hz mains, right? Then I think you want a european one or similar. Just to clearify.
  6. The leds from work looks much like the ones from smash tv, fingers crossed they match...
  7. I grabbed a led at work and if it fits I'll take some more from here, if not. I'll just leave some space in the mod matrix and buy another pack from smash tv. thanks for the offer wilba, you've just done more than enough allready.
  8. I could do that, but I want to complete this now ;)
  9. Yes and I found "Control Surface Wiring" at http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/wilba_mb_6582 (http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/lib/exe/fetch.php?id=wilba_mb_6582&cache=cache&media=mb-6582:mb-6582_cs_dout_wiring.pdf) and found out that it is not possible if I don't scatter the different leds all over... Maybe I do...
  10. I am populating the CS of my MB6582 and it seems I have to mix red LEDs of different brands. I have 102 LEDs from Smash TV that I will use with 1K ohm resistors but i have to add at least 10 LEDs of a different brand that match with 330 ohm resistors for the same brightness. Does anybody know how I can find out what LEDs go with what resistors so that I can match a 1K/330 resistor combination on the base PCB with an appropriate LED setup on the CS?
  11. Anyway. Beware of the risks of static electricity and handle ICs with care. Especially expencive ones like SIDs...
  12. Is it so essential? I never used it and never fried anything eventhough I have intended to get it all the time. Use to deelectrify myself by touching metal before haldling sensitive components. Don't get me wrong, of course it is good but am I alone not using this stuff?
  13. Doug is better now, but he has to sort out the MB808 stuff first. This is a quote from the MB808 forum from Apr 07 I think the panel order will happen eventually. If you are impatient and have too much money, do like me and order the panels from Schaeffer.
  14. I think this kind of list should include the three number codes like 103, 104 etc which look really strange to those uninitiated.
  15. Well, not exactly. I haven't got enough gear to create anything yet, and the virtual stuff (Reason etc) I used before doesn't appeal to me anymore since I work at the computer all day long. I am slowly making a collection of DIY units and hope to be musically creative soon. My girlfriend is very understanding, not beacuse she understands the music but because she understands my urge to be creative. Anyway, here is the stuff I made before going midibox-idle... http://www.myspace.com/artbysnipers
  16. I had a look and I cannot find any errors now. Maybe I was tired and confused when I "found" it. The problem I thought I found was the connection to the core at JP1. Double check the connection to the shift register by comparing with the dout module at ucapps if you intend to use this schemitic.
  17. Regarding the current rating, it will just take what it needs.
  18. Because of the modular structure you can start off with the din and ain modules and once you got that working you could hook up a dout module too. i don't know much about interfacing ableton live. i am sure it can be done but i don't know how difficult it is. it would require some coding though becuase it is not a standard feature of mb64. there are some threads about live controllers that you could check out.
  19. It's not a family organ any more. It was too cool to stay in the organ so now it's on its on. My friend thought it looked like a military supply so we called it "trummaskin-90" (drum machine-90). The Swedish army has a series of supplies whith the postfix 90. I called it retrodrummer when making the mp3, but that's not a very unique name.
  20. Under Female SIL Crimp Connectors in his shop you can buy parts to build your own interconnection cables. They mate with the standard headers and you will need some ribbon cable with them. He sells ribbon cable too, but I use to use old IDE computer cables which can be found anywhere for free these days. Buy some spare connectors to practice your cable building. Expect to break one or two before getting skills.
  21. As long as you use just one pic, the id should be 0
  22. Here is a aound demo I made in a hurry. retrodrum1.mp3 retrodrum1.mp3
  23. It is finally complete! The schematic I posted earlier turned out to be slightly wrong. It is the connection to the core module that is a bit twisted...
  24. Hi! Sure, you can do it without LCD and bankstick. You are right. If you order the PIC from Smash TV it will be pre-programmed with the boot loader so you will only need to program it via MIDI. You will need a PIC18F452 for the MB64 project. Look here: http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_ainx4_64pots.pdf http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_dinx4_32buttons.pdf and generally at the page for the separate module at ucapps.de Good luck!
