  1. Nice work! I like the look of Simone's version, but I'd suggest using some soft foam instead of paper.
  2. There is one reasonably priced option for international small parcels with tracking. It's the US Postal Service $11 Priority Mail® Flat Rate Envelope*. You get there from the postage rate calculator by selecting Letter rather than Parcel. They're 11.5 x 9.5 inches, fairly decent stiff cardstock, and rated to four pounds weight. According to the pop-up that appears when you hit the question mark, they include "Tracking to major destinations". I've used these to receive computer parts from the US many many times. There's no requirement that the contents have to actually be a letter or documents. Occasionally I've asked the shipper to wrap some clear tape around the envelope to reinforce likely tear points. Speaking of which, what are the dimensions of the displays? I downloaded the datasheet PDF, but all I got was 16 blank pages. I'd like as many bubblewrapped displays as you can stuff into the above envelope ;D * URL is for a 3 pound letter to Australia
  3. I might change my mind and order a few too...
  4. The lighter coloured minor note keys are a nice touch
  5. Still, if you wanna build a project based around that thing, go ahead! No, it won't be easy, but if you can support all the features (the mixer particularly), woohoo!
  6. Wait ... transparent blue plexi and wood sides ... ???
  7. Bah humbug! I got 8 tracks realtime mixdown at 16/44 out of a 60MHz PowerMac. Might I suggest investigating the dedicated media/audio distributions of Linux, such as pure:dyne, dyne:bolic, ubuntu studio, AGNULA, DEMUDI etc. dyne:bolic especially is set up for low end machines. And another OS you might consider is DOS ;) There are similar threads scattered around this forum. Do a bit of thorough searching and you should turn them up.
  8. Definitely logarythmic taper and not linear. That goes for the faders, x-faders and pots. The most you'll get out of that case is a case, front panel, maybe a power supply and the knobs and buttons.
  9. Maybe maybe maybe - if so I'll want a lot - between 64 and 700 or so.
  10. I can understand the motivation, but it seems a shame to gut one FM synth to build another. It would certainly be an interesting "upgrade" for the old FB. Hey when you're done, send me the motherboard ;D
  11. I'm down for one - I'll have a think about whether I want the programmed PICs though
  12. Ditto, four please
  13. Why not get together with Ray Wilson and send the guy a proper cease-and-desist letter from a lawyer? Send it to ebay as well.
  14. Jaycar.com.au have a kit for a midi theremin. You could also check out the PAiA.com theremax, which has CV and gate out. You could add a MIDIbox to that and have MIDI out.
  15. Ghghghghaaarh how do you resize images around here? Anyway:
  16. Yep, mine arrived about a week ago. They are gorgeous
  17. Might I just add, that's one ugly case. He could have at least used the blue plexi on the front.
  18. Ditto on the 2044s - $?
  19. I've heard vinyl dye is a better solution for computer plastics. The spray-on dye soaks into the plastic rather than sitting on the surface.
  20. From BGMicro
  21. Anthony Banister is one of the Clan Analogue dudes from Sydney.
  22. Woohoo!! Wilba, would a set of 5mm PCB spacers do the trick?
  23. You butchered a Speccie?
  24. And I'll bet it has an American accent by crikey
  25. wtf?
