  4. On the Wilba CS I believe they are physically wired in parallel to one input pin which is assigned to FAST. So you could reassign them all to the same single function, but not to separate functions, without cutting traces and soldering wires to some additional DIN pins. Probably have to add DIN too, there are a few free assignments in the matrix but not 16. otherwise I think your idea should work

  7. I believe mbfm uses the same 4x20 displays. im in no big hurry the ship time is not a big deal to me.
  8. I'd Prefer White. I'd also be in for one red MB6582 Compatible OLED. If the order doesnt happen for say a month or so I'd be in for 5 4x20 in white....

And then I scroll down and see a schematic. only a few slight differences.CS and RESET have 10K pull ups not present in the MBHP ETH schematic, and the MBHP ETH has an extra 100uf cap on the pin 1/2, and 100nf cap on VDDTX (bypass cap). A few resistor values are slightly different. only thing I see as a potential problem is the extra pull ups, which could be desoldered if needed, which I again am no expert and maybe they are fine to leave in....
  10. I'm No expert, and its hard to tell just looking at a picture of the board, but it sure looks almost exactly like the schematic for the ETH module. connector pinning appears different but it has the right signals present. I bet it would work.
  11. I've thought about trying it again but then I have to learn it again......what I'm using now seems to work well so.....Maybe if I get bored someday. but I always have about 10 projects going on to keep me from actually working on any music.... ;)

I bought this a couple years ago on the recommendation of a HAM Radio friend: http://www.abacom-online.de/uk/html/sprint-layout.html I actually bought thier schematic package and front panel tool also, 49,90 Euro each at the time was well under $150 US. I like it, it's easy to use, Easy to make "Macros" (Compponents) and does boards up to 500mmx500mm so I can do 19' rack panels on one board which is the largest I'll probably ever need. The drawbacks? No integration between schematic editor and board editor, they are two seperate programs and no importing the schematic into the board and having everything rubberbanded together like EAGLE and some others. Not a huge library like EAGLE, though EAGLE has almost too much to sort through. And making new components is super easy so not such a huge drawback. Other than that I quite like it, though to date I have never had a board manufactured. No 3d View either but is that really necessary? I was using EAGLE a bit back in the day, I liked it OK but the cost for a version with Larger board size was Crazy back then. I see they have some lower cost options now, but still much more than this. I also tried KiCad back in the day and it just felt Clunky, unfinished, and wierd....Maybe it is better now nearly ten years later. Anyway, wondering if anyone else is using this and maybe has a library of midibox parts they would share?

    Weekend Update...

    Not much time this weekend But I managed to Solder up a few NEW DIN/DOUT boards. And the complication comes in the pinning of the new boards, the arrangement of the 2x5 header does not allow me to use my old 1x5 cables to the CS as wired in V3, due to the arrangement of the SR inputs. Not a big deal, off to the HW config file to do some editing (It was bound to happen sooner or later!)..... Other observations on the New DIN/DOUT boards....It would be nice to have a bit more clearance to use shrouded (Box) headers, The I/O headers on the end overlap board mounting holes and the SR connections would have been too close on one of the boards IIRC. No big deal, I used the srouded headers on the SRIO chain, and normal ones on the I/O pins.

I also ordered 2 from digikey (actually ordered from digikey first but was backordered). they do show up on ebay but the prices I saw seemed high (~$30)

    encoders wired up to DIN's and working. This is about the point I left off on V3, but now its V4 and all the encoders are wired up. had to make new ribbons for the displays too since new core is different.

    Bourns 12mm encoders w/switch. I just wired to the PC pins and heatshrinked over them. don't forget to put the shrink tube on before soldering!

    I liked this case beacause it had plenty of room for a 4x16 BLM. now there is the TPD so I can still fit that and there will be plenty of room for my big jog wheel. and maybe still room for an integrated synth!

    So life happened and this sat on a shelf partially finished for a few years, then Moved across the country with me. Cross country move left me with few outside commitments aside from my job and wife, so now I have time again to work on MIDIBOX! This was the project as a SEQ V3, time for an upgrade to SEQ V4. New core was ordered and constructed.
