Mr.M - Your statement is pointless because in the meantime you won't find any mention of GPL in the source code of the uCApps projects anymore. The current license is "Licensed for personal non-commercial use only. All other rights reserved." I don't want to jump into the old legal discussion because this didn't ever bring out something positive for the community. I'm just wondering what your motives regarding Midibox are, as you registered on the forum not even one week ago and already start probing the legal limits now... S

klar, da läuft MIOS ja schließlich auch :) S

Making Midibox FM Compatible with FM7 & Yamaha DX Patches.
seppoman replied to Smithy's topic in MIDIbox FM
that's not possible - the DX7 is a 6 operator FM synth while the OPL3 only has 4 operators per voice. S -
Hi, as long as the IC is placed the right way round, I'd just keep it as it is now. The main reason for using sockets is to spare the ICs prolonged times of heating. It is already soldered now, so desoldering only increases the probability that the IC might get damaged from too much heat. Seppoman

that must be sightly euphemistic for "that trouble pay-c had with me", which, in turn, is euphemistic for "the anger I've caused pay-c by not paying a trivial and agreed-upon amount of money for half a year and starting to threaten and insult people instead of simply apologizing and/or paying when asked about it". If I were you, I wouldn't ask why people consider you a dubious trader... S

Huh? It is open source, where did you get the impression that it wasn't? http://www.mikrocontroller.net/wikifiles/3/32/MrMidi2Ultimate.zip Seppoman

Perfect, thanks guys :) Seppoman

Hi Michael, would it be possible to change the font of the wiki headlines? In my opinion, they look quite ugly because the font is way too bold. That way, the lines of the characters "melt" into each other in a way that they're not very well readable. If that makes a difference, my browser is Firefox on standard XP without any added fonts etc. - but I also tried it with IE5 on Win2000, same problem. Seppoman

Hi, thanks all for your comments :) the PCB layout is double sided for several reasons (better signal quality, smaller size, no bridges, logical layout etc.). Because of these reasons, I have no intention to create a single sided version. So as long as Mike only sells home-etched single sided boards, he won't be able to sell the NG. But I don't think this is very limiting - if someone from Europe wants one, then just order it from SmashTV anyway. Smash's boards are similarly priced but professional quality. The only drawback are slightly higher shipping costs. Seppoman

Seppoman

Hi, I'm very happy to announce the official release of the new AOUT_NG module :) The AOUT_NG is an 8 channel 12 bit CV out module. Main reason for this new module was the high price and bad availability of the MAX525 DACs used on the AOUT module. The NG features (almost) comparable performance for much less money, plus the added benefit of an integrated bipolar mode option (configurable per channel) and a bridgeless dual layer PCB. Documentation can be found here: http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/aout_ng PCBs and kits are now available from SmashTV's shop. Happy midiboxing, Seppoman P.S. Happy birthday TK :)

Hi, I'm also a big fan of AVRs, but porting the whole MIOS plus the application will be an immense task. In C it woudn't be too bad, but it's all assembler. So if you're really thinking of doing all this, why not choose an ARM7 MCU and get a real boost in performance instead of (probably) only a few percents from the AVR? :) S

Hi doc, schonmal aufs Datum geschaut? Der Thread ist zwei Jahre alt ;) Seppoman

I can't see the connection to Midification yet - Parts Questions would've been the right forum section. Anyway, all pots used for Midiboxes are usually linear. But as the brightnes/contrast adjustments normally are done only one time, a log pot wouldn't be much of a problem, just a little bit annoying for fine adjustment. S

He's probably in his red phase .... S

I think you mean this one by Ixox? http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=9157.0 S

I don't think that it's e.g. illegal to sell your RedHat Linux CDs on eBay without mentioning the GPL license in the auction text. As long as all original and modified source code is supplied with the item, he would be in peace with GPL. But this discussion is highly theoretical because there is NO GPL on Midibox. He is definitely in breach of TK's license which is only a few clear words - "Licensed for personal non-commercial use only. All other rights reserved". No interpretation necessary. S

mono and stereo doesn't have anything to do with master and slave. one core can control one (mono) or two (stereo) SIDs. Which one ore both is selectable in the menu at the relevant places. Master and Slaves selection is only relevant if you have more than one core. For that, the SID1..SID4 buttons come handy :) But with one core and two SIDs you don't even need these buttons. Yes. The engine is selected in the patch. There's only one firmware that includes all engines. S

Hi Max, just out of interest: At first I thought you can only get 24 SIDs in total but apparently they were meant as samples. So seeing the numbers increase, is there a minimum order from your supplier that we must reach, or the other way round, do they only have so much that not all can get enough? Seppoman

It would be a good plan to have only one single but well known shop list. having information on two different places just leads to inconsistencies because some people only know of and update one place. So I think the best thing would be to kill this thread, but put a sticky post on Fleamarket, Parts Questions and Parts Archive pointing to the wiki page. Seppoman

-
I like the idea of one integrated MIOS Studio app that contains the editor(s) for MBSID (and MBFM) :) Seppoman

Seppoman
