  1. It seems to me a OS problem. With XP computer 4 GM5x5x5 w/o any problem ( other usb socket on the rear and ATM I cant access them to test more than 4) With Windows7 computer ATM only 2 GM5x5x5 ( only jumper configuration - no EEprom )
  2. Hi Shuriken, Thanks for your reply %DevName%=MIDIDEVICE,USB\VID_16C0&PID_1022 I have to add this line at the end of the section and add a new line increasing the PID for each new GM5x5x5 module Then install the driver in my computer Right? Only one thing is not clear for me: have I to change the PID in the eeprom too or this procedure is anyway for use without eeprom? Thanks and best regards Antonio P.S. Actually I use two GM5x5x5 The first MIDIbox.org ( J8 closed ) and the second Ploytec. org ( J8 opened ) Only for midibox one I can obtain a name change as I wanted in the .inf file I.E. WDM.MIDI_1.szPname="MIDIbox SID (1)" WDM.MIDI_2.szPname="MIDIbox FM (2)" WDM.MIDI_3.szPname="MIDIbox SEQ (3)" WDM.MIDI_4.szPname="MIDIbox Stribe (4)" WDM.MIDI_5.szPname="Keyboard (5)" For the ploytec one I have to keep the names assigned automatically. Is there a chance to rename the ploytec range too?
  3. Thanks anyway, By the way I will use two GM5x5x5 and if I will solve I will post here . With the EEprom configuring will be the same? What I have to do to have two different configuration in EEprom, I toke a look at the special app in the repository but as I am not very into programming I dont know how to modify the code to configure two device. Or better : what is the part of the code I can modify who make the difference from two devices? At this point is interesting to me to try it. Best regards Antonio
  4. Hi Thorsten, yes, I can confirm. but I have to say that two device works OK also with only the MIDIbox.vid selected , leaving both J8 closed and other jumpers untouched ( closed ) I changed the name in the .inf file writing: WDM.MIDI_1.szPname="GM5 porta 1" WDM.MIDI_2.szPname="GM5 porta 2" WDM.MIDI_3.szPname="GM5 porta 3" WDM.MIDI_4.szPname="GM5 porta 4" WDM.MIDI_5.szPname="GM5 porta 5" So for the first interface I have ( in MIOSStudio for example and in othe programs too ) : GM5 porta 1 GM5 porta 2 GM5 porta 3 GM5 porta 4 GM5 porta 5 and for the second i have: GM5 porta 1 - 2 GM5 porta 2 - 2 GM5 porta 3 - 2 GM5 porta 4 - 2 GM5 porta 5 - 2 The " problems " start with 3 or 4 GM5x5x5 The system dont recognize the third at bootstrap, I have to unplug and re-plug the USB cable to make the system see it The fourth doesnt exist anyway. And this with various configurations tested (it seems to me I am following the indication in the GM5 page very correctly but it is possible that I am making something wrong ) Best regards Antonio
  5. Hi Shuriken, Unfortunately not help me. I already tried this ( the GM5x5x5 need no screwdriver as are there jumpers for settings) I am able to select ploytec.com VID leaving J8 open but any jumper setting ( J1...J3 or s1...s3 as we want call them ) reduce only the number ( quantity ) of midi ports. So I would try the EEprom settings but dont know what I have to change in the contents in each EEprom to have different settings. Thanks and regards Antonio
  6. Hi, I am try to use more than two GM5x5x5 module on my Windows7 . After tried a lot of jumper settings only two module can work without any strange issue ( like plug and unplug the third module to make the system see it and so on ). I would try to use the eeprom . So I have two ( at least ) questions: Can the eeprom configuration help me to creating 5 different ( for the OS ) GM5x5x5 modules ? What I have to modify in the app to create a unique ID ( or name ) for each GM5x5x5 module ? I am using the driver http://www.ucapps.de/gm5/midibox.org_gm5_WIN32_1.0.10.zip and already have modified the name in the .inf file Thanks for any help Best regards Antonio
  7. yes :D it is only a joke... anyway hundreds of knobs you have to find in basement , not borrowed from a friend
  8. Yes... ...I have it from loooong time but...never used since now :ermm: or... Wow! look what I found down the basement, I completely forgot about it :logik: Time ago I borrowed from a friend my old S1100 :D
  9. Agreed Peter I have to give you acces to Anti-Wife Techniques Manual :D to avoid any discussion on new gear sudden appareance  . Regards Antonio

    GM5

Hi, As you are talking about EEprom.... I have five GM5x5x5 but my windows7 see only three with every jumper settings. So, as I would to try with EEproms on every PCB , I would ask what is the part of EEprom code ( the special application ) I have to modify to have 5 different devices ? ( or better to make system see 5 different devices ) Thanks Antonio
  11. Hi Florian, I experienced that often commercial power supply ( I assumed that you are powering with the one I see in the picture ) have at least 2200uF capacitor. Personally I have a supply with two 2200 caps ( better two 2200 than one 4700 to reduce RS ) and this have reduced ripple noise I heard with a commercial supply . This is not the solution , is only my experience but you can try. Take a look at this forum page too. Best regards Antonio
  12. Hi Pete, I just would try to use MIDIO128 to generate a pulse to trigger sound generator like drones or analog drum sound and so on. So I need only SEROUT for my intents. About configurating with MIOS STUDIO I think is the more comfortable way , asked about the LCD only for a minimum control surface use to change "on the fly" MIDI channel or other minor parameters and in the MIDIO128 V2 page I dont read any about a control surface or LCD. I am looking in the forum too but since now I havent found informations that can help me ( or simply I search in the wrong way ). A this point I will solder a core and burn a PIC with the MIDIO128 firmware and will see what I can do. If you have any link about this argument to show me I will be grateful. Best regards Antonio
  13. Hi , I am going to spent some evening with MIDIO128 ver2 ( PIC based ). I know is better the new version but for some experimentation the PIC is OK. ( I think  ) reading documentation i read : " it is only important that the last input shift register is terminated with ground " Is the pin 10 (ser ) of the shift register that have to be grounded? And if I dont need SRIN but only SEROUT I have to ground ( terminate ) the same the DIN chain wire on J9 ? Effectively ATM I dont need DIN but only DOUT . Do This version if MIDIO128 support the LCD? It seems to me no as I read. So MIDI channel have to be setted with MIOS STUDIO ? Thanks for any help Antonio

  17. Hi, Giving a look around the forum I haven't yet found the answer about. can MIDIO128 ( any version ) generate trigger pulse or can generate only ON/OFF signals? Someone seems already ask for this but seems solved with sequencer trigger outputs. Probably I can solve with a flip flop on the output who works on the rising front to generate a pulse but at this point I should ask if the new MIDIO128 will be implemented will a feature like this ( if possible and if people consider it useful ). Best regards Antix

Thanks Peter, I dont know if all the control for 808 fits into 2U . You can try with CAD to compact all the switces and pots but I think you will need 3U. I think that I will build a console style case for sequencer board and 808 controls.( dont know when yet  ) best regards Antonio
  21. Anche io non ho ancora realizzato un controller. Non vorrei sbagliare ma forse più che gli encoder ( 20 ) potresti usare i pots , vedi MIDIBOX 64 ciao
  22. Just soldered two GM5. GM5 drivers installed . I use Windows 7 . At system start win7 see only two devices, to make it see three GM5x5x5 I have to unplug and re-plug USB cables. Any experience about this? thanks Antix P.S. In SetupMain.ini I read this ALLOW_MULTIPLE_DEVICES=0 may "=1" for more than 1 GM5? .
