MONSTA
Nope, mearly asking if there's an estimated time...As in are we looking at a few weeks or a few months. TK if you did happen to take that as badgering I appologise. I know that you're doing all this to only further the community, not your own wealth and it's very much appreciated, so I would never go out of my way to badger you or anybody on this forum and hope it wasn't taken that way... TK.
There are (more or less) bad news, but also good news:The PCB fab delivered the old v1_1 layout by mistake. It has no J8 jumper (1) and no ground rings around the USB socket (2).Both are minor improvements, the v1_1 board will work perfectly.(1) requires to solder a cable from pin IO5 (#10) to ground if your interface should be named "midibox.org" instead of "ploytec". The GM5 will work perfectly as "ploytec" device, so that this cable is really optional.(2) has only been added for mechanical robustness reasons. Your board will work without changes, but if you want to improve it, just follow TheProf's instructionsThe good news: Ploytec is very sorry for this mistake, and the Fab will send us 100 v1_2 PCBs for free! The PCBs will be available in some weeks. If I already sent you a v1_1 board, and you want a replacement (for whatever reason), just contact me and I will send you the new ones (once available). Shipping will be freePeople who haven't got their order yet, will be asked if they prefer v1_1 or v1_2 (as mentioned above: it will take some additional weeks until the PCBs will be available)I will sell the remaining free v1_2 boards to cover the additional shipping costs, and the rest of the extra money as a donation to finance my upcoming MIDIbox projects.Best Regards, Thorsten. benuron
I got mine some days ago ;)I have some doubts...Can I replace the 6n138 by the 6n139?And the c3 1uF ceramic capacitor by one 1uF film capacitor? Thanks
Janis1279
Can I replace the 6n138 by the 6n139?From a Pic based Core article:"Every MIDI device comes with such an optocoupler which isolates the MIDI Input from the device on the other side, just to avoid any damage. For the case that you don't find a 6N138, you can also use a 6N139 (it's pin compatible)."And the c3 1uF ceramic capacitor by one 1uF film capacitor?Yes , it's a good replacement.
