Alright, i'm stuck within choices.
When i started about 8 years ago (i had to look that up, see here for my old blog.. has it really been that long?) there was only a sidV1 and no mb6582 from wilba. I collected parts to be used in a compete CS, all diy wiring, as that was the only option.
Then came the V2 and wilbas awesome mb6582 project with it. I got his base pcb, as i still had my own CS in my head.
Fast forward to now. I'm finally at a point in my life where i can finish this proj

i've found my SID chip collection as well, i've got 2x6582, 3x6581, 3x8580 and one 8580 that has a defective filter.
i want to have 1 6581 pair, 1 6582 pair and 2 8580 pairs, which means i need to find one 8580 from somewhere. If you got one for a good price, contact me :smile:
I'm also thinking design choices, the mb6582 base is prepared for stereo outs, probably to save on space. but i'd rather have mono out, that's how my studio is set up. otherwise i need spec

In 2011/2012 I made a working firmware and a manager under Max/MSP.
Because of personal reasons, I put the project on hold.

The missing socket arrived this morning. Full of will power I waited until after the days work was done before getting out the now rapidly declining box of bits. Socket in, C64 PSU tested, 9V tested good, so was ready to go. Small glitch until I realised that I had to change the core ID in MIOS Studio too, then all loaded smoothly. Fitted the 6852's one pair at a time, and ran through the sound banks, with a silly grin just getting wider on my face.

When interfacing a Joystick, Modwheel or Pitchbender it is sometimes found that the voltage range on the potentiometer output is well inside the range of the Core ADC input.
This can often be overcome with digital calibration in the firmware (e.g MIDIbox KB) in some cases there is extreme loss of resolution.
Presented here is a circuit to overcome this to give the ADC the full range (in this case 0..3.3V) even though the range of the potentiometer is well inside this.

Finally getting back to building music gear. Trying to do a bit every night; averaging 30% at the moment. MB6582, nearly complete. Must take the 'wooden spoon' for slowest assembly from the initial batch, but #31 is on it's way. Wired and tested the LCD, last night, only to find I'd mis-read an advert ages ago, and got CrystalFontz normal, (black on green) displays. Will go with it for now, but will probably go for Optrex when I get the chance, (they take way less current too).

This article documents the hardware and software mods to provide 2 extra (4 total) Midi I/O ports on the MB SEQ4L.
The added ports use the onboard UARTs (2,3) of the LPC MIOS32 core. It's taken a considerable amount of time due to life/work getting in the way, but I finally got my MB-6582 to the point where it should power up and go.

Making a fully stuffed midibox64e. Going to try with the LPC17 core, so I don't even know if I'll be able to getting working until TK releases the NG stuff for it. Anywho is what I'm trying to make. Going with regular LED's per Hawkeyes rec. and I'll wait on knobs and make a dummy layout to see if the spacing is too tight per ilmenator's and Tbreath's concerns...
